An interesting (to me) article was on CNN this morningabout iTunes improving ratings and that they didn't expect or worry about the effect on DVD sales.

"Overall' date=' we've seen our ratings increase for the shows we have on iTunes, and it continues to pick up momentum," said Albert Cheng, executive vp digital media at Disney-ABC Television Group.[/quote']
"The DVD potentially will get affected' date=' but the revenue as it relates to the studio is higher because of the cost being so much lower and the price points being the same while you're getting a larger percentage of the revenue," Silverman said.[/quote']That's Ben Silverman of "The OFFICE"

The entire article is here At CNN

There is alot of talk of how and why networks are liking this, like making money from sales they wouldn't have gotten from people who won't buy the DVD but would pay 1.99us per show instead.

The issue with this is the simple fact that the majority of television viewers do NOT want to pay $2 for a tv show. Why the hell pay that when they can download it from places like this for free, or get an inexpensive tv capture card added to their computer, and record it themselves?

The ones paying the nutso prices are those who have lots of money, and just want to get the envy factor from their coworkers as they watch their show on their overpriced iCrap players.

But, I forsee a day coming that will remove broadcasters from the shows. A day when a 1 hour television show isn't 40 minutes of show and 20 minutes of commercials, but an ACTUAL hour of show.

Tell these suckers from Crapple to stick their exorbant prices up their wazoos, and demand HyD TV instead.
