vystral
what kind of firewall or antivirus software are you running?
hayden
wheres your internet connection from?? Do you have to set up any proxy settings to connect to the network the internet's on? But its most probably a firewall problem, and the new browser needs to be 'allowed' to connect to the net.
TetsuoShima
yup, what vystral and hayden said, check proxy and firewall, though, from what I remember when I upgraded, my opera rules were not removed from my sys when I uninstalled it and if you simply used the upgrade button instead of a complete uninstall and reinstall of the new version, your proxy settings should not have been affected. I don't have any better ideas though.

Amnot Borg
is this laptop using xp or vista? both are prone to damaging video drivers which might make it do this. also, it could be a bad installation of the browser. Or, it could be a windows problem that needs a fix from the update site.
