NiteShire 3 - In the Federation, No One can hear you SCREAM!

Hade9001:  The ship's transporter, which has only 3 pads, and all turbolifts are 80% operational - ie they are fine if not overworked.

Before anyone else thinks of it - I only just did - the bio-filters attached to the transporter are offline, and do not appear repairable due to software loss.

If they worked this game would get real easy for the crew!  :)

The crew have all been working hard to restore the NiteShire's systems, and have turned in for the night only 30 minute previously.  A skeleton crew is still on the bridge and engineering.

Deck 2 is quiet.  Suddenly a bloodcurdling scream rings out, waking some of the people sleeping nearby.

Councilor Artkis lies still sedated in his office, as Kyran and TFMF run past the door to the Xenobiology lab.

Both stand shocked as the door opens.

Neomaster's body lies slumped over the just repaired alien scanner that was to be used once the ship made planetfall. A hole, somewhat larger than the one found in QueenSPOCK's head is clearly visible high on Neomaster's left cheek.

TFMF immediately tells Kyran to not let anyone in the room until he gets back, and runs off to tell Captain Niteshdw what has happened.

Death has visited the ESS NiteShire for a second time.  Is this a coincidence, or is something more sinister happening?  The crew is stranded in deep space, alone, and must face this nightmare head on if they are to survive!

What will the crew do now?  If crew members keep dying, major repairs will take longer and longer to complete...  There is more than one way to meet one's end in deep space.

Neo was picked by roll of the dice - well a number of them, actually.  Now he gets the chance to pick the next victim - which won't be random at all...

Chief Engineer: Please report on the progress of repairs.  Once internal sensors have been completed, I suggest allocating crew members to repair Sick Bay.  We need to find out exactly what happened to our two dead crew members.

(offtopic: apologies, I wasn't expecting the topic to go this fast, I'll try to keep a better eye on progress)

hmm, given we have only 9 crew left, my repair schedule has been disrupted. With an eye on past/current events, I'll try to adapt the schedule to make it applicable and safety first:

[me=TetsuoShima]posts the repair schedule for all crew (captain included, we need every man we can get):[/me]

  • internal sensors (6h):
    • Captain NiteShdw
    • Chief of Operations TFMF
    • Com Officer Megalith
    • Navigator Hilander72
    • Crewmember Kyran

    [*]sickbay (4h):

    • Doctor Bones2097
    • Science Officer Amnot Borg
    • Counselor Arktis

This should keep everybody busy (including myself, supervising), and help set minds at ease (by being focussed on something else, besides the death).

Once Sickbay is repaired, I suggest, the doctor investigate the body, while:

Science Officer Amnot Borg and Counselor Arktis, start repairs on the food replicators (8h).

(having 1 less crews thouroughly messes up the repair schedule)

If more people die, it may become useless to try and repair the engines, since at this rate we won't have enough people left to work on them for about 6 to 7 days in a row....

When repairs on internal sensors are complete (50%) the allocated crew will immediately reallocate to external sensors.

This means, after 12 hours we will have back online:

1. internal sensors 50%

2. sickbay

3. external sensors 50%

4. food replicators

The doctor will have had 8 hours to examine the body and surroundings with the help of internal scanners (only 6 hours with internal scanners, since repairs take 2 hours longer) and sickbay.

After this period the work schedule will be as follows (no break, we're doing an all nighter, working!):

  • industrial replicators (20h):
    • Captain NiteShdw
    • Chief of Operations TFMF
    • Crewmember Kyran
    • Doctor Bones2097

    [*]communications (9h):

    • Com Officer Megalith
    • Navigator Hilander72
    • Science Officer Amnot Borg
    • Counselor Arktis

When communications are repared (after a total of 21h, from the start of this schedule), the allocated crew will immediately begin work on:

Repairing deck 3 (9h)!

This means after 32 hours, we will have online:

1. internal sensors 50%

2. sickbay

3. external sensors 50%

4. food replicators

5. communications

6. deck 3

7. industrial replicators

At this point, it's probably a good idea to give the crew some rest, 32 hours is a long time to be working, at this point a serious investigation can be mounted, since most systems will be operational.

Also, from this point on, it's probably best to allocate myself for specific jobs.

Get to work ya'll! :)

Diagnostics of the Internal Sensor Array revealed that several Power Relays have fused and needs to be repaired...

* Navigator Hilander72 crawls back and forth, up and down, through Jeffries Tubes repairing Power Relays for the next couple of hours...

I emerge at the jefferies tube junction just outside the bridge. I can see that a lot of damage has been sustained. I go over to my station, where a job assignment has been left. The Internal Sensors need a new anadine relay.

