  1. I like the montage despite possible spoilers. Later in reruns it helps place the story line and plot.
  2. My sincere condolences for the loss. :(
  3. The electoral college does the actual voting for president. SUPPOSEDLY based on the voters desires of their area. Most of the US in 2004, was split around the 50/50 mark in the popular elections. They chose who they wanted since we couldn't. Still, came in very close to 50/50. We needed better choices. Still do.
  4. Cylons are machines/computers and everything has to be based on logic and common sense. ;) The skinjob models can (sometimes) breed with humans so they aren't exactly machines any more. :cyclops: They appear to be more biological androids than machines. Nothing in the series exactly explains what they are as everyone keeps referring to them as just "machines". The bodies are mass produced but they feel, bleed, eat, think a lot like people. SO, why not a priest that isn't religious? I found it humorous as well.
  5. As the items were coming from China, probably the shipment was already on the way when payment was stopped. Hard to fault the seller at that point. However, if they never bother her again over this sale, she can watch them all she wants to. B) Edit: oops, didn't see the part about the seller being in the US. Still, the shipment could already have been on the way when cancelled.
  6. Past history. In my experience, ordinarily .nfo files contain ascii text which doesn't harm your machine. .nfo files containing scripts are out of my personal knowledge base although I do know M$ uses them. I've never knowingly utilized the .nfo files of Microsoft. Training for MCP never showed a practical use for them. .bat, .sys were far more common and used more often for installation or maintenance purposes.
  7. I assumed it was meant as a show of support against corporate rampaging. My comment wasn't meant to belittle you or your opinion. Just to show support for his efforts for his family while he searches for legal answers. Edit: to stay on-topic, the blog looks about the same in both my browsers. firefox, ie6
  8. I browsed it in IE6 first. It looks about the same. It must be something in IE7 messing up.
  9. I'll light a green candle for his health. My father was in WW2 also. He was assigned to the Phillipines mostly. Smoking was a big thing back then and it eventually weakened his lungs where cancer could eat him up. He died when I was still young. When his time comes, at least you'll have memories and know how much you both cared for each other. Be sure to tell him while you have that chance. :(
  10. His first responsibility is to protect his family so if his best legal recourse is settle, then he probably will settle. That's why he needs an attorney. Here's your Firefox screenshot.
  11. You'd think so... and I'd almost forgotten they were still out there since they keep to themselves while the "children" play.
  12. sexy, athletic, familiar with scifi.... JESSICA ALBA, duh...
  13. They never stopped murder and robbery in the world of Star Trek on an individual basis as it did occur and usually when different species met, culturally, in the Federation it seemed to be a non-entity though. Perhaps, it was just easier to do without those things with no money and social changes making most crimes of passion simply impossible or unnecessary? Evolution seems to be the only logical method of things changing for humanity but prayer has been known to work.
  14. different motherboards need different drivers, different cpu types need different slots/sockets which means different data paths and software.... in other words, winxp could go absolutely batsh*t swapping parts like that without giving it a chance to load up new software to utilize it's new hardware.
  15. mores: The accepted traditional customs and usages of a particular social group. Moral attitudes. ethics: motivation based on ideas of right and wrong morally and ethically, you should contact the snotty seller and ask how to return the unpurchased item. legally, wait for a new bill and if it doesn't show, keep the item. (laws differ but I think if they don't contact you, you're ok.)
  16. I agree the topic seems to be about our lost community fearing the worst. A good thing happening to us is that we discuss more items like this. The Riverworld movie was based on a series of novels by Phillip Jose Farmer. They are classics. Brief description: EVERY person between the original humanoid on Earth with a soul to the late 20th or early 21st century human is reborn on Riverworld naked but near a source of food. That means neanderthals and modern man are now alive. They are then free to build or rebuild any civilization they had on Earth or create new ones with different people. The riverboats are one of the main low-technology vehicles the people of Riverworld can build with the resources available to them. Yes, if they die, then they are reborn elsewhere on Riverworld to live again. "To Your Scattered Bodies Go" is the first of the series. Here is a site with a description right off the book jacket. Information on the author is also located there. It's a little light on scifi but that's taken care of by great plots and character development. The understanding of the scifi in the story is beyond most of the characters. It's like "magic". The novels are stories of mystery about WHO did this and WHY, not about HOW. I loved them when I was college age.
  17. I found this site that explains things well enough for both of us I think. I wish you good luck in whatever you do.
  18. option 1 makes the most sense if you install the 40gb drive as a slave on the athlon machine since you won't be using the OS on it then. afterwards, you can wipe the 200gb drive and install it as a slave on the celeron machine using the 40gb drive as the OS drive or install it then wipe it. xp, after being installed on two different types of motherboards won't allow them to boot on the other machine anyway. You can use the 200gb as a separate partition or as several partitions or even mount it as a folder on the 40gb drive so you can still save programs and files to drive c: but it'll be like c:\new drive. If you don't want both drives then you can ghost the 40gb drive and then copy it to the 200gb drive and format the extra 160gb later. does that make sense?
  19. Well, seeing as it's a finale and a cliffhanger then we'll just have to wait until next season and see what happens, won't we? ;) My guess is that the Ancients quit being pacifists and kick Ori butt. Everyone then goes home and has a brewski amid much joy that life is good. :cyclops:
  20. I've never seen an .nfo file with a script in it. Most .nfo files have ascii art or info about the download or zip file it came with. I tried to find out if scripts embedded in an .nfo file would function but so far I can't find anything. Google hunts can be a real time consuming process sometimes. If it was the only other file besides the movie, then probably it can't harm you. Being anxiety prone myself, I'd slow down on the coffee and check to see what files are downloading and shred the unknown ones.
  21. Yes. Just as they should be expected to tolerate those of you who aggressively challenge their religious views. We should learn to respect our differences, not belittle and insult those we disagree with. How will the future improve if we cannot learn to rise above such pettiness. Infinite diversity in infinite combinations. The creator of that phrase had his own opinions related to this discussion. We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes. - Gene Roddenberry from here
  22. I was referring to "our" overkill suggestions being paranoid. He might have just gotten very lucky finding the information, unfortunately. ya know there is a rumor that if an email address was used to say, sign up for FREE gay porn, then it would get passed around to other distributors and webmasters very quickly. Just a rumor, I'd never do that to someone.:) but, if someone did, they should do it using a proxy to hide their personal IP address as it's really naughty and slightly illegal to pretend to be someone else.
  23. wowl, ah rekkin ah kin try to tahk lahk muh famlee fer a bit. ah'll try not to gaumme up the werks. Well, I reckon I can try to talk like my family for awhile. I'll try not to gum up the works. Mostly it's just a slow drawl version of modern English with some few old British dialects thrown in. Southern people tended not get a lot of education if they were poor. The older dialects hung around in families.
