  1. Saw parts of it, didn't seem too spectacular. Looks like it might have some potential later in the series, but I'm not too sure about it from the first episode alone.
  2. Darn, I might be one of the youngest people here. I hate when that happens. But I think time travel would probably give me worse headaches than either of you. I haven't seen enough time to understand how it works normally.
  3. http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=241 That's about the summary of what I've heard. I think I'll wait until I can rent.
  4. Ah, I see your point about the travel time. But I thought there were some sort of polar ice caps on Mars? Are those unsafe? Am I uninformed of recent discoveries about those? Or did I read that in Weekly World News?
  5. Well, I live in California so I reject any theories involving my home state falling into the ocean. As for the rest of them, well . . . I hope something similar to the Shadowrun situation comes to be. I wouldn't mind that so much. Considering how many people believe that tripe though, I'm going to pretend that on 11:11:11 AM on December 21, 2012, I'll somehow magically get superpowers of some kind. That logic works well enough for me. I'd settle for a Dalek under Utah, though.
  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Andromeda_Strain_%28film%29 I have it on VHS, I bought it from the dollar movie section at the library . . . I remember the first time I watched it, late on a Saturday night, scared to death that blood-clotting bacteria were going to get me for some reason. XD
  7. Ack! They're all in the same or similar genres! And I love most of them, just in different ways! WHY DO YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE? I guess I have to choose Iron Maiden though. IT CAME DOWN TO EENIE MEENIE MINEY MOE. I'd rather listen to something a little less headbangy than most of those options right now, though.
  8. My friend Lance used to play the Viridian City Song on the way to 5th period.
  9. I don't see why they'd have to have a still suit function if you return to base every time you have to urinate. I mean, people wouldn't have to live in those suits like they did in Dune, would they? And if they're going to Mars, they could possibly get water from sources already present. Maybe. (The above paragraph was not based on any scientific research, knowledge, or "book-learnin".)
  10. Or because the original 150 Pokemon were about as rocking as Onyx in a mosh pit.
  11. If I ever have to live on a space station, I will make sure the following signs and flyers are distributed: "Cults Are Bad!" "Drugs Are Bad(unless they're synthetic and distributed by a contorted government system that makes about as much sense as a raccoon singing The Crazy Frog Song in a blender)" and "Silver Space Suits Do Not Equal Singing Skill! For The Sake Of Others, Keep Family Entertainment Acts In Space To Yourself!"
  12. Oh dear Lord, the smiles . . . it's like the Brady Bunch in space . . . *cries*
  13. On December 21st. 2012 (sadly) you'll have plenty of company. *sigh* All right, which impending apocalypse do I have to avoid this time? I've heard of this, but I've never actually seen any logic behind it, and I'm something of a skeptic.

    NiteShire 5

(does a barrel roll) Not really sure how to play, but if you guys are willing to put up with a n00b, I'm utterly in for whatever you're willing to throw at me(as long as it doesn't stick and it isn't flammable).
  15. But I've always had the sneaking suspicion I'm going to die young . . . and I can't change all of them . . . me giving you hope is TOO MUCH PRESSURE. *insanity laughs, under pressure I'm cracking* Everything you say is true, but it doesn't explain why most of these young breeders do not seem as if their genes would benefit mankind. Also, I should really make an Off-Topic Thread, before this one starts to read like a Faulkner novel. (Note: Tierkreis hates Stream-Of-Consciousness writing above all else in the world forever and always. She likes it in shows[scrubs], music[REM's The End Of The World As We Know It], and even forums, but in books it is simply unbearable to her. THE MORE YOU KNOW!)
  16. Umm . . . if you read the rest of the first page, then not really . . . we kinda branched off from the normal conversation for a minute there. Anything else you don't understand can most likely be Google'd.

    Summer

PARTY! *chugs some sort of unidentified beverage, promptly passes out because she's never drunk alcohol before* Ow . . . my inhibitions . . . (In all reality, the most eventful thing this year has been a trip to the beach. Aside from that, it's staying at home with the occasional trip to the mall with friends to look at cute nerdy guys, video games, books, whatever's at Sharper Image that I can't afford, and swords.)
  18. Insulted? Why would you be insulted, Hilander?
  19. Don't get your hopes up. I go to a California public high school that has a day care . . . that's right, a day care run by the school for students only. Let that sink in for a minute. And I can't even find a boyfriend. I need to resurrect Darwin for the sake of analyzing how "survival of the fittest" works in high school breeding.
  20. #1 for me will always be Cowboy Bebop. It shoots like a western, looks like an anime, kicks like a martial arts movie, but it has all the science fiction-y future world goodness a girl like me could need, right down to the cryogenics, cybernetics, hyperspace and anti-aging science. Oh yeah. #2 is FLCL. Just because. And the soundtrack's like ???OMGWONDERFULBLISS???!!! #3 is Trigun. LOVE AND PEACE! (and donuts and guns and colonization and SEED ships and more guns and gangs and sadism and ?) Yeah. The only anime I get outside of [adult swim] anymore is at the super-awesome Fanime Convention, but I can safely say those are my top 3.
  21. Science fiction is considered nerdy because most people don't want to analyze and explore humanity from a different perspective. Non-nerds want to win the football game or get the pretty blond girl and watch the newest chick flick. Non-nerds don't use words like "contemporary", "fanciful" "prose", "complicated", "similies", or "perspective". And that is why I am proud to be a nerd. I'll take an Asimov reader over a "really hot ass" any day of the week, and twice on Saturday nights.
  22. FMA was/is a great series in both the manga and the anime. The movie was rather depressing, though. But seeing Al with a body for me was like having a wish fulfilled. I remember the first time I heard Alphonse's voice coming out of the armor. ::) My jaw nearly hit the floor.
  23. About me looking at your email, or about the New World Order brought on by the Female Army?
  24. Oh, what the hell. .com/outsidetheuniverse Don't go spreading it around the internet or stalking me or anything. I do post a bit of personal info up there. Oh, and I spam bulletins, so BEWARE!
  25. I suppose you have a point. In that case, they must be chrome. Everything is chrome in the future.
