    Who's Best

Love the list coolcat. I have printed out the list as well as some of the other highlights others have given and hope to begin my Who downloading at once. It is so much fun finding a series that I enjoy so much yet have so much to explore. I can only hope the next Doctor will be as wonderful as the 9th.

    Who's Best

As a Trek fan, I have one favorite episode for the Classic Series, Next Gen, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. In my mind, each has had that one moment or moments that just seem to stand above the rest. Is there 1 difinitive episode of Doctor Who that out shines the rest, or if that is too hard, does each Doctor have his moment? If so, which would they be?

    Who's Best

I hope to download as many as I can but with SO many episodes to choose from, its hard to know where to start. It is like a huge buffet being placed before a starving man. I have a micro-network of scifi friends that I have been giving the new Whos to and they are also ready for more. Maybe, instead of a crash course, my best bet is to download an episode list and just try to start from the Unearthly Child and move forward. I just didn't want to waste time with rubbish episodes. I am still working on getting all the Treks! Ahh, so little bandwidth, so many downloads...Thanks for the suggestions thus far. I will avoid the gunfighters as suggested until I have the better episodes. Any others I should skip?

    Who's Best

Where I live, Episodes of Doctor Who are few and far between. About 10 years ago, we had one TV station broadcast them every Sunday afternoon for several months and then they dropped the series. I enjoyed the episodes while I had the chance to see them but it was just enough to make me a fan of the series but not near enough for me to grasp many of the details that many of you have of the show. Our TV station focused a lot on the Baker years but I have had the chance to see at least 1 episode of every Doctor. It has been so long that what little I knew of the Doctor's universe has faded from my memory. So, after that long introduction, I wish to ask a question from those who know Who. What episodes would you suggest to someone who would like to gain a deeper knowledge of the series and the universe of the good Doctor? Thanks to this site, I have come to love the new series. I have seen every one of those. Now, I want to start going back into the past and would like a few suggestions on which episodes you think would be best to start with.
  5. No matter what they come up with, they will never please everyone. I thought season 4 of Enterprise was by far the best yet. I was a big fan of DS9. I liked seeing a Trek where everything wasn't as antiseptic as TNG. Don't get me wrong, I loved TNG, but I liked the ides that DS9 didn't try to copy, it tried it's own style and from late season 3 on, worked very well. I grew up a Trek fan in the 70s when all we had were re-runs of the classic and one promise after another that Trek would be back some day. Trek thrived then, it will make it now. Some day, the pinheads at Paramount will once again see what a gem they have and will bring it back again. Until then, we have a whole lot more re-runs to enjoy while we wait.
  6. I Really liked how the movie picked up right after the Clone Wars animated episodes. When I left the film, I was SOOO glad Lucas had made a movie WITHOUT all of the kiddie humor in it. No giant frogs eating bugs, no Jawas falling off their animals, no lame jokes from 3PO, no Jarjar. Just a good story. When I left, I felt satisfied. We also sat down and watched Episode 4 when we got home and I was very pleased with how the movies tie in and how you now have a fresh new vision of the past when you watch A New Hope. I feel that Lucas did it right this time.
  7. I liked Trek first and will love it until the day I pass on, but I see no reason to trash one over the other. When Star Wars came out in 77, I saw it 25 times that year. I was in the book store the other day and was looking at some trek stuff when a guy I had seen around at work came over to say hello. He was a Star Wars fan and thought it was one or the other. It bothered me that he had to be that way. It doesn't have to be that way nor do I need to put down someone who likes one over the other. I like both, I like Battlestar, Blake's 7, Doctor who, B5, X-Files, and a crap load of other shows as well. When it comes to Science Fiction, Trek will always be my favorite, but IDIC still lives on. There is room for it all.
  8. I started online in 1984 with an Atari 800XL computer and a 300 baud modem. We had 3 or 4 local BBS connections. When we went up to 2400 baud, my cousin and I ran a BBS for a while. We were co Sysops. Some day, I will sit in my hyper-sonic ultra techno rocker and ponder on the good ol days. Right now, I have some more Treks to work on.
