carcynsdad
Well call me blind' date=' or naive, or whatever you want but I don't think the world is going to drown by the ice caps melting (doesn't water take up MORE room frozen than it does liquid?) and I don't think the world is going to hit a deepfreeze like [i']The Day After Tomorrow[/i] True if the whole temperature of the world goes up 10 degrees there will be famine, and drought, and well death and stuff. So that is what we must stop. Cut back on greenhouse gases, and maybe we should try to stop wasting much food and water. But we should also try to invent cleaner energy source. Like Fusion, Hydrogen, and what not. Rather than dump money into trying to clean up "dirty" industries, maybe we should try to get "clean" industries going and making money. You need to spend money to make money.. One last thing, I don't know if any of you guys like paying more than 2 bucks a gallon (80 cents a liter in Canada thats almost 3 bucks a gallon.) But the sooner we can develop clean and renewable energy source, the sooner we can say to the Middle East "You screwed us when we need cheap energy, and made us pay through the ass for oil and gas. So now that we have better energy source. You can go #### YOURSELF!!" check this out clean energy
kyran
gulf stream shutdowm ? i don't understand there is the pacific it doesn't have a gulf stream does it ? goes for south to north too like the atlantic ? if the gulf stream shuts down things will change far more in the ocean than on the land and as we are getting warmer i don't think it will make any difference to life at all but keep posting this is more interesting than most :)

howiepoohs
Mars is too small a planet to hold a descent atmosphere that would be breatable ny humans. It just does not have enough gravity. Why do you think all those probes they sent were lost? Because the atmosphere is so thin, the parashoots dont slow them down enough. The mars landings of the 70`s were high budget affairs with powerful retro rockets to slow the descent, where now they use those bouncy ball things to soften the blow a touch. I think the guy earilier was talking about that dodgy film "Mission to mars" or the other one. The one with Val Kilmer, where they put this algi on mars to Terra form it. GorunNova
... Mars would be great for underground habitation, though... being geologically dead, earthquakes are pretty much a non-issue, and drift wouldn't destroy tunnels and chambers deep underground.
