One way to save money on making Doctor Who would be to actually make more episodes, particularly 2 or 3 part stories. In doing this they would get more value for money from props and sets as they would be reused more, this saving would enable more episodes to be filmed thus more episodes to sell to the overseas market. The only drawback with this idea is the fact that the cast and crew are already complaining that the current 9 month work schedule is too grueling.