Damn! Now i need to go all the way back down to the cargo bay to get a new relay!

I reported to sickbay to assist the doctor in repairs only to learn the ship's counselor is resting under doctor's orders. That means only we 2 are working on sickbay repairs. Time estimate must be updated.

*Did anyone else notice the damaged light panels in Xenobiology seemed to make neomaster's eyes glow green?* **seriously weird, we need repairs soonest**

Are we going to have the funerals when we have external sensors up?

Unfortunately, funerals will have to wait.  The bodies will be stored in the morgue once power has been restored.

Doctor: If the Counselor is in good health, I suggest that they be put to work.  I'm no doctor, but perhaps what the good counselor needs is something to do.  We need everybody right now.

Engineering repair status report update:

At this moment, internal sensors and sickbay have been repaired, repairs have started on external sensors and food replicators, estimating completion of both those repairs in 6 hours, that would be around 4am gmt realtime.

At that point, the second phase of repairs should commence immediately.

As for our dear comrade, xenobiologist neomaster, I found he smelled kind of funky, the last time I ran into him.

But I'm certain our good doctor will find out something soon. He'd better investigate all possible angles if he's going to find out whatever is happening to us...

Computer: Can you verify that our course and heading are set to our mission objective that we are traveling at 1/2 impulse power?  Can you estimate time to arrive at the mission objective at Warp 2?

Doctor: Unless assigned by our Chief Engineer to a more important task, your task is to use the upgraded internal sensors and repaired sickbay equipment to assess the cause of death of our crew members and whether there is a persistant threat to the crew.

Engineering report update:

By now,

the external sensors (50%) and food replicators should be back online. This means we could go to maximum impulse now (I think).

The second phase of repairs should also have begun: industrial replicators, communications and, later on, repairing deck 3.

Impulse Power, External Sensor and Deflectors are online...

* Course is plotted (on standby): Planet Okami, ETA 20 days at Full Impulse.

Diagnostics on Communications Systems revealed, that several burned out Subspace Relays needs to be repaired.

* Navigator Hilander72 crawls back and forth, up and down, through Jeffries Tubes (again) repairing Subspace Relays for the next couple of hours...

Hade9001:  Course and speed verified.  As adivised by Navigator Hilander72, ETA at the planet Okami at full impulse is 19 days 16 hours.

Repairs on the external sensors and food replicators now being tested.  If no additional problems arise, they will both be online shortly.

My initial testing of the partially repaired communications systems reveals further damage.  I will evaluate and provide an updated damage report.[br]Posted on: 17-03-2007, 05:42:18

Hade9001:  Attention ALL crew.

As requested, internal scan results complete.  ESS NiteShire crew in the proximity of crew member Neomaster in the hour before his death were...

  • Captain Niteshdw
  • TFMF
  • Bones2097
  • Hilander72  and
  • Arktis

ComputerHade9001:

What information was on the screen Neomaster was reading? Is the data still available? We'll have Communications up soon. I want to look at the data before we attempt contact with Okami and take a break.

*I think that was a coherent request. I'm getting groggy.*

Hade9001:  I still have no estimate on damage to the communications system.  Each repaired relay is revealing further damage.  I can not guarantee communications will be online within the next 48 hours.

Displaying summary of information being researched by Xenobiologist Neomaster before his death.

Knowledge of lifeforms in the Okami sector are sketchy, as no space faring race has colonised the area.  Most data has come from uncorroborated eyewitness reports, and in one case the examination of a spacecraft in which the entire crew died inexplicably.

Would you like a display of further information in respect of this research?

Oops...  Tonight should have been the first vote night.  My bad.

Well do that now.

Doesn't help some people haven't posted vital information in their possession yet...  [Cough, cough].

The alien scanner in Neomaster's room can be used to scan for signs of alien life.  Unfortunately, however,  the power supply has been damaged.

TetsuoShima advises that he can jerry rig a power supply, but it will only allow you to scan one person every 48 hours.

Instructions for use of the scanner are easily accessible from Neomaster's computer.

It seems that a vote would be the fairest way to determine who should be scanned.

Votes will be accepted until noon GMT tomorrow.

And, of course, you have to work out what you'll do if the person you scan is infected by an alien.

For gameplay purposes, this is concurrent with the last 24 hours, so you'll get no further with repairs.

Let the voting begin.

um?

noon gmt...

you mean like, errr, 2.5h ago??

nobody voted yet...

In any case, let me vote for our doctor to be scanned if still allowed. We need to be certain that at least he is clear of alien life forms. :)

[me=TetsuoShima]is sad...[/me]

no more repairs...

and things were going so well :D
