  1. Awsome. The mystical element of the show is definitely on the up. It might be interesting if they actually find Earth. It would certainly make sense from a budgetary standpoint, as with the fourth season of Lexx, or errh, Galactica 1980. Talking of which, remember that they've already made a nod to 'The Return of Starbuck' ep of Galactica 1980, in season 1 with the episode where Starbuck crashes on that nasty planet alongside the captured rader. Which they eventually used to penetrate a basestar, something that was also done in the original. The only criticism I will level is that the show is not quite as subtleand sharply scripted as it once was. Its good to see Stockwell back again, did anyone else think that he looked a little, well, ill? he seems to have lost a fair bit of weight since earlier in the season.
  2. The Kat thing just could have been a bit more understated, like with Ellen Tigh. And its always obvious when a secondary (supporting, whatever) character is going to be killed off because they suddenly get a lot of emphasis in an episode. Billy being killed off was lame because it was just so obvious that it was so that he could go and film other stuff rather than being due to any kind of attempt at drama. Them best and most effective death so far has been Ellen Tigh, or the Pegasus (in a way) because it was so sudden. I suppose if I'd had any sense I would have seen it coming, but I think we'd all got used to it being there and given up guessing when it would get trashed, so they could do it in the most predictable way possible and get away with it.
  3. I've mentioned before how this is an example of a shoestring film that looks decent because most of the budget was spent on shooting on decent film stock not dreadful lloking DV tape. And yes, it was excellent, thought I will admit it didn't make much sense and I have always intended to watch it again.
  4. I think they might have overkilled the emphasis they placed on killing off a secondary character. Did anyone else notice the nod to the original series with the guiding the fleet through an inferno to prevent a food crisis? Except I think in the original it was also a minefield and it all took place right after the destruction of the colonies. We also got a good look at the Silent Running ship, which is actually identical to the ship from Silent Running, stock footage of which was used in the original series, and the majority of the fleet is faithful to the original. Overall, pretty good and well filmed.
  5. Remember that there can be no Andreas Katsulas or Richard Biggs in the upcoming project. Which is a shame.
  6. Its not that I'm lazy, its just that a lot of the people who like to use computers are, well.. bums.
  7. i think the important thing is which characters a character based episode relates to If its Baltar or Adama, its great, but when its Starbuck or Apollo, it can be not so great, or though they do have their moments.
  8. This is great news. Its good to see that this is a not an overly ambitious project that will fail to gain widespread following, like Crusade and Rangers, hammer another nail into what I thought was a long sealed coffin. THe problem is that B5 standalone projects often reek of cheese and come off as hammy and badly put together. I hope that won't be the case here. The Rangers pilot was just utterly dreadful, and it was sad to see it replace Crucade, which was a much better conceived project with a decent leading man in Gary Cole. I thought that had some potential to be honest, I can understand that it may have seemed dreadful, I did think that Cole was good enough in the part to make it worth watching, despite a rather embarrasing start, something along the lines of: "I'll bend the rules, I'll piss off a lot of people on the way, but I'll get the job done." If project is an attempt to provide an interesting compliment to the B5 story, it may be excellent. and the idea of the distant past is good as well. I think possibly the best episode of B5 was actually what ended up as the finale to season 4, where it darted across a timeline of several thousand years, it had an academically credible attitude to historical perspective.
  9. It helped to fill in some of the blanks which distanced the audience from the characters. Interesting thing is that I know absolutely nothing about what will happen next. Now that is exciting. Bring on the Ship of Lights.
  10. I'd like to see more of Garret's Wang. Someone had to say it.
  11. I would be quite suprised to hear that you'd actually tried to read any Trek novels. As I've stated before, I'm always suprised to hear that anyone who has ever been involved with a member of the opposite sex, or their own for that matter, has attempted to read Trek fiction. Except the Garak novel maybe, apparently that's awsome.
  12. I thought you loved these guys? And I swear that was the New Voyages Spock at the helm.
  13. Hahah. Apparantly its pronouced 'Wong.' So he's lucky, well maybe. It would be quite fun to be called Wang.
  14. They should have had Nimoy and Denise Crosbie in Nemesis.
  15. Star Trek:Of God's And Men Trailer (about 5 mins, 40mb, MOV format I have to say that its looking better than the previous trailer with some signs of some attempts at rousing performances. On the other hand it looks like it might be somewhat hamfisted, it still suffers from being shot on cheap looking DV and while the effects are something to look at, they still pale in comparison with, say, that Finnish 'Star Wreck' film, which had more or less industry standard amateur CGI. Overall it seems like a respectable effort that may be much appreciated in the current climate. Hopefully not in the same way as giving a glass of saltwater to a man lost in the desert.
  16. Isn't it going to totally fail because it actually takes more effort to lift your arms than use keyboard/mouse. Like the interface in Minority Report. I mean, what fat loser wants to wave his arms about to use a computer? Its important to be able to distinguish between what seems cool in concept and practical in application.
  17. Argos UK I know I start to whine about getting a big TV occasionally but It looks like it might be gettting to be a good time to do so. It also looks like it really might be worth going the whole 42 inches too, if you can get an HDTV for 700 pounds. It is still probably good to wait until new year, but Jesus, I think I'll jump on the first good offer I find. Are there any serious drawbacks in going for a cheaper brand? I'm prepared for the possibility that the speakers might be a bit crappy, or something like that. I'd certainly want to avoid paying double the amount and getting a name brand model. We all use TFT monitors from completely random unknown manufacturers that work fine, so would it not be okay to get HDTV's, being the same technology, from the same companies? The way I see it, the change that has taken place in the market is mainly to do with a shift towards devices that don't have moving parts. Where Samsung and LG used to make crap video machines and walkmen, they are now respected manufacturers of HDTVs, perhaps it is easier to make devices that function well when they are esentially static rather than having moving parts prone to mechanical failure?? Although CRT technology may not really have had moving parts (except for the on/off switch, which would actually seem to be a prime cause of old TV's breaking down) the massive amount of power being blasted down the tube meant that it was distinctly perishable. So, should I get a cheap brand model? I'm certainly tempted. If I was told that there is a good chance they'll break in a year or so I'd consider reconsidering.
  18. Oh yes, I just realised I said all that at the start of the thread.
  19. I think neighbours eventually clocked on to my stealing their connection. After about three months. Possibly due to the fact that I had to dangle the receiver half way out the window in a bin bag to get a decent signal in bad weather. Not all that clever. I've probably damaged our non relationship with the chumps. Either that or my wireless card broke. Both possible.
  20. 'Scouting for Boys' -really quite tragic.
  21. GOD DAMN THANKSGIVING. ITS NOT A FAIR THING TO DO TO A DEPRIVED MAN>>>
  22. I think this dude might actually be a Vulcan. You can tell, because he has used his Vulcan cunning and not put 'Vulcan' as his location in his profile, to maintain secrecy. Maybe he was that one that decided to stay here when that Vulcan ship crashed on Earth in the fifties. Welcome to Paradise City.
  23. Was Mpaa1 Katerina? I thought it was one of the older banned users, or some disgruntled insomniac, or some washout actually somehow involved in antipiracy. I have job now. Hence posts shorter, alongside periods of unconsciousness.
