  1. wait til Star Trek XXX comes out... I bet it's gonna be a change from the usual movies :D
  2. Soval: directX10 cards are hot right now (read Geforce 8800s) as for me I need to get a new chipset cooler :P I have to stick in my finger and start up the fan manually... it got one of those small and really agressive fans that spin at 5k rpm...
  3. Ring transporter i'm so good :D
  4. I must admit that I haven't watched many of the new ones, only 2 of them has been aired here in Denmark on a new TV channel that started in the beginning of january. I like the way that it's been modified compared to the old version... I still have to convince my mom that it's NOT a continuation of the old BSG, it hasn't succeeded yet
  5. I know that I have written my info on there a loong time ago... I have been inactive here for a looong time, and of course a lot had happened since :D Name: Daniel Jürgensen (most commonly called Foxx online and by some friends) age:19 Live: Aarhus, Denmark Hobbies: Cooking (still keeping away from cooking disgusting Jamie Oliver food) playing computer games (my hands seem to start shaking as soon as I stop playing star trek: legacy) and attending furmeets. I'm still a student, and I still repair computers. The little business has grown a bit to include the company my dad works at, though,I help them install various power-saving utilities, as well as fixing any broken computer and doing maintenance on them. fav. tv shows: Stargate SG-1, all star trek except enterprise, battlestar galactica (both the old one and the new one) and Doctor who about the furmeets: Yes, i'm a furry, and no, none of those TV documentaries (MTV and BBC) are entirely true, trust me... pic of me:
  6. religion is what happens when God has left the building extremists are found in all cultures... I just hope, that i'm off this planet once the nukes start flying around
  7. the first Halo game can still be found in budget bins and on the net (for the PC at least) Halo 2 is supposed to be released together with windows vista, as it wil have different improvements over the xbox version. Halo 2 for PC is going to have support for Directx 10.
  8. in the close-by kiosk/kebab/pizza/video rental a movie normally costs 25-45 Dkr. (about £2.50-4.50) but ever tuesday and wednesday, any movie (including new releases) can be rent for 10 Dkr (£1).
  9. Computer no.1: Radeon X800GTO Computer no.2: Radeon 9600SE Computer no.3: onboard SiS Laptop: Onboard SiS the next ones are not used at the moment. Computer no.6: Geforce 4 MX420 Computer no.7: Geforce 2 of some sort Computer no.8(Oldie): S3 virge no. 9 every single one runs minesweeper without lag (LOL)
  10. Star trek II, III and IV, on offer: 3 for 20$ at the local supermarket :D
  11. fro startes: If the NSA is jamming the radio waves from them, it is a sign that they alreadu know that there is life in space. but come on, nobody's so stupid to believe that we're the oly forms of life in the entire universe, the chance of that is 1 in "every planet in the universe able to support life" (which must be more than just a few.) 1.) Jamming requres more than one geostationary sat to be effective, if it has to jam alien radio in more than the US (i.e the whole world) it would take at least 3 or 4 sats to jam all alien radio that is coming towards Earth. 2.) SETI is a worldwide project, it still requires radio telescopes to remain usable. Nearly all radio telescopes in the world scan the skies 24/7 at different frquencies. The SETI program client is a form of "extra computer" that does not only search for ET, but also aids the radio telescopes in decoding the massive amount of information that they recieve. 3.) If there is jamming, then you'll at least need some high-grade radio equipment (recievers, amps etc.) as well as one or more computers to decode the incoming data. Any normal sat dish would do it for localized jamming, but if there is a form of worldwide jamming going on, well... you might need a dish that is the size of the Aricebo radio telescope or more. For the computer part (still for decoding info and handling the radio equipment). Any normal computer today would be able to do it, albeit very slowly. The Internet has myriads of guides on how to assemble a small Beowulf-cluster supercomputer. This is still fairly expensive though, but cheaper than buying a blue gene/L computer. Any small networked computers can do it fast enough with the right OS installed that can share the calculating power between them. The SETI clients are based on this, and connects together in a network, sharing all calculations, this can be considered a beowulf cluster. If you don't know where to look, then go search for it. 4.) Books: one reason, money. But let one buy the book, have him make it into a pdf file... voila: free book.
  12. I'm with ghost Shadow on the part with the Jem'hadar, mainly because of their Samurai-like mentality. the funny thing actually is that you can link some races in Star Trek to a historical nation in the world. for example: The Romulans, with their mentality and government looks a lot like the old Roman empire. The Klingons, however, with their warrior code and all, looks a lot like the Mongols under command of Dsinghis Khan. In my opinion (as so many elses) the Q continuum is the most dangerous, mainly because of their powers. I could only say that the federation were smart not to consider the Q as hostile beings. They could easily erase a complete timeline in the blink of an eye. here's a very good suggestion: do NOT make an enemy of the Q... If we do not look at supernatural beings, I would say that species 8472 is extremely dangerous (though they made peace with UFP), especially when the Borg has problems with them. Also their biological knowledge (all their tech is based on living tissue) make them great at destroying all of a planet's ecosystem, regardless which race lives there.
