TetsuoShima
Since cliffhangers and having to wait to see conclusions s#ck, we'll be doing both of these on the same day. Have fun! ;D ---------------- Next episode: The Menagerie Thursday, July 19th [spoiler=Short Plot]The Enterprise diverts to Starbase 11 upon receiving a subspace call from the former captain of the Enterprise, Christopher Pike. Upon arrival they find Captain Pike, who is severely crippled by radiation burns, confined to a moving chair and his ability to communicate limited to the answers "yes" and "no." He couldn't possibly have sent the message... Trivia: - The footage from "The Cage" that was edited into the final master negative of "The Menagerie" was taken from what was thought to be the only color print of the original pilot. Years later, a full-color print of the complete "Cage" was discovered in Paramount's archives. - This episode marked the first appearance of a Commodore in Star Trek and the first time a Starfleet rank had ever been shown higher than Captain. - "The Menagerie, Parts I" and "II" constitute the only two-parter in the run of the original Star Trek. Combined, the two parts of this script only run to 64 pages, shorter than the scripts for many one-hour episodes. This is due to the heavy use of footage from "The Cage," which only had to be briefly noted by scene designations in the script format.
TetsuoShima
It was a decent episode, but given the short amount of time passed since having seen the pilot, I found it a tad boring, seeing all that same footage again. A nice way to re-use that original film though, not wasting one bit. :D
TFMF
Part 1 Quite an interesting episode, actually. They used way too much old footage, but it had a nice story and it was cool seeing Spock mutiny. Quickly watches part 2...
