Furious
1: She carries ILLEGAL SUBSPACE WEAPONS AND USED THEM 2: She had LIZARD SEX with paris. 3: Says stupid likes "Out think the think tank" 4: Fell in love with a holodeck character 5: Had SEX WITH A HOLODECK CHARACTER This has nothing to do with the character but i find Mulgrew to be to masculine and ugly. It is sad when Janeway fans say that we the janeway haters hate women. That is incredibly bad. Lizard paris was pretty sexy, in a lizard sort of way. 3: Says stupid likes "Out think the think tank" I pleed No Contest to that one. 4: Fell in love with a holodeck character Well she can;t exactelly go around and date crew members. 5: Had SEX WITH A HOLODECK CHARACTER Oh come on buddy, tell me that YOU wouldn't do the exact same thing if you had a holodeck. TFMF
She was in the Delta quadrent anyway - so if she were to use Illegal subspace weapons or anything like that then it would just be to try and protect and get her crew home.
Furious
When was that? Firt episodeshe used Tri-Colbot devices. Illegal since the Khitomer Accords. Well she can;t exactelly go around and date crew members. Yeah but a holodeck character. Pretty sad since it is like falling in love with a fictionl book character. Oh come on buddy, tell me that YOU wouldn't do the exact same thing if you had a holodeck. There is diffrence between running it has an enjoyment and has part of a romantic realtionship. I just remembered another thing. 6:In the episode where she found the Borg Children she left a Borg Cube. OMG How dumb is she? Cube would be a dream to the Federation. The find of a century. All she had to do was park voyager inside the ship pump up the transwarp and get home in months 7: She built the Delta Flyer when she already had a good shuttle. Also Kate was not casted as the captain to be a pin up she was the captain, quite why some people judge actors/actresses just by the personal looks, abit pathetic if you ask me. As I remember that particular EP you mentioned...that Borg cube was totally fu*ked and the transwarp coil was shot so Voyager couldn't use it to get home. 2. mask01
Janeway give just a part of the series. She work very well with all the caracters and don't forget that you don't have to love all of them, but the team they are.
Tenebrae
I never rated Voyager, I mean basically the show had NEGATIVE continuity. I think Berman and Bragnan were seeing if they could manage 7 years for basically enraging fans - and let's face it, a lot of star trek fans pretty much spit blood at the mention of the name. For me, Voyager was like TNG but without any of the charm, characters, originality and basically lots of pointless treknobabble. If it wasn't for Jeri Ryan, the chances are it would have pulled an Enterprise. My opinion of Janeway is that she got promoted to Admiral to get her the hell out of a command, so they could sit her behind a desk and she'd never hurt anyone ever again. How many oppurtunities did she turn up to go home - and don't say "it's the script", yes it's the script THAT DEFINES THE CHARACTER. You might as well say that the Borg are only evil because the script requires them to be so but you know, off-screen they were doing plenty of charity work. doctorsmith
1. As I remember that particular EP you mentioned...that Borg cube was totally fu*ked and the transwarp coil was shot so Voyager couldn't use it to get home. Regardless of the level of damage there must have been something worth nabbing - especially if children, regardless of their Borg nature, were able to hold Voyager at bay for so long. Since Borg tech is regenerative they could have merely stolen all of the components to the trans warp device (it must be small enough since Voyager had tried to steal one before) and they always have Seven as an expert on Borg tech. Surely they could have jury-rigged something! This is one of the many instances where the Voyager series pushed past the limits of Suspension of Disbelief, and the show became practically unwatchable (for at least enough fans that we are still arguing the merits of Voyager today). This is akin to the episode after the initial fight with Speces 8472 (The Gift, if I remember correctly), Torres is fretting over removing the Borg upgrades to Voyager. Not only were those upgrades supposed to allow Voyager to survive an encounter with a species that kicked the Borg where it hurts (variable, depending on the Borged species), but Torres was upset because the components kept REPAIRING THEMSELVES. The greatest advantage of the Borg, the cube’s systems regenerate and the ship just keep coming, was considered "crap" by Voyager's chief engineer. This is also akin to how Voyager would go toe-to-toe with a Borg cube or with Species 8472 (at least sustaining multiple hits from these badass aliens) and in other episodes they can't handle a couple Kazon raiders or even tiny Vaadwaur ships which had tech that was 500 years old (ep. Dragon's Teeth). While these can surely be called "script issues" I completely agree with the statement: don't say "it's the script"' date=' yes it's the script THAT DEFINES THE CHARACTER. [/quote'] The reason why people dislike Janeway seems to be a matter of inability or disinterest in separating Janeway's actions (the scripts) from her character. Some might say it is pointless to talk about a character if the script cannot be mentioned in any way. It is true that many of Voyager's scripts were BADLY flawed (some might say mortally), and it is also true that as the captain, whose decisions brought them to many of the situations they faced, Janeway would then burden much of the weight of viewer's perceptions. But the notion that the actress became enslaved to the script is somewhat laughable. It mocks any notion of Kate Mulgrew as either a veteran actress or even an effective one. Surely she could have made suggestions, even arguing to change lines if she felt it what was written was out of character. For that matter Janeway's credited creator Jeri Taylor (she literally wrote the book on Janeway), as producer and co-creator of the series, could have pressed her case if she felt Janeway was being compromised. That said, I don’t think you can argue that the Janeway we saw in those eps was anything but the way she was intended to be acted. Now this surely doesn't mean that fans cannot find enough good things about Janeway to like her, this is merely meant to illustrate a likely reason so many think she was a terrible captain. I think it was worth breaking my word to say! Anyway, I hope that helps.
Tenebrae
I thought that it was pretty clear from the start that the way Janeway's character progressed was pretty much a headstrong, pulpit preaching, prime directive violating, she-bitch that pretty much did everything. So, it's not a case of her being compromised but rather flawed to begin with. As to the Borg issue - yes, all seemed rather foolish to me really. You want to get rid of BETTER TECH... actually, surprising they even bothered with that. They'd usually just have hit the reset button.

GhostShadow
I know janeway isn't much of a starting captian but later in teh seiries she gets her high points. That was bad about the sexist thing that deathdlr1488 said. Janeway was thrown in to the delta quad. with no premtive clues, her first major desision was wether or not to save her ship but cause the death of an entire civilisation, or make her way home the long way but save that civiliation. So under the conditions she was in i think she handeled her self well. through out the series the made hard desisions and i would have to respect her character for that. You are entitled to your opinion of course but name calling (even a tv character) is really uncalled for. All you do is show the other members the level (or lack thereof) of your intelligence. Please, in the future keep the posting rules in mind before you let fly with the uncalled for insults. c4 :(
