This show has taken an abysmal turn for the worse. I am not alone with this viewpoint as other forum members are also airing there displeasure! So what can be done? The answer is very very simple bring in new writers and the problem may get better....continue with the same and it will be over.....

what a shame a good show laying on it's back because of past achievements!

I enjoyed the last 8 seasons, but for some reason I couldn't get into the 9th. I think it's because I don't really like LtC Mitchell as much as O'Neill. But, I really havn't given him a chance either. The Orai/ Ancient war would be good if the writing was different, as katerina said. But, I don't see them closing up shop, just yet. I think once the numbers drop below a certain level the show will end. And that would a shame to end on such a bad note.

lets just hope the new season brings something more 'dynamic'/action packed/funny..

and hopefully so with the anniversay episode coming up....

Otherwise, i'm sure that after '10' seasons many of the cast/crew may wan't to call it quits..........

  • 3 weeks later...

There was a marked decline in quality with season 8 and 9... to be honest, the show never really recovered from moving to Sci-Fi to be honest but it's been weaker since Daniel started dying at least once a season.

9 was pretty weak... probably because it felt very forced to introduce Mitchell.

I don't hold out much hope for season 10. I hope the show can go off the air before it loses all dignity.

I'm not at season 9 yet' date=' but they should get ready for making a good ending for SG1, before the show stops just like that, or gets a rushed and bad ending...[/quote']

Yeah, same - i've only just finished season 8 and that finished well - although i've heard season 9 is pretty bad so whether or not i'll watch season 9 i still don't know. So from what i hear - SG-1 is near it's end...

You know, as long as Atlantis continues, I don't think it will be bad. I've come to like Atlantis more than SG-1. SG-1 just doesn't feel the way it used to to me.... They have been given the go-ahead for season 10 I think, which makes it the longest running sci-fi show I believe, but maybe they allready were that even before...

Longest running sci-fi show short of Doctor Who, you mean... unless you mean 'currently running sci-fi show' and don't count the new Doctor Who... ;)

Anyways, haven't seen past season 8 yet, but they must be messing things up big time to have people discussing it's cancellation... I'm definitely going to have to catch up with SG1 and Atlantis at some point...

Ok the last two seasons maybe 4-5 episodes were good the rest crap. It's obvious that the actors Richard Dean Anderson are using this as a cash cow! God last season was the worst!! and Ben Browder really sucks imho in his new Stargate role!

Beyond the fact that Browder was hammered unceremoniously into the lead role and we were forcefed his backstory - the character was just way too close to Cryters. Whether that was the way Browder played it, the writing or what.

iv really gotten into season 9 :\ i really disagree with the lot of you. but i do worry that it is coming to an end, 10 seasons is pretty long! for people who watch SGS1 and Atlantis as they come out you will see the dynamic between the two, maybe thats why you feel the way you do? you should definately catch up and see how the shows constantly cross reference eachother, makes for a much more interesting show.

Constantly? Yes, I can see how the odd mention every ten episodes or so could be called constant.

Outside the pilot of Atlantis, the only real crossover has been the introduction of Daedulus and the guest appearance of Carter - and that hardly counts given its context. They're like Buffy and Angel were when they were on different networks, really. They share a common heritage and the characters might occasionally mention someone from the other show but it's never much more than infrequent and glancing.

I didn't like season 9 that much actually... (it didn't start of that bad though) Its not because of Mitchell, although i do kinda mis O'Neill... (strange, since i hated him @ the beginning because of macguyver) I liked the Ori episodes, but the rest was kinda unoriginal garbage... Mitchell seems to be copying O'Neil, but failing at it... (also forced jokes...) Somehow Teal'C doesn't seem very important any more, and just walking along... Carter also a lil bit, like she's just hanging around there for the sake of it... Daniel is still good in it, and it only seems to be about Daniel and Mitchel mostly... Vaula (or however written) plays kinda good and funny though...

The story... Well the Ori and its Priars are a nice enemy, but still its all a bit farfetch'd... Theres always an ancient weapon for something, and that is getting kinda boring...

Yeah, ancient weapon saves the day twice in 2 seasons would be a bit much... but then, I don't think that the plot of SG-1 has ever pretended to be hugely revolutionary.

I didn't really miss O'Neill, let's face it - he was guest starring in season 8, he wasn't a regular but Carter's absence at the start of the season and the fact Teal'c wasn't really that integral just makes you wonder why they made season 9. It would have been better to just close the book on SG-1 and have taken a few of the characters and made a new show insteading of sticking Cryters as leader of SG-1 and pretending things had always been that way.
