World in Conflict Alternative reality cold-war based wargame from Massive Entertaiment( their Ground Control and it's sequel got both 8.5 from GS) SPORE Will Wright is a genius( he created games like Sim City and SIMS)..and this one it's the most ambitious game in development right now. Europa Universalis 3 Third entry in legendary strategy series COMBAT MISSION: ShockForce Combat Mission is by far the best and most realistic series of wargames ever created(CM and CM2 both got AAAs at gamespot). Now Battlefront is moving the series into modern setting and to brand new engine(first one since 2001) Day of Atlantis SF RTS with strong focus on water(breaking dams, flooding terrain, creating and using tsunamis etc) From makers of Sparta: Ancient Wars Mythic Wars A turn-based fantasy strategy game, inspired by Master of Magic Disciples III: Renaissance Disciples II: Dark Prophecy was one of best turn-based fantasy strategy games of last few years. It was released in 2002, around the same time such "monsters" of this subgenre like Heroes4, Age of Wonders 2 and Etherlords were released. And yet it stood proudly next to them and secured it's place as one of premier franchises of this type. Now it's back in full 3D and done by Akella. Inhabited Island Turn-based wargame set in the world of Strugatsky brothers' bestseller "Inhabitated Island". Supreame Commander - been waiting for this for AGES!!! I simply loved Total Annhilation (I have all the expansions and TA: Kingdoms - and it's expansion :D ) Can't wait for this one. Another one i'm looking foward too (although wasn't aware was in development untill you posted it above) is Settlers VI. I played the last one (and it's expansion :P) and thought it was really good - with a great story to it as well. Interested to see how this one turns out. Fenriswolf Posted January 12, 2007 Share Posted January 12, 2007 With the release of Vista there's tentative (very) talks of a PC version, remember that Bioware said Jade Empire was Xbox only and TA-DAAAA PC version of that with enhancements over the console. But shhhh They could be watching. Bioware would be nuts if they didn't port this to the PC to be honest, it's shaping up to be the best science fiction RPG of all time. You play an evil fantasy overlord that commands imp-like minions and try to take over the world. With the Unreal Warfare added to it , it's clear that Epic intends to offer something for the more tactical gamer, with the Warfare mode focussing more on strategy, resource management and teamwork. Compared to the port costs, it makes sense to release on all next-gen platforms AND the PC... it's merely the console producers that induce titles like Halo etc. to be monogamous. I think Overlord is only similar to Dungeon Keeper in that - you're evil and have minions... it's FPS, Dungeon Keeper was a god/strategy. Still fun to play the bad guy. USWhoFan Posted March 2, 2008 Share Posted March 2, 2008 The wife and I have been playing Overlord and it's a lot of fun, although aggravating at times. (I guess like all games can be from time to time.) I wouldn't really call it a FPS, although it does have some elements of a FPS. It has elements of FPS, Strategy and a Roll Playing game all rolled into one. It's not exactly like a sequel to Dungeon Keeper, but it's definitely the next generation of the game and just as fun, for me at least. I've also been playing "The Witcher", so far i can't stand it, too much like Final Fantasy for my tastes. (Too much going on I guess, but I'll let you know more once I've finished Overlord and devote more time to The Witcher.) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
