Startrek.com's message board area has been saying that it's "currently unavailable due to scheduled maintenance" for about the last 11 hours. That's a heck of a long downtime for any well-planned maintenance event. It's been my experience that, when a website says it's down for "scheduled maintenance" for more than 3 hours, that something both unscheduled and unpleasant occurred, usually accompanied by smoke rising from circuit boards. I'd give good money to hear what's going on in the engine room of Startrek.com... - Help, Jane, stop this crazy thing! - Captain, the engines can't take much more of this! - Bummer! - I.T. is a good way to die. - D'oh! - Where's the override? The override!!! - I dropped the baby, Mrs. Williams. I don't know why. - No, I don't want to hear any more excuses. If you're not here fixing the problem in the next ten minutes, I'm going to come down there and insert a large garden gnome in you. Good day.
