A decent way to get around that is to backup the DVD to your hard drive using DVDShrink or DVD Decrypter. Then, just load the backup into Handbrake.

Handbrake is fantastic, but recently I can't seem to get the program to work properly. I set everything up, add it to the queue and tell it to start. The program takes like 2 seconds and then finishes without producing a file. This, after several Handbrake reinstalls.

As far as BtRL goes, I find it very intuitive to use the mouse to steer the ship, kind of like Freelancer. Then I have a Nostromo n52 to control the ship's other functions.
