What are you paying for gas?

We shelled out 2.539 for gas today.

I love driving, but I haven't been joyriding for weeks. The kids don't get it, but for transportation for my girlfreind and I we spent over $100 in he past 3 weeks. It's time for that electric car or go back to the way Fred and Barney did it.

When I lived in Texas my horse was cheaper, and you can bet he'd be getting his exercise now!!!

Check out http://gasbuddy.com - we found this in Readers Digest(Yes, I read more than forum pages, besides, I can't fit my PC beside the toilet.)

I live in Niagara Falls, Canada (aka one of the worst tourist traps in the known universe, trust me, unless you strile it rich, stay away) and our gas SIGNS are all at 99.9 cents.

Ya see, in these here parts, there are two slots for the tens and ones, a decimal point, and a space for the tenths for our prices, so the absolute highest they can set the prices (becuase the way the signs are made) is 99.9 cents a liter.

It's kinda like in Final Fantasy when you do 9999 HP damage on a monster. You know that you probabally did well over 10,000 HP in damages, but the game only registers up to 9999.

Oh yeah, for you Americans who might be unfamiliar with the metric system, a liter is JUST under 1/4 a galon. And a pint is half a liter. Pints of domestic beers generally sell for around $3.00 - $4.50, depending on what kind of establishment you happen to wander into. I like pints. Pints are good.

Soooo... it's around $5 a galon for gas, or so in my parts. And the same amount of beer will run you around $24 if you befriend a local, and promise to share your booze.

In Gardiner, NY gas is around $2.60 per gal. It stinks but it's not yet as bad as the price in Europe.

Str82u, you asked: "Gas is cheaper than what?"

Well, according to "Blue Oyster Cult"...

"While outside on the turnpike

They got this new hit tune

Where thrills become as cheap as gas

And gas as cheap as thrills..." - from the song "Before The Kiss".

Looks like the price of a cheap thrill has gone up as well...

Still cheaper than water, but not milk. Paid $2.99 for premium 93 the other day, then got home 4 hours later and it went down to 2.85. Bastards.

You'd be better off with a suzuki hayabusa or a go cart. Heck, even those dangerous 4 wheel ATVs get 50-60 mpg!! On a good day I can barely get 33 mpg out of my twin turbo V6 Audi.

Someone just needs to design a damn car that fits 1 or 2 people in it and is the size of a motorcycle. The japanese already designed one kind of like that.. just shows how stupid the American car companies are.

petrol in Brisbane Australia was around $1.25AU per litre last I looked, thats about $1.15CAD, $0.98US. In terms of gallons, $4.45US.

I sold my car and get around by mountain bike, I actually get where I am going in half the time, than if I were to drive.

What alternative fuel/hybrid etc cars does everyone have available in your area? The only one here is the Toyota Pruis. Not the most stylish car and selling for about $45,000AU I think.

All this time I thought it was jusy us (US) that had a problem with gas prices, not that missery loves company, but I was under the impression that somehow they were just taking advantage of us. That may still be true, but "they" (whoever they is) are sticking it to us all.

Didn't we just help fight a war to stop this from going on!!

You really need to stop moaning about the cost of fuel!

Over here in the (UK) We have been ripped off for years, it's not just fuel.

Cars, Electrical goods, just about everything you can buy.

We in the UK have had to suffer this wholesale rip off for years.

The best way to get around is to buy a very boring DIESEL car,

Then run it on (Vegatable oil)

Yes it does work!!

It costs about the same as gas does in the (US).

So like i said earlier you want to stop moaning about the cost of it.

Has anyone else ever had a go running on Veg oil or Bio Diesel??

biodiesel is great, much better for the environment with respect to emissions. Our fuel standards here were changed not to long ago to require about 30% biodiesel in the diesel available at petrol station. a small step in the right direction.

Oh and diesel cars get HEAPS more distance per tank.

Did you realize you can use kerosene instead of diesel? Little known fact hehe. I'm not sure if it is more expensive than diesel though. I heard they add some dye to it to prevent truckers in the USA from using it because it used to be cheaper than diesel. When they check your fuel tank at the weigh stations, they would fine you.

Like I said, what the world needs is to use more motorcycles, not cars. Put a safety bubble over them or sth so you can use them in winter and rain. Then you have a 50+ mpg vehicle.

petrol is so expensive in the UK because of tax, it's been getting worse because of G.Brown and his stealth taxes. the cost of running a car now is crazy, road tax is another favorite stealth tax mr.Brown likes to increase.

The tax in PA, USA for gas is about $1 or roughly that, the gov't get most of it.

About the cost of gas elsewhere in the world, anywhere you call it petrol, how much are you making per hour at work? Or maybe a better question is how much is the minimum wage (if that exists for your country) in US dollars. Here it's $5.35us per hour.

What I'm getting at is to see if you are making more money and that's why the gas (and beer/ale/booze and even the cost of living) is so high. The rule of thumb here in the US (especialy in Pennsylvania I think) is the more you earn the more they make you put it back in circulation.

I'm hoping to not sound ignorant about this (cause it's laziness), but in alot of cases money is worth more or less depending on exchange rates. It was so nice back home in Texas when we did any shopping in Mexico because in general most stuff was cheaper by at least a half.
