"Kleptocracy"? Is tha at a government based on stealing things? Like that city of thieves in "Breath of Fire"? If so, I wanna live in a Kleptocracy.

wooow, I never imagined so many different names for forms of government would exist. :stare:

 

lemme give it a try:

 

...hmm I cannot summarise this in 3 different types:

 

 

1. Anarcho-communism:

- in that it stresses egalitarianism (everybody is equal up to a certain degree, there are still classes, but given the amount of members, most are completely equal to each other)

- the introduction of the gift economy to facilitate the sharing of goods: you give to get... :)

 

2. National anarchism:

- one of their core positions is: We simply want our own space in which to live according to our own principles. (I'd say this applies too)

 

3. Enlightened absolutism:

- to allow religious toleration, freedom of speech and the press, and the right to hold private property (private property being your own posts and torrents, you can do with them as you wish, edit delete, create modify)

- belief to have the right to govern by birth (birth of the website in this case, and rightly so!)

 

4. Constitutional monarchy:

- the country is governed by a constitutional set of laws: the forum rules.

 

5. Rational-legal authority:

- the authority of an organization or a ruling regime is largely tied to legal rationality, legal legitimacy and bureaucracy (NiteShdw IS the legal owner of the site)

 

6. Bureaucracy:

- This office organization is characterized by standardized procedure, formal division of responsibility, hierarchy. (standard procedure for posting/for uploading torrents; responsibility is devided for the mods; some hierarchy is present)

 

7. Geniocracy:

- candidates for office and the body electorate should meet a certain minimal criteria of intelligence (that's evident) :cyclops:

 

 

 

I'd say that is has nothing to do with a Kleptocracy:

- a government so corrupt that no pretense of honesty remains

- the mechanisms of government are almost entirely devoted to taxing the public at large, or using their control of government processes in order to amass substantial personal fortunes for the rulers and their cronies

-> not exactly what this site is about I'd say, more like what the 'industry' would turn it into if it were up to them...

 

 

 

O, did you guys know there is such a thing as a Pornocracy, yes, it means exactly what you'd think it would mean. :cyclops:

I think that NiteShdw best fits into one of these (taken from the above mentioned wikipedia article on types of government):

 

1. Benevolent Dictatorship

2. Meritocracy

3. Participatory Democracy

 

I spent about 10 minutes quickly looking at the list, and these three seemed like the best possible fits. I would like to open this up for debate.
