Tenebrae
Yeah, I can't lie - the big fight in space was pretty cool but that was 4 minutes out of a 42 minute episode.
GlaC
Yeah True... The battle may have been a bit longer imo... Also where were all the Lucian, Asgard and Jaffa ships? There were only a few of each...
Tenebrae
Yeah, considering they kept going on about how Ori were THE GREATEST THREAT TO THE ALPHA QUADRANT... uh, galaxy ever you'd think they'd have fielded more than a half dozen ships. Earth putting x303s in the forum was utterly pointless - railguns have proven pretty much utterly ineffective against any shields. Me thinks the budget did faileth. Also - did anyone see if the Asgard ship survived, I didn't see it go bang but I think most of them got blasted.
GlaC
I couldn't see who survived and who didn't... If only one ship survived its probably the Asgard ship, beaming all the main characters over... lol
Tenebrae
I hope the chubby Russian general guy survives. I just know if he stays around long enough he'll make a "In Soviet Russia..." joke. The Asgard ship didn't really seem to do much... ah well, those Prior shields are clearly nigh on impenentrable. Looks like it's down to General Hammond to save the day. GlaC
Well they also have much knowledgde, so it was stupid to think they could just blast those ships with like 10 vessels (or was it even less?) They might aswell have used all that ammo on the super gate.
Foil
I hated SG-1 season 9 at first but it grew on me after a while and I definitely feel that it is much more involving than that soap opera in space Atlantis. It's alright I guess but if one had to go I would want to see SG-1 remain. One character I'll admit has to come back onboard is Teal'C. Time to kill off his entire Jaffa race and make him a bitter, bitter man looking for a good scrap. And the multiple carter episode... thats up there as a classic along with the stuck in time loop episode.
Tenebrae
They knew that the Priors could help a not all that advanced race create a weapons platform that had a weapon that could punch through Asgard shields like they weren't there. For me that's saying - be afraid. Also, they should have sat behind the gate, so they could shoot the ships in the back. I don't think they could destroy the super gate though. I mean, the gates are pretty much unblowupable, which was rather the problem with the first super gate. Atlanis a Space Opera? Given its incredible formulaic similarities to its parent show, you're really going to have to tar them both with the same brush, I think.
katerina
Couldnt you destroy the supergate by using multiple tractor beams and dragging it into a large sun or a black hole? That would easily destroy it imho! Also i cant believe with all the technology and races SG1 has made contact with they dont have like a super acetylene torch where you could just cut the thing into pieces. Those little pieces could then be sold on galactic ebay to pay for humanitarian aid. What about freezing it to absolute zero type temps and then blowing it up. Or super heating it and then using absolute zero temps. Anything can be destroyed imho.
Tenebrae
The supergate in the finale was already completed though... tossing it into a blackhole sounds like a good idea though. I'd agree that they could have stuck it in a blackhole or a sun. Even if it didn't destroy it, I can't imagine it's going to be a fun time for the ships - time can't really be an issue as Thor towed the Prometheus from the Milky Way to a whole other galaxy in a matter of (approximately?) hours. Obviously though, if they'd come up with a clever idea - then we'd have been deprived of end of season fireworks. Had it been any other episode, they'd have shut that gate down. Bapman
I'll be honest... I think the prob with SG-1 season 9 is.. 1) As most people put it.... it shouldn't have been SG-1... SG-1 should've ended on Season 8 [btw Brad Wright himself said he didn't want a SG-1 season 9... he wanted a new series n call it SGC] 2) I think 8 year and 1 villain race is enough for the 'GOD COMPLEX'... I'm sure they intriduced the ORI to resolve the Ancient story and all but they could've done it by intriducing the furlongs or in SGA... need not be in SG-1 3) They should seriously introduce a very different villain.... like the BORGS in Star Tre... Daleks in Dr. Who and The Shadows in BABYLON 5. BUT I gotta admit that I like SG... n I did enjoy season 9... not as much as season 7 [The antarctic fight was still the best finale imo] Well... let's see how it goes... n oh yeah... They've practically dired up the well for 'good filler episodes' now its just the crap left.
NITRO1250
I am just hoping that they don't end SG1 like they did the origional Battlestar Galactia where it just... ended!
