TetsuoShima
For the article: http://blog.ce-pro.com/news/industry/6708.html Now, I'm wondering whether that's a good thing or not... Okay, you'll be able to play both formats, but this also increases the chances that neither standard will become dominant, thus players will have to feature both formats and prices for the consumer go up, while both competitors get paid... To be even more paranoid: might this have been the intention all along, to get some more money from us and have two happy consortiums?
NiteShdw
Does this remind you of the DVD+/-R wars? Which is better? Whos knows, I just buy whatever is cheaper!
Steveo
It'll end up, like any format war, with a winner. They always do, and it'll depend what is released on what, compatibility and price.
weareborg
PS3 anyone? Why buy a Blu-Ray player when the PS3 will have one, and it'll cost half the price of Blu-ray players when they come on the market fully.
magestorm
This is exactly what happened with DVD+/- R formats. Most manufacturers wound up just making players and drives that run both.
remedyu
Hell yeah, I buy a recorder that does both. Wouldn't there be some licensing issues with releasing a Blu-Ray/HD-DVD player so early in the game?
