  1. I'm starting to watch First Wave and Supernatural. Do ya know what I really hate?! Shows that dont end with closure. I mean, Threshold? Odyssey 5? Isnt anyone else miffed that they just ended? Do they ever release the scripts to see what happens?
  2. Yeah, space above and beyond was good. But hek, thats *ANOTHER* show that was never finished. I mean, I liked Odyssey 5 and Threshold. Now what? No closure. Were going through a sci drought
  3. Yeah Ive got Firefly, Odyssey 5, The Last Train miniseries, Dune miniseries, Jeremiah, V TV series, Day of the triffids mini series, Earth 2, all the star treks. Dont like Farscape much. Nor the old Dr Whos or old scifis. I seriously need some sort of scifi tv or miniseries fix.
  4. Ok, so DOA is Threshold, the 4400 and Ive got to wait for battlestar, stargate sg1, atlantis, surface, invasion and the rest. So, what are people watching? Gotta be something?
  5. Meh, none of those measures could be considered proper treatments to secure yourself. The solution - dont share. Just leech it all from a premium news host. The better usenet provides also ssl encrypt the session.
  6. Caldor

    into MA??

As a child I learned martial arts to defend myself against bullies at school. The thing I like about, now as an adult, is the philisophy of the whole excercise. Its not about learning to bash people. I do far less excersise than what I should now Im older, maybe I should get back to it. The movies themselves, I dont like them to be honest. Dunno, scifi to me is always about opportunity and potential - rather than the here and now. Im excited about the possible futures.
  7. Its not on usenet either yet. Torrents are so slow when the seeders are few.
  8. Season ender was a shocker..... Such a shame, shows like SAAB and Odyssey 5 ending without ever closing the plots.
  9. I simply dont find the male form attractive. I dont see other men and think, oh gee, I like his body. No Im not homophobic, but whatever the reason, I just dont look at other men and feel anything. My idea of "hottest" then is probably more to do with how they act and how they portray themselves as the character. There are many great male actors, thats for sure. I think though, with SciFi, Harrison Ford has to be number one.
  10. Ive been quite enjoying Jeremiah. People dont like it here? Its edgy and hard, not unrealistically clean like Star Trek. Its a Mad Max post apocolyptic type drama.
  11. I just watched the pilot. Twas good. When they axe TV shows its hurtful to not see the end. I mean, space above and beyond, that doesnt end. Looks as though Odyssey 5 doesnt either. I would have thought that closure type feature movies like Serenity are more viable given many of the props and so forth allready exist from the series....I would hope that makes the cost of producing a closure type movie less.
  12. I only got S02E01 - I dont have the others sorry.
  13. Go and read his book for the details. A few sentences from me wont present the data and evidence you need to know. Its not his opinion, its scientific fact and this is exactly what I mean about people needing to get educated and overcome misinformed opinion. Look into the energy density of hydrogen. Look into the efficiency of first and second generation solar cells. Look into the current longeivty of hydrogen fuel cells and compare that to the average longevity of otto cycle engines. There is other technologies youve probably never heard of, such as special algea strains that produce hydrogen and could possibly be commercialised in giant vats. The short of it is none of these technologies is an immediate solution and this is why political leaders are continuing to use whats left of the oil because to change to something else is going to be an *immensely* unpopular change to socities that no one wants to suffer from. And the economic impact......you have to understand that energy is the basis of any economy and a lack of energy could force a global depression the like of which we have never seen.
  14. Theres no mystery about the problems with fuel cells and Hydrogen, and whats Roberts has said certainly isnt unique to him about them. Roberts has been widely praised for a balanced and sobre look at the situation with the oil economy. Hydrogen. Storage and conveyance is a nightmare. The energy density of the fuel is very poor. Solar panels. Third generation panels show promise but until they are widely available the current generation simply have a cost per watt that is too high against other alternatives. Fuel Cells. Economically similar to the Dot Com era around 2000. An overnight fad that gave far too many promises and hype in an unreasonably short amount of time. The technology is interesting but it clearly needs more development and time. It simply is not reliable enough with the current lifespan of the device and it currently is too expensive in comparison to otto cycle engines. Many companies went broke in a similar way to the dot com bubble bursting and its largely now seen as a significantly longer term proposition.
  15. Bah. All this misinformed opinion in this thread. If you read Roberts' book, you will see that hydrogen has its own set of problems. You will also see that fuel cells do too. There is no current "answer" and what were seeing is a continuation of the oil economy while it remains cheap and avilable. The "answer" requires alot more research and funding for the hopefuls.