  13. not at games, but more at windows in general
  14. oh yeah. but that's still fiction. The pegasus project raises a couple of questions. 1: how can you get matter to pass through matter? One answer is to port the vessen into another dimension. 2: The pegasus failed initially, as it materialized halfway inside an asteroid, power consumption? main question, as it worked fine on the larger Enterprise-D, with a larger powerplant. 3: how can you pass through matter, while still seeing our normal 4D space then? Phase-cloaking seems to be quite impossible, especially in the way mentioned in Star Trek
  15. as arktis says: Hydrogen. About 75% of Earth is covered with water, including that in the ice caps, every water molecule has 2 hydrogen atoms, compared to one oxygen atom. Even the 21% of the athmosphere that is oxygen, is still not enough. Also it would be a baaaaaad idea to suck oxygen out of the atmosphere. I agree to that point of mining the moon, although if it's done slowly, it would give the moon orbit a chance of adjusting. (even though it moves 3cm away from us every year). If the mining operation goes too fast (which it definitely will because of all the greedy governments and companes here) Then an accident could lead to the sheer destruction of the moon. Also over-mining it, can be catastrophic, in this case the moon has nearly nothing to holdt it together, and it wil simply fall apart and spread out. Also. We are adapted to the moon's presence. All the way through our evolution there has been a moon. What would happan if it was gone?
  16. I just thought of something... what about geothermal energy, They have it in Iceland and various other places. Drill a hole deep enough and voila. (motoxjesse) are you sure that the government didn't arrest him? A lot of conspiracies are roaming around on the internet that inventors of free energy sources were either forced into silence or jailed by the government. Also I watched a piece of an episode of the Disney cartoon "Recess" a few days ago, one of the characters named Gretchen (a real smart girl in the class) had invented a machine that could generate more energy that it consumed. She showed it to the class as a school project, after a while two government guys walk into the class and take her invention. If people want money more than fresh air and a clean world, then I would say that they have an IQ at the level of a hole in the ground. This planet is the only one we have, therefore we must take care of it, at least until we find another place to live.
  17. Well I tried it too back when I lived in Australia for a short time. I took a little pise of bread with it on, I have to say that my body didn't quite like it (for those who like it nasty, I blew chunks for about five minutes straight) I guess you have to grow up with it to like the taste... that gives your body a chance to adapt. My dad eats it whenever he can get hodt of some vegemite though
  18. Since my last post I have gone through some heavy research about gameboy and DS hardware. In the original gameboy, the infamous Z80 CPU was used (also in pocket and light models) to create graphics and sound. The GBC Had an overclocked Z80 CPU running at double the speed of the original one, therefore making it compatible with the original model (by "underclocking" the CPU to half (original GB speed) The GBA had it's own newer CPU, together with a GBC CPU and a Z80 CPU, again to stay compatible with older GB/GBC games as well as the ability to play GBA games The DS cannot play older GB/GBC games for 2 reasons: 1. The original GB/GBC carts do not fit into the DS because of physical incompatability (simple: it dosn't fit) 2. The DS lacks the older Z80 CPU (from the original GBs) and is therefore not compatible with older games for more information on hardware etc.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Boy_Light Magestorm is incorrect, how he got his old games running on his DS, I would like to know... but it can't play the older games without heavy hardware modifications. The only non-DS games that the DS supports are games for GBA (though there is no multiplayer support)
  19. I believe that going into space is needed as a way of solving our problems. for example transport all africans to a planet with lots of food and resources, and voila... no poverty or hunger for them (not trying to be a racist, just an example on how this problem could be fought(on resources, not africans)) Those ppl could learn to build a society on that planet, and start using the resources and sell them. space travel is a key to most problems, especially with overpopulation and too few resources to go around. If we start conquering resourceful planets (if there is a civillization, look at ST's prime directive, we dont want war )Then a massive amount of trade could raise up from the deep. What one planet has, it could give that to another planet and vice versa, essentially none of the planets (if not overpopulated) would need to have massive amounts of goods to be sent there, because they already have resources to support the settlers. This could end up in some kind of star wars galaxy (without the jedi or the sith) where many different races and cultures are mixed, as well as humans being a common sight all over the galaxy. I also believe that Earth is going to turn into a city-planet like coruscant (or better yet, "holy Earth" in WH 40k) Also if the rate of technology and building, as well as birthrate keeps steady... Earth WILL become a planet COMPLETELY covered with buildings and cities by year 3150
  20. Helium 3 is on the Moon. This can be used as fuel for spaceships! B) not only Helium-3 is on the moon, also a number of minerals that are quite rare here on earth can be found up there. Not only can it be used for spaceships, but also to start a fusion reactor :D

    STARDATE

the first two didits are marking the year, when a year has passed, the stardate goes up with 1000, the third digit are much like what we today know as a month, the last two are weeks or (a number of) days (only a little theory of mine, but it dosn't seem to fit). after the decimal mark, this could be something like the time of the day, or if it is a number of days, then it is used to count a number of hours. the Inertial dampener is a kind of shield in front of the ship, not only does it deflect at least some of the particles that float around in space, but it also acts to protect the crew from the massive acceleration that comes into effect when the ship goes to warp speed. If the damener system dosn't work or is offline, they would all be crushed against the wall (assumin everyone is standing front towards the front part of the ship) right behind them. Only thing left is a lot of blood and some organs that are just about as thick as a piece of paper, also it portcects against the effect of deceleration, for example when the ship goes out of warp
  22. IMO it's Patrick Steward, of course in the role of Picard, in the movies he's great. but also in other movies he plays his roles superbly, like X-men for instance
  23. voyager - the episode "message in a bottle" OMG that U.S.S. prometheus is so cool, could be nice to include if there was a new ST armada or starfleet command coming up
