Exterus
I thought "low carb" meant "generally healthy" or something like that. And you were absolutely right :) Bacon & eggs is hardly a "healthy" breakfast. :)
Megalith
Lowcarb....eggs and bacon? Uh. How does that compute? A lowcarb breakfast is like yoghurt' date=' a piece of fruit and a wholemeal sandwich.[/quote'] Thats Low Calerie. Carbohyrates are things like sugars and flours. Protein is things like meat and fat. I thought "low carb" meant "generally healthy" or something like that. And you were absolutely right :) Low Carbohydrate is not necessarily good for you fat gives rise to Cholesterol which is one of the main causes of Heart Disease. The Atkins Diet is a low carb Diet but research has shown that it can increase the likelihood of Heart attack. A healthy diet is one which mixes all food types in reasonable amounts. I've been on the Atkins diet for 6 years now and both my cholesterol and my bloodpressure have improved immensely. In fact I've become much healthier than I ever was before. What you're talking about is not research at all, just prejudice and propaganda for economical reasons. There has actually been a lot of proper scientific research that proves that it's very healthy. Anyway, we're getting way off topic...
Guest dhorse
For a quick breakfast, 2 to 4 BoJangles biscuits (usually an even mix of chicken biscuits and sausage egg 'n' cheese biscuits). For a home cooked breakfast, some biscuits with jelly, eggs (scrambled in the same pan after the bacon, so they are all bacon-ey), sausage, pancakes, just a whole bunch of stuff. Neither of those options are very healthy though.

Claiming that any specific diet works for one individual does not mean that it works for everybody and can infact be harmful to some individuals. Still the best and recommended by real dietists (real = has a university degree) is a change of lifestyle adapted specificaly to the individual and a part of that is often a change of diet and adding some healthy regular exercise to the meny. ////////// On topic Today I'm having crispbread (swedish knäckebröd) with cheese, a cup of coffee and müsli with strawberries and sourmilk. Any breakfast is better that no breakfast at all. :) (my opinion, not to be confused with scientific facts)
GhostShadow
One word. OATMEAL. You can eat it, patch a hole in the wall with it, use it on your poison ivy rash, it can be added to jet fuel and makes an excellent antigravity well (but only at 0 Gs). c4 :cyclops: haha, I missed my exams for school today so i had to stay home and I got hungry and I opened a box of oatmeal and i ate it and it was delicious and then I realized that it was espacialy made for wemon... I felt soo dirty, I cant believe that they make oatmeal just for wemon.... (you would think they have to make that lable a littel bigger) but non the less it was really good. and the only reason I reached for oatmeal was b/c I was bored and hungry and I remeber that it was mentioned here and I havnt had it in forever, lol. remedyu
I have a nestum + oats mix drink in the morning :( Can't eat sausages, eggs, bacon, ham, etc on the count of my high cholesterol
Amnot Borg
I rarely eat breakfast. I tend to not be much of a morning person. I usually spread my meals out in a pattern of several snacks and 2 main meals. When I eat early in the day, I tend to eat things that take very little time to prepare: cereal, cookie, sandwich, etc.
Annika
I Can't eat sausages' date=' eggs, bacon, ham, etc on the count of my high cholesterol[/quote'] You could if you left out most of the carbs ;) Here's some interesting reading: http://www.ravnskov.nu/cholesterol.htm http://www.nutritionandeggs.co.uk/newsroom/newsroom5.html http://www.alive.com/325a1a2.php?subject_bread_cramb=

So the atkins diet is basically the same thing that has been recommended by dietists and physicians for the past couple of decades? Interesting. Annika
Well at least it should have been :D And would have been if they actually knew what they were talking about :p
Hilander72
Sharing an experiance does not count either, cause it still doesn't work for everybody. ;) They do recommend a "sort of Atkins diet" with low carbohydrates (selected carbohydrates), which has been around long before Atkins. That diet has in the past only been recommended for people with metabolic disorders and in special cases.
Megalith
No disrespect to you annika but the atkins diet or for that matter any fast weight loss diet can lead to problems read This or This to see what can be the consequences.
Annika
Please don't go there  I have this discussion almost on a daily basis so I can assure you I've heard it all before and proven it all wrong before. For every site you can show me I can show you another one that says the opposite believe me. Scientist, doctors, industry, vegetarians... they've been against the atkinsdiet for as long as it exists, nothing new there. Now for the first time after 35 years there's some real evidence based on decent research that it works and it's healthy and Dr. Atkins has been right all along and what do they do? They try to save their face and say the same things a little louder hoping nobody will notice how wrong they've been all these years. There's absolutely no scientific basis, no research whatsoever for those claims. There is however a lot of money and credibility to loose if they would admit to the truth. http://www.newstarget.com/001403.html http://www.newstarget.com/002390.html

Hilander72
Today I had Sushi for "breakfast" and it was delicious. (It was kind of a very late afternoon breakfast) My favourite is still Cornflakes with jam and sourmilk with coffee and toast.
Steveo
What I never understood, and can't bring myself to do, is to eat breakfast cereal later on during the day or at night. Anyone do this, because I'm sure you go to hell for it?
Carlvsi
I`m off to hell then. It`s 04.30 on a Sunday no less, and I have just eaten a bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes with Muesli with a cup of Twinnings Everyday Tea, followed by a cigarette. At least I`ll have somewhere to light my cig. B)
