Tenebrae
Ah yes, because it's unthinkable that films about 9/11 might have parallels! I love the fact that he "somehow" got the script. My cynical take is that they want to keep it tied up in court until their film is released...
GorunNova
Your cynical take, given how Hollywood works, is probably the right take, Tenebrae. -_-'... and I know I wouldn't have needed their script to come up with the idea they mention. It's not exactly a hard-to-come-by concept... as if nobody has thought of making a story about two rescue workers buried by rubble on Sept. 11th. >_
TetsuoShima
LOL, as if they've never done the same thing to others before. Anyway, if that is all the movie will be about, I guess it's gonna be pretty darn boring. And yes, it really is a far fetched idea, nobody else could possibly have come up with that...:D Not something I'd want to watch though... More Trek Paramount, more Trek... Less rubbish... :D
Symok
At least its not another POS Manufacted Hero flick about the alleged "take back" of whichever plane it was that crashed in the filed. By all the nonexistant gods those films piss me off.
Guest c4evap
Well, according to the "side by side" comparrison...it does appear they were "ripped off". A lot of the script is word for word. c4
Potato
At least its not another POS Manufacted Hero flick about the alleged "take back" of whichever plane it was that crashed in the filed. By all the nonexistant gods those films piss me off. That would be United Flight 93 (assuming that by "filed" you mean field.) Why do they bug you? There is some evidence that would seem to indicate that the "alleged" take back was attempted. Granted those movies are pretty much completely fictitious as no one knows what happened on that plane. But why should they bug you? It's not like anyone is strapping you down and forcing you to watch them and if someone is you have much bigger problems. Tenebrae
Well, c4evap - the real question has to be... who wrote it first. I'm guessing the courts will side with who has the most money. Adversarial law is the stupidest possible system... but fits right in with capitalism. Bah, I'm all in favour of crushing the poor but really. You can't p!ss around with double standards on the legal system. Oh wait - you can. I'd go on about how I hate humans - turns out I've done that a million times. If life was an MMORPG, I'd have got some kind of award for that. Real life sucks.
GorunNova
*looked at the side by side comparison* o_O... whoa. Now all we need to know is whether the independant really did steal the script from Paramount, or vice versa? As Tenebrae said, the actual 'first writer' will be decided probably by the one who can keep up the lawsuit the longest. <- is not a fan of crushing the poor... they're pretty much crushed as it is, and the current system doesn't help their chances of getting uncrushed very much as it is. Guest c4evap
Well, c4evap - the real question has to be... who wrote it first. I'm guessing the courts will side with who has the most money. So true and so sad. c4 :(
Tenebrae
To be honest, the Western legal system is now a true extension of the "money = power"... I can respect law enforcement officers but let's face it, it's "we have a suspect - let us find evidence to convict them." is their MO. It's the systems fault but at the moment, so many people make a good living out of that system... well, just don't expect it to change.

Neomaster35
it makes me laugh when people said it was outragous to make a film about 9/11, but hollywood had been making films about the IRA for years and sometimes making them looking glorious and justification to bomb and killed people in the UK. mcant
OMFG a massive company plans to profit from mass human suffering? I hate you, you have ruined my faith in Humanitry! As if I ever had any ROFL!
Tenebrae
Oh, neomaster... you're just forgetting how isolated America is. The biggest funder of the IRA was the USA... and strangely enough, most of the measures to stop the transfer of funds... well. America has less than a clean slate when it comes to "freedom fighters". Arktis
And here I was offended way back when I saw the Titanic movie, for the same reasons (aside from it being a sucky movie); it was making massive profit off of a horrible tradgedy. I guess it just takes something more personal or fresh in people's minds to get most people upset...
Tenebrae
You've not even mention the Murdock litigation. Whereby the family sued for demafation - because they showed him being a murderer... when he was a hero (litigation failed).
meateater
No one's stated the obvious... the movie looks stupid. What's with Nicolas Cage and his mustache? Maybe the preview showed the worst scenes of the movie (where everyone was f**ked by the corny script). Man, am I rubbed...
