    X1900GT

Well screw nutegg then. Just when I told them to replace it with the 1900 they said it's OUT OF STOCK. So I went to zipfly and got a x1950GT for 10 dead emperors more. I don't think I'll be doing biz with nutegg ever again. Their turnaround time for RMA processing is horrendous, and no cross shipping for defective parts returns, even for businesses.

    X1900GT

Gotta love newegg, except for the slow turnaround time on RMAs. Just had my 2nd x800GTO fry on me, so now I get a new vid card since they don't stock the 800 anymore. Just got lucky they have this sapphire one for $10 off so now it matches the price of my x800 when I bought it. Thanks GeCUBE for being such a c##ppy manuf of vid cards! At least I get a vid card that should be 2.5x faster than the old one I only had for 1 yr even though it's prb a 2 yr old card, and got a rebate on hahaha. Maybe it's good fortune.
  3. Clearly BRUCE CAMPBELL was the one who should have been selected for the role of her father. If you have it, you don't need it. If you have it, you need more of it.
  4. If they would have used the original costumes and sound effects from the movie instead of wasting money on rubber suits, they could have spent more on the stories. Staff weapons from the movie sounded like the god of thunder after spritzing his throat with roach killer. As for them not having kids, he would eat them out of a ship, or they would eat him. Also when they went back in time, the kid would have been destroyed, never been born, same way they didn't remember what happened except for T since he was protected. Besides, kids don't work in shows like this. Can't stand them. Not mature enough to be scifi actors, esp when keeping the secret of the stargate and the klingon trash that comes through it is required. They wasted time with that reverse time c##p. They could have simply asgard beamed the "ori destructo beam" around the other side of the ship or sent it in another direction, and then had time to add more the the story. Shake that laffy jaffy
  5. [glow=red,2,300]Bobba Fett wouldn't need no shield![/glow]
  6. One of my personal UMICH homepages was blocked, but the other one is allowed. Too bad the unblocked one only has 30MB. I had put 1GB of stuff in the other one. Bastards. Not only that, their firewall makes connecting to Chinese websites slow from the US, along with file transfers.
  7. I can't find my old post for the suggestion, but I had suggested a static background image / transparent foregroundfor the forum. Like at this link for the guy who does some of the stargate musical scores http://www.myspace.com/acreemusic But with a star trek background image, like picards ready room or observation lounge.
  8. Maybe it's time to change the name
  9. They can use george costanza wearing his kirk wig from seinfeld. granted he may be a little short and portly..

  11. This stuff just keeps getting weirder and weirder. What a bunch of messed up rednecks. Some prince von anal [who is still married to zsa zsa] now claims to be the babies daddy, and will file a lawsuit if he does not get custody of the kid. News flash old dude. Adultery is ILLEGAL. And he wanted to adopt smith to make her a princess, and then proceed to continue bonking his new princess daughter. Good riddance to these freaks. I'm glad the population no longer gets to put up with the insanity of her life. I put her right up there with trailer trash britney spears [who will NOT make a comeback]. I hate those fake blondes. It gives the real ones a bad name. Frankly I think she blew her brains out with a straw.
  12. OMG...in what way? LOL. :o She looks skinnier, and I dig the disheveled look she's got going
  13. Her mugshot is sexier than her press photos.

Had a good chuckle when I heard the emperors real voice
  15. Seeing the future wins hands up. Playing the lotto and winning every time can buy all the rest. Because obviously money is the motivation for life.
  16. Here's the thread I started before, but the pics got wiped when the forum was hacked last time. http://forum.nitescifi.com/index.php?topic=8364.0 As for games, I think it's due to them not recognizing DX10. I had to install some DX9 drivers to get a game to work. Forgot which game I tried to play, might have been star wars, because I wanted to try it with the new dolby realtek vista surround drivers and my 8 speaker headphones. I didn't bother isntalling many programs on it since the few I tried didn't work properly, and esp had problems with my tv tuner card drivers. Couldn't get the viewing software to run even though drivers from MS vista update were installed for it. My copy doesn't expire till July 1, but I don't think I'll put it back on. Oh, and for the vista performance rater on my system CPU 4.9 RAM 4.5 AERO VID 4.7 DESKTOP VID 4.7 HD 5.6 On a scale of 5.9 max I guess. I read the file it outputs to and said it limited the score on the ram because I didn't have above 1.5GB. What bull. All the reviews say 2GB doesn't add much speed to it anyway, so 4GB would be overkill.
  17. It can be run on dual boot if the partition you run it on is the primary or whatever. Which I think you need a partition manager program to set it up that way, which is what I did. Coz apparently there is no way in winXP to make both partitions primary system. I was in their beta test program, and gave feedback on compatibility issues, and vista has a long way to go if it's still anything like build 5600 and 5744. I just know I won't be using it anytime soon since it doesn't work well with one of the IM programs I use, and isn't compatible with most old programs, or even ones made today. It's pathetic. The 64 bit is a joke, don't even bother with it. It takes about 100MB more ram to run it, on top of the 400MB ultimate uses. And it's just a hassle to have 2 directories where 64 and 32 bit porgrams are filed under. Not to mention most software and drivers (tv tuner card, webcam) made is still only 32 bit. The only thing different is the flashy beads and cheap trinket looking desktop. The other reason being DX10, which there aren't any games out yet using that. I was running it on a AMD64 x2 3800, 1GB 800mhz ram, ATi X800 256MB x16 vid, and it ran smooooooth. It was marginally faster than XP, but when running the defrag, there was no display to show how far along it was. Maybe they've added those graphics.
  18. Yup. I try to keep it in 6th as much as possible. At 55 it's running a little over 2k rpm. But with the German geared tranny it would probably do 1500 and add 5 mpg. I think I read on a website that you'd save more gas by gunning it to 60 or whatever speed you needed instead of taking it slow and rowing through all the gears. I just think the US has gone nuts with big N/A engines when the world would be better served with smaller turbo ones. Not to mention the US doesn't build good engines anyway. Thinking of the ford 3.8L coolant leak problems. And as it turns out, all bush suggested was for him to grow more corn. Ethanol is not the answer.

