I find the difference to be insanely negligible. I mean it has to be zoomed in to see the differnce, and on top of that the differences zoomed in are very very very mild. I have to stare at the two images for awhile to notice any difference. I'm more concerned with better audio on more dvd's, that gets skimped sometimes. Or drastically increasing the video quality so it is noticeable easily. Which may happen with these new medias coming out. Personally i can't wait for the holodiscs that are going to replace them. A TB of space on a disc will leave room for uncompressed video and audio :) -
I really hope there will be a next movie, or even the tv series starting up again!!!! It will be really strange without Wash though, I don't think i will ever get over that. Do you think the Shepard will turn out not to be dead???? or is it going to be a movie where the crew are doing something and it happens to be digging back further and further into his past. Or maybe they inheriate something from him or something which makes them go on a search for answers or something.

For me nothing beats mainlining a good speedball.

It is deffently good enough on its own, but i think it would be even better if you've seen the tv series first, only 14 episodes anyways. The charachters are so much more developed for you then, and cause of that the movie so much more suspenceful. And there are aspects of the movie which will make an episode or two not as enjoyable. And thinking about it further, its VERY important to see the tv series first if you want to be blown away. Seeing the tv series first will make increase the enjoyment of the film by a factor of 10.432, not that not seeing the movie first would make it non-enjoyable, but having seen the movie with severeal friends who watched the tv-series and several who hadn't, the ones who watched the tv-series enjoyed it much more, and were much more impacted by it. And the tv series is just great anyways :) I think i'm going to watch Josh Whedon's other creations, buffy and angel, cause of it.

Killing him off well leaving so much of a mystery about him is crazy!!!!! I guess they could do something in a movie where they learn lots about his past or something, I really wanted to know more about him. i hope time travel doesn't get involved though.

YEAH SO SERIOUS!!! i'm stick in shock!!!!! !!!!! so are you saying there are several of The Shepard??? like he is a clone or something, like the assasin is a younger version of him?? or am I totally reading into what you said completely wrong :P How was the turn out at the theatre??? for my showing there was only about %70 of the theatre filled, kind of dissapointing but hopefullly that amount will stay that amount for a long time or increase. I really want this film to do well. WASH!!!!! COME BACK!!!!!!
-
SPOILER!!!! I CAN'T BELEIVE THEY KILLED WASH!!!! AND THE SHEPARD!!!!!!!!!! Seriously at the end of the movie i had no idea who was going to die, after Wash died and the Shepard i thought anyone of them could go pretty much, haven't felt so much suspense in a movie for a long time, really well put together film. I think he balanced well between making a movie for people who saw the tv series and making a movie for people who haven't. Although i think he leaned slightly more towards those who have seen the tv series, and understand that Wash and the Shepard dieing is insane!!!! like WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I didn't like how we saw the reavers right away though, i really enjoyed the suspense and mystery of not showing them. Although i don't think the movie could have done it another way. Would have made the film way too long to have the suspence of not seeing the reavers for 45 minutes. Its just too bad people who haven't seen firefly will never feel that :P And i really like how they paralled the assasin and the Shepard. That was really good, but man WASH AND THE SHEPARD ARE DEAD!!!! WAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

What if the film sucked? Lots of great books made lousy movies... like Earthsea. Or Foundation. Or Starship Troopers. The movies sucked, but the books were excellent. Isaac Asimov... almost everything he wrote was a classic. The Forever War The Mote in God's Eye Speaker for the Dead The Best Science Fiction of the Year (anthology series) Heck just go search "Hugo Award" and you'll get over 50 novels worth reading. troy isn't the forever war by Joe Haldeman , and Speaker For the Dead, Orson Scott Card?? and I thought Foundation hadn't been made into a movie yet??
-
For One that has not been made into a movie, i would have to say Greg Egan - Diaspora for sure, just thinking of that book makes me happy :) so many great ideas in it. If you like the science part of science fiction alot its deffently a book to check out. here is the author's web-site

for me you can't beat Hikaru No Go, I mean it was an anime about the game "GO" and it was DAMN good, like you could enjoy it without even knowing how to play Go, and it was so intense, even though it was about Go, SO GOOD!!!
-
Yeah so much of the stuff on that list shouldn't be considerd sci-fi, its hard to define the border between sci-fi and fantasy, but common some stuff is just fantasy.

Whats your favourite sci-fi movie fromt he above following??? I would have to say its a close tie between bad santa and be cool for me. Bad Santa really pushed the boundaries of science fiction and was a brilliant idea movie. Many of the science concepts in it are actually being researched now!!!! But Be Cool is just amazing!!!!! i mean you can get into formats on this site now!!!! and one is CVCD!!!!!

He was preparing for a sequel. A good one too. II and III and IV :P which are all sort of linked together somewhat are my fav TOS movies IV less its mour humours which makes it good in a different way, i totally forget the real reason, he had to do something with the engine or something or the ship would explode or something or its orbit would decay or something.
