  1. My name is Earl (man, that show is good :)) Everybody hates Chris (after most episodes I can be seen on the floor ROFLing) CSI (pretty much all of them, though I like those with Grissom the best) The Simpsons (not that much on TV anymore, as they keep rerunning Seasons 15 and 16 all the time here, but whenever I get to see a new(er) ep on the net, it's going to be watched) Dirty jobs (good show, yucky stuff.. how does he do it?) that's what I can think of apart from the regular sci-fi dose
  2. well... what I meant was that swearing dosn't have that effect on me. I don't care about it at all... part of the reason being that I come from Denmark, probably one of the countries where people swear the most... even kindergarten kids run around and say f*ck and s*it. The government is even trying to ban the use of swearing in schools, but to no avail in great part due to the freedom of speech. there ya go... ;)
  3. Either go for 98 or 2k. ME was that little rushed unstable piece of sh*t that was rushed out of Microsoft when they decided not to launch project "Neptune" (Neptune was a predecessor of sorts of XP that introduced a lot of elements found in XP today.) Seriously, I had a lot of bugs with ME back in the day, and being the only one who knew about computers at home then, it was a pain to have to fix my dad's computer all the time because of BSODs and drivers constantly going whacko. ME was also the OS shipped with my oooooold laptop... As soon my dad gave it to me for use in college, i threw XP on the disk. 98 is good, but beware restart hell everytime you install a program. Win2k is stable as a rock filled with diamonds, but can take up a lot of disk space... It takes about 1 gig AFAIK, but then again, you get an OS with support from MS, at least for some time to come. With the 4 servicepacks installed it takes about as much as XP (~1.5gigs). A definite plus is that you get NTFS If you are of the more experienced Linux type, I would recommend Damn Small Linux. It takes no more than about 50-60 MB of harddisk space, and it still comes with office stuff and a browser as well as some miscellaneous programs. If you aren't the experienced Linux type, instead go with Fluxbuntu it's essentially Ubuntu, but with the Fluxbox window manager. This system takes astoundingly few resources. As a basic user, the only thing you need to get familliar with is the apt-get and apt-cache commands in the terminal. Apt(itude) lets you download additional packages, eg. WINE that lets you run windows stuff. The fluxbox window manager takes some getting used to at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll LOVE it.
  4. IMO it's ok to write in caps if you want ppl to see something important... but not for anything else... worse even if people write in 1337 inbetween. in most places, all caps is like the internet version of shouting... that's how i look at it, i mean, come on, if somebody were to stand next to you and shout everything he said...? ;)
  5. my recommendation would be to store the data on a brand new flash. Flash is the most stable medium that I can think of, especially if it's brand new (or has been erased on less than about 1000 times.) Flash cards (and pens, disks etc.) get less reliable with use and time, especially because of the rather forceful method used when deleting stuff. If you use a flash card or pen, make sure to take good care of the interface. always keep the parts made of metal away from dust and sharp things. Harddisks are also good, at least if you don't use one that is close to death, however, they are pretty fragile... any drop from more than 10-20cm from a surface can potentially destroy it, along with the data. ALso, you need to keep it away from any kind of magnetic source. DVD+/- R(W)s have a max lifetime of about 5-10 years no matter what the manufacturer says. In the equation you have to include normal use, dust, scratches (inevitable) and storage conditions... by the way... there's no way to tell for sure that a DVD can survive for 100, 500 or 1000 years.
  6. as Cartman said once in South Park: f##kf##kedyf##kf##kf##k
  7. i'm @ school, so I have to remember it all Every single Voyager episode, First season on VHS, the rest on my harddrive at home. A few assorted DS9 VHSs Best of both worlds on VHS (gotta love those borg for being in great episodes, when there's a borg in one, then it's sure to be good) I used to have star trek: Rebel Universe for the C64, but last time I wanted to try, the disk was busted. Also used to have a model of the 1701-E, until i knocked it over by accident and it got pretty much destroyed. I used weeks on putting it together and painting it juuuust right. Murphy's law just so happened to drop in at that moment :'(
  8. all star trek is easy to come upon, I can just say go look for ds9 torrents on google... now the problem is getting a good torrent.
  9. hmm... I should have seen it on tv-links.co.uk before the site owner got busted for whatever he did wrong on his page. I saw it was there, but I never got around to watch it. before anybody say something, I have to say that it's unlikely that this and Torchwood ever get broadcast here in the DK... so stop whining about me engaging in piracy (yarr!!!).

  11. well... I can say that i'm never going to sit next to a left-handed computer user. I was a a LAN party and this person sits next to me that used his mouse with his left hand (on the left side of his keyboard 'n' all). In a game (I think it was Battlefield 1942 or something) I needed to turn right and he aparrently had to turn left very rapidly... then it said "CRASH" and I had to go to hospital because my ring finger was broken (strangely not my little finger) I remember my parents were all o.O when they saw I came home with a broken finger. why and how the finger broke is still a mystery though... I got the very same callus that Antilles has... sometimes it disappears, even if i'm using the mouse often
  12. I thought this would happen... what makes the wii perfect is the cheap price and the new method of controlling games, and is actually the strongest console on the market. a PS3 on the other hand has a price much like a brand new computer that can take on most of the newest games... I say, go buy a computer rather than a PS3... there is more bang for the buck in a PC, plus the pc can do other things than playing games. I guess we will all have to sit back and watch the fireworks, not only with M$ and Sony shooting themselves in the foot, but also with the betamax/VHS war of the 21st century
  13. I have used firefox for about a year or two, and i mostly liked it because of the tabbing system (not all those IE windows in the process bar :D) and those very good extensions (althugh I prefer runnung with a "clean" firefox) I've always hated IE because of bugs and a nearly non-working popup-ad-blocker. For a time (when I got Vista) I had to run IE7 instead because of some compatibility issues with firefox... trust me, that was the worst internet-surfing two weeks for me... I still can't get over that M$ has been able to mess up the tabbing system (firefox's tab system is more neat and tidy IMO and opens new tabs in the order they are opened in) plus the 64-bit IE7 can't do much flash and shockwave yet Also, I feel that firefox is more secure than IE.. gives a good extra bit of security over the router firewall... in fact, my dad's computer gets overrun by viruses nearly all the time, while mine dosn't. My dad was an IE user until just recently when his computer had to be reformatted. God bless Firefox ;)
  14. By God what an episode... I was literally jumping around in happyness when Master said his name :D I hope they keep up the good work on the season 3 episodes (those eps with Rose were lame compared to these) I have a bat ready if they screw the rest of this season up (heaven forbid) :D
  15. well... I understand the last bit, but the entire "Doctor gets packet from Sally -> gets trapped in the 60's -> leaves messages for Sally -> Sally finds house -> Sally gets messages -> Situation resolved -> Sally gives Doctor packet." thing is still a loop since the chain of events start at the same point they end... it might be a linear stream from the audience's and everybody but the involved part's point of view... what started the loop and what ended it? You must remember that at the end of the episode Sally meets the "past" doctor, from before he ended up in the 60's Then the whole thing happens again in some way... it is a linear string of events from their point of view, but there is still a loop.