    Favorite car

New season of TOP GEAR tonight on the BBC. FINALLY!!!!!!!!! And looks like the Bugatti Veyron will get punished in a round of tests.
  20. By the time the hamster got to him in the mail, it'd be dead, what with the delivery services not moving packages on the weekends(stupid businesse move there) I have no problem driving well above 130, sitting comfortably and securely behind the wheel of my twin turbo Audi. But the problem is not the width and length of American roads. It's the condition of these potholed, rutted, manhole cover infested death fareways. The thickness of concrete used isn't even half of what they put into the German Autobahn. The only country I feel assured of safely driving those speeds would be in Germany, and only in a German car. But I'd be more than happy in a VW GTi or smaller Audi IF they had the damn features that they only seem to put in the bigger cars. There's a reason the speed limit used to be 55, and why so many old and some new cars have highlighted numerals at 55. Because it SAVED GAS when there was a gas crisis in the 70's! People seem to have forgotten that time in history. Since the idiotic US auto industry is too incompetent to build efficient vehicles, and people are too poor to buy German cars(which would support their development of alternative fuel engines), the only solution again is to reduce the speed limit and viciously enforce it. They just upped the limit for semis here, and these things already get a measly 5mpg. It's not a long term solution, but it works for the here and now. And bush is a hypocrite with his F350 plowboy mobile. He belongs on the farm, living off the fat of the land instead of the taxpayers. As for hydrogen fuel. I can just see the first car out of good 'ol gang bang detroit being a 600HP hydro-camaro. They'll just treat it as a joke, like all their cars are. America will succeed in sucking the ocean dry in 30 days with hydro-nascar events. It's so ridiculous that ford and gm had to combine their miniscule brain power to come up with a 6 speed auto when the Germans did it years ago. Why is it so hard to adopt fuel efficient transmissions and engines from Europe and just shove it down the throats of Americans? Because all these past presidents were incompetent morons and have no power or pull. We think 0-60 is an everyday stoplight event. If that were the case I could blow away every damn body in this town for their lack of automobile awareness with my cars small but deceptive 2.7L 32mpg engine. But I TRY to drive conservatively and do my part. In fact I'd much rather have the lazier European transmission for my car instead of the bastrdized US version which revs higher and wastes gas. In most cities you can usually use the public transportation system. But even that is bigger and more wasteful than it needs to be in most cases. We have to do EVERYTHING jumbo sized here. So I don't see why the person in MA would be stuck. Unless they live out in the woods like my relatives in NH. And the solution to that is obviously 1 passenger vehicles. We don't need cars that seat 6 when there's usually 1 person who drives it. Covered motorcycles or hybrid designs like the CARVER are cool alternatives. The SMART FORTWO is coming soon to the US, but it might have a hard sell because people won't feel safe in it unless they outlaw SUVs. But I'm sure they'd feel safe doing 220 on a suzuki hayabusa with just a helmet. It seems too that the auto industry doesn't want to invest in making these vehicles until there is an infrastructure. Well I don't remember there being a shell and wesco food mart on every corner when ford and benz started making their cars. They're just slapping their jaws and saying a lot of nothing, hoping in the mean time they can get rid of their old junk to countries like China and reduce them to a pile of ash before they are forced into making clean vehicles. Or maybe they can't make them because they're not smart enough? I feel if any country had UFOs it sure as hell wouldn't be the USA. We can't even make a decent fuel efficient car. Last contention is commercial buildings. These places have gaps so big in their front doors you could fit jeremy clarksons ego through. It's an amazing feat of engineering to accomplish that much inefficiency in design, as to let all the heat out of your building in 30 seconds.
  21. I was reading some Harvard blogs, and they have/had an incessant problem with spam bots. I think what they did is use some code to block web browsers that have odd properties/configurations, like what spambots use. Scroll over the yahoo spider name in the ONLINE USERS list, then one of the legitimate users names who is online to see what I mean.
  22. I predict that he'll say something like "We're reducing the speed limit nationally to 55." And if he does, then it's me who told him to do that. And if he says anything other than that, he's even more of an idiot than the polls claim. He had a package of bills last year he tried to pass, which his secretary told me "He knows what he's doing, and has plans..." which were all unanamously rejected as being idiotic and not providing an immediate impact on fuel supplies. Seriously, this guy should be savaged by a hamster. What a failure for someone who went to Harvard AND Yale.
  23. I just thought it might be interesting to also try and make the message boxes a little transparent, if that can be done without sacrificing readability. And have some sort of ready room type image for the background that remains static, not moving when scrolling.
  24. Tiger eye looks better, but can't the marble looking background image remain static while scrolling, instead of scrolling with the forum posts? Would look cooler
  25. Not that I know what the pull of gravity would be, but it doesn't have to be from a distant star. It can use a slingshot effect. Get started by being pulled or pushed to a nearer magnetic force and or gravity well or whatever and continue on like climbing a ladder. You don't just rip your arm out of its socket to try and grab the top rung on the ladder, because it's not long enough. Maybe the majority of scientists don't know how to read that guys work or aren't smart enough. Just spend the damn money and make it happen.
