when i decided to start watching the 7 seasons of DS9 i asked on the forum how people felt about the series because i remember see'ing a few episodes and never being really attracted to the idea. as far as i remember EVERYONE who replied to my question were in favour of DS9 being the best trek series yet. currently im about half way through season 7 and i must admit from the start of season 6 i have found myself pressing "skip" on a whole bunch of episodes because of their general lack of relevance and just the fact that i really dont enjoy "holosuite" episodes. you can definately see that from season 6 on they have just run out of things to happen, the Dominion war seams to take a back seat and non important things like baseball games, genetically enhanced human operations and many many episodes held in some bar take priority. what i want to know then is from all the people who still think DS9 is the better series, why is that? what am i missing?

Last night I decided to book 6 seats so I invited 5 friends, we went for sushi first then got up to the cinema and sat in our seats... Now I have been waiting for this film for some time. I have made a point NOT to read any reviews and even walked away when people were talking about the reviews. I didn't want to walk into the film with any preconceptions - I was wrong to do so. I don’t think I have ever been so disappointed in my entire life. The film was a complete waste of the R45.00 (South African money) it cost me to see this film. The trailers were pretty good. Cars looks like its going to be quite a funny one ... but Superman! The hype that has been round it in .za has been massive ... WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?! Things I liked about the movie: 1) Brandon Routh was a pretty good superman. No one will ever replace Christopher Reeves but I think Routh did a pretty dammed good job 2) Voice overs - kept very well with the original films, I was pleased with this 3) The Lex Louther plot - also the whole real estate saga. This kept true to the story line 4) The air plane scene - very good CGI etc, it was an all round good scene That’s it. I can’t think of anything else I really enjoyed ... oh my slush puppy was good. Things I didn’t enjoy: 1) 2h45min - if they dropped the 45 minutes of CRAP in the beginning of the film it wouldn’t have been an extra 45 mins longer ... were they attempting to compete with King Kong there to see who could have the most boring 45 min unnecessary intro to a film? 2) Lex - Kevin Spacy is one of my fav actors, I can’t think of a film I didn’t enjoy him in ... till now. He was WRONG. Lex was MUCH more comedic than that, did the 5 years in jail harden him that much? 3) Love triangle - so what is this film teaching us? Louis made whoopie with Superman, he buggered off, she found some new rich guy and told him the kid was his. Super comes back and Louis goes all whoopie for him again and confesses the kid is supermans. Now this whole time Superman is x-raying her house being pretty voyeuristic and actually chasing after a woman who is pretty much "married in communion" so kids, its okay to get a girl pregnant, bugger off for 5 years, pitch back up and steal her away from her new lover - oh and don’t forget to mention to the new guy that the kids isn't actually his! 4) Krypton island - so ... quite the villain ... next time let’s get him to attack a river. 5) His cape - I know it’s petty but I really didn’t like the cape, it was straight out of SPAWN. Well that’s all I can think of right now. Im really not happy with the film but I guess that’s just the way life goes. I don’t think ill buy this DVD when it’s out. It really doesn’t deserve a place next to all my other superman DVD's. :(

anyone got any info as to when the new seasons of SGS1 and SG:A are gonna start this year? the websites for them are useless.

The asguards have also had quite a lot of time to move forward since the ancients left / ascended. The problem is that the asguard are still catching up after the replicator wars and their genetics problems. i wonder if the furlings will get involved, or the nox.

i really enjoyed the series right up till season 4, i thought Archer got too ... "hard". i definately would have continued watching if they had have kept on going. The reason i enjoyed it so much was because of the sub plots, i found it to go a lot more in depth with character relationships than any of the other series have. Archer vs T'Pol and the Trip vs T'pol saga for one. Phlox was also a briliant character! The ending was one of the worst i have ever seen. It was just cut off and the final two episodes were terrible.

iv only just started on my DS9 season 4, just at the start of the dominion wars, but i think that voyager had it worst, just cause they had no backup! DS9 has the whole of the federation on its side! sometimes its just nice to know you have some friends by your side, VOY wern't that lucky.

yesterday got : star trek - wrath of kahn (directors cut) american beauty mean girls zoolander 40 days and 40 nights they had a specail on at the local dvd shop

its hardly a laptop, more of a ... erm ... i dont know what it is? but whats the point of it. immagine the power needed for 20" LCD and a 8 speaker system with a sub! your normal battery would last off of 10 minutes so youd need like 8 batteries. so it wouldnt be a laptop ...

iv never been a fan of *nix as a desktop system, in the old days when it was "the in thing" i used to use slackware with blackbox, after deciding gnome and KDE were even more bloatware than windows 95 / 98 at the time. right now all my desktops (7 of them) and 2 laptops are windows, but the servers are 2 x FBSD and one Debian. in _my_ opinion windows can NEVER do what *nix can do in the server room like it does, but in the same way, *nix can never do what windows can do as a desktop.

someone find Tenebrae and shove a sock in his mouth please, most people are "fanboys" as you so crudely put it and we really enjoy the show and yes if it went on for another 10 years i would be there watching it, you dont have to be so dont.

dunno if this has been done before, but does anyone know how the stardates work? and has anyone ever checked on them to make sure they use the right star dates in episodes :P
