Selected for unmodified natural talents. These would be that guy's 'overclass'. 3) The Lesser Cyborgs - into replacing of parts as they wear out. 4) The Greater Cyborgs - into replacing of parts with better parts, including cybernetic brain enhancement. 5) The Grunts - menial laborers that can't afford any augmentation, and don't have the resources or natural talents to be members of the Old Guard. These would be that guy's 'underclass'. 6) The Ghosts - those that make a simulation of their brain in computers, and live on through that. Possibly reproducing by 'mixing patterns' into a new, different child. 7) The Slaves - either a strain of humans engineered into a relatively mindless menial class, or possibly monkeys stripped of violent tendancies and enhanced to be VERY strong and obedient. (actually, these guys would be redundant, as robots may be more useful in this regard) 8) The Mixers - 2 or more of any of the above. 9) The AIs - Not exactly a type of human, but corresponds to sentient machines that have all the rights and capabilities of normal humans. 10) The Conscripts - Probably Grunts that accept genetic or cybernetic enhancement in exchange for a term of service to a corporation, the government, or a rich family. ... and probably others. There will always be a wide variety of types of human. If old diversity runs out, new diversity will take it's place, and that guy totally ignores cybernetic / genetic enhancement and it's possible effects on future humans. Its not unfeasable, and its also something thats been going on for centuries anyway. Take a look in the street sometime, you will occasionally see a small family groups of very short fat people with very dimwitted appearence and entirely unflattering facial features. The only reason people do not instantly think about how it is an obvious sign of breeding of progressive generations of rather unfortunate people is because its generally not considered socially acceptable to think like that. I'd say the Nazis have a fair bit to do with that being the case. Either that or its a specific heireditary condition. I find the article a bit dubious in that it does not consider the very real possibility of the complete collapse of advanced human society and also it was based on research conducted for 'Bravo' channel, suggesting a slant towards results suggesting that humanity will evolve into pert little hotties. To be honest, I'd have thought that given the fact 1000 years is a mere tick of the tock for a species like humanity in terms of evolution that most of the changes would be almost exclusively down to cosmetic surgery/ genetic engineering and such. bones2097 Posted October 19, 2006 Author Share Posted October 19, 2006 noop not realy as we can see diet effect alot how a person grows.... in the west people of all races are generally taller than what they should be if they were living in their native country.... i should know i'm 5'11... but the average would be 5'5 in my country my age.... lol.... this is the thing.... poor countries ppls bodies have adatped to poor food, & make the best of it... & difference in physical aspect is shortening... whilest in the west our bodies are getting lazier & fater... yes me too!!!! so in the long run when WWIII happens- and it prob will in the next 50 years... use westeners won't stand a chance in the aftermath whilst poorer countries will benifit in these conditions & will lead the human race!!!!!! yes evolution didn't account for nukes!!!! Firstly we're talking 100,000 years..that's a loooong time considering that we only have about 8000 years of recorded history. By that time any number of thing will have happened, if we haven't flushed our selves mentally and physically down the toilet and we haven't obliterated each other with Violence or Bioweps, then we will most certainly have tinkered withour own DNA enough to make and changes from evolution utterly irrelevent.. and IF none of the above have happened then there is a very good chance the human race will be fragmented and living on different world and smaller groups will hinder evolution.. so no that article (imo) is complete rot, because any damage like that will have occurred long before then at our own hand. Amnot Borg Posted January 8, 2007 Share Posted January 8, 2007 Cumulative mutation occurs in small groups over a long period of time, perhaps, in a larger group, say 6 Billion, mutation occurs more often but isn't noticed because the usual effects are either extremely harmful or almost un-noticeable. in other words, the child doesn't seem any different from its parents or it dies/can't have offspring. in this theory, some couples inability to have children might be the divergence in their genetic pools instead of bad reproductive capacity. they may look the same or even a slight physical difference and yet they aren't quite the same branch of humanity any more as their ancestors or neighbors. suddenly, the series Prey comes to mind.... so does X-men... who is human? who is defended under the law? will war become the rule as each tries to survive? human nature says... probably... ...or is war part of my paranoia? would we see the differences and actually blend the species peacefully by adding the successful changes to the other groups through genetic surgery? or would our desire to "tinker" create the differences between these new types of people? actually speed up the creation of more than one species of human? lots of novels are being written wondering what we might do... eugenicists have been wondering for a long time too... do we have the right to change our species? improve it? free will says yes/no/maybe/sometimes... ...the change could be very small and have no more effect than purple eye color or light green hair. what subtle chemical would be needed for that? anime makeover, anybody? just take this little shot at your local clinic.
