  1. Beyond the technology, beyond the setting, beyond everything which is just a gimmic around which the show is set, lies a fundamental thing that makes or breaks the show: the writing. We've had too many unoriginal plots (either we've seen it in another series or it's just plain flat) and too much sloppy dialogue. The show isn't as popular as they wish because it is set in the past. A show set in the far future with this kind of low quality writing is going to fail just the same. Even with the Titan, even with the Enterprise. That being said, I will miss Enterprise for its few moments, its insight in Vulcan society in particular. EDIT: I'm particularly glad for one thing: Enterprise did not fall into the "character development episode" pattern of Voyager. In the final seasons, Voyager had about 2 episodes about the whole crew, then would go through all their characters, one episode at a time (and you know it's not gonna be an edge-of-seater when they focus on Chakotay or Kim), then another episode or two and AGAIN another round of character development. Enterprise has managed to draw a line between main and secondary characters, and keep it that way.
