Science fiction has changed because its moved with us into this digital "information age". Not surprising really because in its early forms there was that air of mystery/imagination/strangeness that was new and entertaining, alas all very common now.

The Quality of Sci-Fi Series This Last Year...
Stu replied to razorlock's topic in General Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Totally agree about the latest offerings from the so called larger networks, a poor showing to say the least. Prime example in the movie scene is definitely DOOM. -
I thought the Mayans had a calender that shut the show down in 2011 ?? Any Myan experts out there to explore this one "while we have time to".

Well I have one and it's in the last Dr Who series - Father's Day

Basically (very) its alien domination, using selected humans as agents to do there dirty work. a bit like Nazis using a select class of jews to feed the concentation camp furnaces. Have to say the John Christophers books were very cool, I found the series a bit slow in some ways. Go to Cult at the BBC, sums it up well.

Hydo electricity generation is king in New Zealand, I have often looked at the outgoing tide rushing out of harbours and wondered if one day the power of the moon will be also exploited ??

Classic Dr Who fan here, did like most of the new series, especially the sound quality.

Star Trek is my favourite, I saw it from a young age in the early 1970,s so has always been in my life - where as Star Wars came on the scene much later , loved the movie and it's cutting edge special effects.

Come on crew !! What about THUNDERBALL !! a real 60's classic and one of the Bond movies that seems to always entertain no matter how often you watch it.

Hi All, Doom the movie WAS CRAP !! With such a vast ammount of material to exploit from all the Doom games the end movie result was just plain feeble. I bet there is Disney stuff out there with more go to it. Stu
