Ulysses
Any one know how to possibly fix this problem, a freind of mine has a pre-owned copy of half life 2 which is geniuine but when he installs the game its comes up staying his steam account can not be accitivated as it is already in use. Is there actually a way around this so he can actually play half life 2 or counter strike as he really wants to play this on our server. Thanks
raven3x7
If he really bought the copy he should contact Valve tech support about it. I dont think there is any way around steam checks for online gaming

Chiggy
What this looks like to me is that some how your friends Steam account has been suspended (this is often done to cheaters) or someone has stolen his Steam account details and is probably using them. It seams very unlikely his details are corrupt on the Steam database. Is he one hundred percent sure he has not let anyone else borrow his account information? Valve makes a charge of 15 dollars for a Steam account to be reset............it may be more. Its just another attempt to screw its customer base. Sorry to hear about your friends situation. gamer1978
He should have never bought a pre owned online game this goes for half-life or any other game such as Unreal tournament. The best way to buy steam games is to download the steam client wich is free and then buy the games you want online it also works out cheaper.
