I set my router to allow only trusted wireless connections so should help with any future problems. took me a while to work out how to do this. I think I fixed the problem well I think that it may have been a registry key or something to do with it because I ran. Spybot search and destroy Spyware doctor Registry mechanic Mcafee virusscan Tuneup Utillities registry cleaner All from within Windows xp safe mode and I havent had the problem so far I suppose I will have to wait and see. Thanks for the reply I did think that it was a wireless hack but I have a netgear wgt624 v2 router and I didnt think the range was that great. If it is a few hundred metres then it must be a neighbour. If he did plant something on my computer is there a program that someone woud recommend to remove it. I also have a copy of Spyware doctor I dont think that gets rid of trojams that I have already run. I have the latest version of mcafee virusscan I wil update that and run a scan it takes a while though. I dont leave it running all the time because I find it slows dows my favorite game day of defeat source.

Hi I need help with a hacker I dont no weather this person is getting into my computer via my wireless network or over the internet I first noticed him a few months ago while checking my wireless router settings and noticeing another computer atteched to it (John22) with ip 192.168.0.4 my router uses the address 192.168.0.1 and I have my comp on .3 and my sisters comp on .2 I got rid of him by turning on WPA and changing my passwords and turning on firewalls on both computers. Any way this week this person has begun to open my dvd rom drive wich is my primary optical drive and I do not no how he is doing it. I am aware of programs that can do this but I thought that you had to have permission to access the network. I have downloaded radmin port scanner and radmin ip scanner in the hope of finding how he is doing this but that didnt work. I cant seem to see him anymore but he can still send a command to open my drive. I no it is the same person because he did this while his computer was attached to my router. I an not verry good at networking so I need advice I have windows xp professional with all the latest drivers windows updates I really need to stop this it is annoying the hell out of me. Please dont tell me I have to re-install because I am building a new computer and do not want to re-install my current one right now. oh and guess what while typing this my keyboard letter A just broke hows that? Clicking AVI Files on explorer causing 100% CPU Usage Posted 8/12/2002 by TweakXP Member Well windows seem to have a REALLY big problem when it comes to reading AVI files. It seems that when you click on an AVI file in explorer, it'll try to read the entire AVI file to determine the width,height, etc. of the AVI file (this is displayed in the Properties window). Now the problem with Windows is that if you have a broken/not fully downloaded AVI file that doesnt contain this info, Windows will scan the entire AVI file trying to figure out all these properties which in the process will probably cause 100% CPU usage and heavy memory usage. To solve this problem all you have to do is the following: 1. Open up regedit 2. Goto HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler 3. Delete the "Default" value which should be "{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}" Voila! Please not that this will no longer provide you with the windows properties displaying the AVI file information such as width, height, bitrate etc. But its a small price to pay for saving you resources. NOTE: Please use caution when using regedit. Improper usage may cause windows to behave imcorrectly. Also, I cannot be held resposible. Backup your registry first.

I think I just answered my own question why do some psu have an sli logo it seems you need a psu with 2 x PCI Express Connectors if you want to use two compatable sli cards.

Thankyou all for the responce I am thinking of only getting the one sli videocard first and then later on getting another the prices for pci express video cards is dropping all the time so I though it would be a good way of increasing performance and would be cool to have 2 gpu's TetsuoShima do you no if ultra is a good brand as you can tell I dont no much about power supplys. Hi I am seriosly considering upgrading my pc and am thinking of getting a intel socket 775 motherboard with an sli videocard and I am not sure about power requirments I might get a intel 2.8 ghz dual core cpu the new case I will get is a coolermaster cm stacker and does not come with a power supply. recently while browsing the net I saw some of the power supply's had an SLI logo posted and saying something like SLI compatable. My question is Do I need a specific power supply that is compatable with SLI or can I use any one. if I can use any one then I was thinking of an EZCool 500 watt because I found it for relatively cheap. Thankyou for any advice. My current system is a p4 1.6 intel asus p4s333 geforce 3 ti200 Abit ram 512 kingmax 2 x 120 gig seagate So you can see I really need an upgrade?

I dont no if this is what you want but I would like a keyboard that has keys made out of something other then plastic perhaps alaminium or stainless steel but that would cost heeps. And I had this idea for a graphics pen made out of a mouse lazer that way they would be cheaper than the graphics tablets that are currently available.

I dont no if this will help because you say this is only happening with one game but anyway couldnt hurt. Last year I was having a problem where my compter would just freeze it didnt restart by itself though all I did to fix the problem was reseat my videocard (take out put back in) and have not had problems since. I would do this with ram as well.

My personal favorite BSplayer excellent features and very reliable. I also recently come accross this version of mplayer with a user interface and have been using it to play realplayer rmvb files and is alot better then realplayer 10 the contrast and brightness can be increased far better then realplayer 10 the only thing is it took me a while to learn the keyboard controls. Did you try updating your video card drivers and reinstalling directX (install the newest version) and is everybody absolutely shore the videocard is overheating could it not just be the ram it can cause the same problem and is more likely to fail. From my experiance anyway. You should also check your agp driver if you are using an agp slot the driver usually ccomes on you motherboard utility disc. and also you could check your bios/cmos settings.

I would just like to say that I currently have an Pioneer DVD writer but before that I had an LG cd writer and the reason I did not get another LG drive is because it is really hard to get firmware for that brand and I have noticed that you really need to update your firmware at least once a year so that your drive is able to recognize the latest disk media so if your drive is not writing at the speed the disk is capable of (disk media only appears at 5x instead of 16x ) you may consider firmware update.

Are you talking about the divx player installed on your computer if you are updating divx will not help you you need a xvid codec. Xvid and divX are totally unrelated you can get an xvid codec from. http://www.free-codecs.com/ I would tell you which one to get but dont remember which one I use have had it installed for over 1 year. good luck.

Hi I had nero 7 premium recently and removed it from my pc because it seemed to slow it down and it made me a few dvd coasters for my trouble. Anyway I am wondering if you are experiancing any trouble with this software sorry but I dont remember there being a program like vision express maybe its in the main home program loader thing cant remember the name the big red page with large icons.

To Jackson3 where did you see 9 chevrons the stargate is supposed to only use 8 chevrons 7 used for addresses within this galexy and 8 when dialing another galexy. Then again maybe they do have 9 allowing them to dial another dimension that could be cool. Personally I did not really like this episode that type of story has been done enough allready I still remember the startrek voyager episode that was similar and that was years ago.

I just found this site while browsing the net thought someone might be interested. This site shows a map for Jedi knight: Jedi Academy with an atlantis theme. It looks prett cool wish I had the game so I could try it (wish I could convert it to Half-Life).
