  1. Like you aren't condescending? "...boy are you ever off on a tangent... "? Tony Soprano fills every criteria to be an anti-hero, so this isn't subject to opinion. He IS an anti-hero. If you really want to disagree with me, he can be an anti-hero that that you don't like. That is an opinion. But if it makes you feel better, go ahead and lock this thread.
  2. Tony Soprano is a main character in a dramatic work who lacks the traditional heroic qualities. Therefore, he is indeed an anti-hero.
  3. Maybe in 20-30 years, we'll all have padds (like in Star Trek) that are directly connected to the internet which have all the functions of our current mobile phones, personal computers, etc. That would be awesome.
  4. The Sopranos doesn't exactly glorify the "criminal life". It does however show the mafioso guys as real human beings and not just stereotypical villains. That is something that is pretty rare. We need more anti-heroes on TV. One of the more interesting aspects of the show is when Tony's shrink is discussing her patient with her own shrink or her family. She is constantly struggling with her dislike (and sometimes even disgust) with Tony and what he does. But she is also a firm believer in moral relativism (as am I) and believes that Tony's sociopathic tendencies can be remedied with her help. Her perspective and the various perspectives of the people (all good, law-abiding and utterly boring people, kind of like you and me) she confides in creates a kind of balance in the show. But I do admit that I find the whole mafioso concept really cool. It's not just that they're gun-toting badasses, it's the whole mafia code that interests me. And to be honest, I have a certain respect for it. Maybe not the realistic and diluted modern kind that too often gets ignored by its members, but rather the original concept. I can see the allure of it. An organization based on unflinching and unquestioned loyalty and respect. Plus, in The Sopranos, you have an interesting twist on the subject of the cosa nostra. We get to see how our modern society slowly erodes those ideals and traditions that the organization used to stand for.
  5. Actually, it's Alexander Siddig. I always thought he was a mediocre actor at best.
  6. Are you kidding me? You really think that? :stare: Eww.
  7. (All of them are PC) 1. Europa 1400 The Guild - Gold Edition 2. Hearts of Iron 2 3. Fallout 2 4. Oblivion 5. Civilization 4
  8. It's hot as fucking hell outside. I wore shorts today. Everything is sweaty, sticky and stuffy. I want winter back. :(
  9. So you are a petty thief. Okay, to each his/her own and all that, but how come you felt the need to post a topic about this here?
  10. I recently aquired all three seasons of SeaQuest. After watching part of it, I was struck by the sudden realization that this must be one (of not the) worst science fiction show ever created. Almost nothing about it is good...well, alright, there is Stacy Haiduk of course: Mmm, come to daddy. ...but other than that, it's just one clichéd, overly sentimental and/or boring episode after another. It's amazing how a show like this could go on for three seasons while shows like Odyssey 5 or John Doe gets cancelled faster than I can say "soulless capitalists". Besides SeaQuest, which science fiction shows were the worst?
  11. Very often. 8-9 times at least. But I have a feeling Ron Jeremy will last for a long while (that's why he's a big star in the business, after all).
  12. A Neverwinter Nights server would be nice. If I had to, I could probably scrounge up a good module to run on it.

    WHAT IF....

Better uniforms, less treknobabble and more intrigue.
  14. Nice. But I still like CroCop better: http://www.reprobate.se/filer/filmklipp/crocop_highlights2.mpg Totally awesome.
  15. Us Scandinavians are quite underrepresented. In K-1 there has been some success, but in UFC and Pride we have only a few names worth mentioning. With Pride we do have Joachim Hansen. He has some serious talent and his victory in Bushido 10 against Azeredo was impressive. Plus, he looks like a true nordic badass.

  17. I thought this place needed an MMA thread right about now. I love this stuff. Mainly Pride FC and UFC, but K-1 is good once in a while too. I just...aquired...the latest Pride DC (31, I think) and it was a great watch. I also...aquired..."Pride FC The World Best Fighters 5 Great Geniuses Vol 1 Emelianenko Fedor". To watch Fedor Emelianenko fight is like watching art. He has the talent, the skill and the intuition. Without a doubt the best pound-for-pound MMA fighter in the world. Another fighter that I enjoy watching is Mirko CroCop. His high kicks are the deadliest in the sport, his takedown-defense is second to none and he has the most nonchalant and cool attitude I've ever seen. He walks into the ring, no fanfare or any of that, beats his opponent down, turns around and walks right back out. So many fighters these days dye their hair, do little dances and acts up. It's lame, this is MMA, not wrestling (thank Joe Pesci). A fresh gust of air. So, what do you like? Let's hear it.
  18. I will not discuss any serious gay-related issue in this forum. But come on, Starbuck was a golden opportunity for inserting a lesbian into the show. I mean, all that's missing is the trucker cap and the picture is complete.
  19. I think they should have made her a dyke. That would have been awesome.
