Ulysses
well if they force the prices up all they will do is encourage people to download them from free sites. I dont think the record companies have really any legal arguement that they can demand parts of the advertising revenue, and i hope they get there arses kicked in court if they try. theaveng
The record companies formed an illegal price-fixing cartel to artificially inflate CD prices from $10 to $18 during the 1990's..... thereby ripping off the customers. They are greedy & will do anything to grab money, including breaking the law. So no, I feel to compassion for them. Screw them. troy
Beawulf
Isnt it the record companies taking out the advertising for the artists in the first place? I would like to see a large group of artists take steps to change the industry and get rid of the dominance of the record labels that are getting most of the profits. In my opinion the artists should be getting the larger cut.

GorunNova
The Canadian version already does that, as well as puts fees on burnable CDs and DVDs... that's why they haven't been able to make file sharing illegal here ^^
