No matter what you pick, you'll appreciate things about the other ones that you wish were part of yours :cyclops: I don't care about politics, scientific acheivement will eventually undermine government influence. That is, if we don't kill ourselves first. Oh well, Trek will happen, it'll all be good. PS When WW3 Happens, who wants to hide out and develop faster than light travel in hopes of achieving first contact? We've got the great choice of Liberals (Power whores), The progressive alliance or whatever they call themselves (basicly old men afraid of change) And the NDP (the joke that never gets old). And if your lucky enough to live in quebec, you can choose the Bloc (angry bitter frenchmen). Basicly, in canada, we don't really care who's running the country, as long as they don't screw something up. I mean hell, our last PM Jean left the country on biz, and his popularity raiting went up. I think the socialists of denmark is "SF" (socialistisk folkeparti) or "Enhedslisten" - just like "Venstre", which means left in danish, is actually on the right wing. Of course, I do have a favourite political system: European Socialism. Hey, if DEMOcracy is by the people, is DEOcracy by the god? I wish the US had a stronger Social Democrat tradition. You're mixing Greek and Lation with "deocracy" ... keeping it in Greek, it's "theocracy." Personally, I like Jared Diamond's label of all governmental systems that support a parasitic class on the backs of the people ... kleptocracy - "ruled by thieves!" Who thinks we live in a Democracy? Do any of you think that America is now, or has ever been a Democracy? If so, why? Our founding fathers feared two things: Democracy and Monarchy, and saw to it that we would never have either. And yet we purport to export Democracy by force to our Middle East protectorates while denying it in our own back yard to Haiti. In a Representative Democracy, Al Gore would have been president because The Majority (i.e. Popular Vote) wanted him to be their leader. However, in our Glorious Republic, NON-elected officials representing not The People, but the best interests of The Republic decided the Presidency as per rule of constitutional law. The constitution BTW never once uses the word democracy, and for good reason: “Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their death.†-- James Madison, father of the Constitution Our Founding Fathers were cultured gentlemen who rightly feared giving the ignorant masses the power to affect their great wealth, power or freedom.
