ENTERPRISE DEMISE

 I just watch one of the last episodes of Enterprise : In a Mirror Parts 1 & 2. First of all this was a wonderful way to do a Mirror universe episode(s). The different beginngs get your attantion right now. Second, considering the other renditions or offshoots from Classic that has been done, this one is great. The ending is a little poor and rushed but up to that point I was so rivoted I was up till 1am trying to watch the second episode because I couldn't go to bed until I knew how it ended. I have yet to see the last 4 beyond this one but I have to say it. Whet the Hell was Paramount thinking!? This series was just getting into its own and they jumped it to the "Death Slot" and then they kill it with out any consideration at all. The brings to mind the WB and the Twilight Zone Remakes with Forest Whitiker(?). These were very well done and they kill it after 1 season run for that great program Jake 2.0 which didn't even make it through 1 season, wow there are some real genius at that program director's job.

I don't know what everyone was complaining about in season 3 of Enterprise. A season long arc was a great idea, and yes there was a few klinkers but over all they stayed on track. I have to commend them on that. They dragged out Voyager for 7 years with horrible rateings and on a network no one could watch, why kill Enterprise in its prime? I don't get it!!!!!

Deflated Trek Fan,

I agree. I wasn't much of an Enterprise fan at first cause UPN9 (in NY area) kept moving/pre-empting the show. But after watching those two 'Mirror" EPs...WOW! As for the season long story arc...I'm currently trying to download them all.

However...your comment on Voyager....that they "dragged it out"...

Humph!!! May Neelix lay a Telaxian "jelly roll" in your PJs!!! :p

hey i dont know what everyone is so surprised about

do you need this example to realize the universal law that sais that corporation dont know what the hel they are doing

for years now the corporation have been fighting p2p although thier sales havent dropped a sigle peeny since the p2p era begun

and they know that oftem someone downloads a song then buys the cd or buys the cd and downloads the song

and they also know that p2p spreads like fire creating a publicity none like they could offer for thier products

and it could have been very clear that a liget p2p network could have been made years ago if the corporates had been more flexible about the prces and terms

but no they had to wait for years of rejecting p2p then they agreed to the terms which were intially offered

my point is corportaes make nothing the create nothing they only seel stuff

do you think if star trek had been originally made in a corporate enviroment like the one which we see today it would have ever been what it had become

but hey lets not be cruel here when a man runs a mega corpration he has to much more than a man to avoid falling into the trap of loving to hear his own voice and beleiving hes the new prophet who speaks only the truth

its been a long lived tradition for the tv networks to give the fans a slap on the face every now and then to remind them whos in control

but i personally think the the solution is the same solution that solved the music industry problem

no i dont menas p2p

i mean when fans take the matter into thier own hands

soon we will be able to create movies that look exactly like real life and not long after that it would be affordable to make these movies

then and only then would the fans be able to actually make some really good star trek movies

no more sets or actors or any of that

we would only need a bunch of killer pcs and some really creative writers and some really creative 3d animation artisits

yeah i know it wont be the same as real actors but you see what it would do it would libirate the tv production just like p2p libarated music

after that the networks wont be so arrogent and when the fans collect a couple of million dollars to keep a show on the air they wont say no thatk you but we know what we are doing

Wow, that was a little deep...

Enterprise is awesome, I've been giving it a rest. I have alot of other stuff to catch up to. Anyone who hasn't gotten into Enterprise till the 4th season and likes the arcs, watch all of season 3 in as big chunks as possible. That whole season was rough because you just had to see next weeks developments. And the Xindi are different than Klingons.

While I loved the show, I think it did have some flaws. One, it used new actors right out of acting school. Second, they didn't develop the ensamble cast like they did in TNG and DS9.

Now that Enterprise is off the air, I've been getting my Sci-Fi fix with Battlestar Galactica. I'll tell you a few things I like better about BSG than Enterprise:

1) The show doesn't rely on special effects. They use projectile weapons instead of lasers. The sets are rustic, metalic, rough. No fancy displays everywhere, no fancy com system. Even so, when they need special effects, like space battles, they look fantastic.

2) There is an ongoing storyline: To survive (avoid Cylons) and to Find Earth. While each episode may have a different storyline, there are elements that continue through, like Sharron being a Cylon. It's the on-going story that really keeps the viewer interesting in seeing the next episode

3) BSG has a large cast, and MOST (not all) are very well acted. The characters have depth, personality, and history. Not all of the characters are friends, and there is some real contention that makes for good drama.

4) BSG episodes are well written and focus on characters and plots, not just about blowing up stuff or showing boobs (no cat suits here). They have gone back to what really makes Sci-Fi.

So, Enterprise was a good show, but it could have been a LOT better. It's too bad because I really like the idea of a prequel.

UPN9 (in NY area) kept moving/pre-empting the show

funny. i am in the west virginia area (however upn is broadcast from ohio) and it seems that Enterprise was always being shuffled. On 15 occassions (perhaps more), when it was time for Enterprise, UPN would have all sorts of technical difficulities. Many times nothing would air but blackness, many time near the end of the episode the show would cut off into nothing. This was, i believe, a widespread problem. I know some of my friends that I hadn't talked to in years called me wondering if I was have the same troubles. I mean, like clockwork, nothing ever transpired like this on UPN in our area, it only happened to Enterprise. i was so feed up, i quit watching. hell, from the very get go the first episode's ending cut off for over 15 minutes.

wierd stuff, seems the folks at UPN took pleasure in giving ENterprise the shaft.

wonder if this happened in other areas?

I liked Enterprise. In my opinion, it shouldn't have been canceled.

There were some flaws though. Per instance, the ship and crew were obviously too advanced for their time. B&B sort of transplanted TNG/VOY to the 22nd century.

Indeed, the more I watch BSG, the more I think that Enterprise should have been something like it, both in terms of technology and human element.

lmao well i was watching it when the first season was getting aired about the same time as season 4 of enterprise and straight away i much prefered BSG over it.

I dont think some people on here liked the fact that i was openly critical about it but i thought the story was streets ahead of enterprise in many ways...shame as i would of liked to of seen enterprise pick up but the fourth season didnt do it any favours when going against BSG's first season.

The most intresting was the third season as it was more like what BSG is now

B)

Enterprise was a great show!

Its a shame the big boys cancelled it.

It was just starting to get going.

I really liked all the tie-ins ( Transporters that they were frightened off using, Phase pistols, )

Also who can forget the episode where Malcolm say's " What is a Photon Torpedo"

Great stuff.

honestly enterprise was a good watch, They had some good missions, when the dvd's come out and we watch them again :P you'll remember some of the awsome episodes they had, That said season 4 was absolutly awsome. But I don't think you can beat up the show for having a slow start, it takes a few seasons for te cast to get comfortable enough. TNG Ds9 Voyager all got off to a slow start

thats true but TNG, DS9 and Voyager all took off by there 4th season Enterprise had not.

Secondly, i would hardly call season 4 brilliant far from it, proabably had 2 or 3 great episiodes.....at best i would say it was average at best, nothing really lit up the series.
