HEAT84
Is anyone eagerly awaiting the premier? It looks interesting to me. I don't know if I wanna get involved in another TV series though.
Guest c4evap
I looked it up on the Scifi Channel website. Here's a quote: From unrequited love to professional jealousy, from addiction to depression, the problems of Eureka's townsfolk stem from life's myriad of everyday challenges. But with the population's unique talents, troubled psyches and limitless resources, these small-town concerns have a way of becoming big-time problems. It is at that intersection, where human frailty and super-science collide, that Eureka begins…. Hmmmmmm...sounds like it's going to be a scifi soap opera. I suppose I'll check out the pilot at least. c4 B)
Guest Mrthumps
It sounds like an interesting show but based on what c4 just put up I don't know if I'll make it past the first episode. It almost sounds like they're trying to make a sci-fi desperate housewives.
subspatial
so did anyone watch this? The promo's look really really cool... (especially the one where they build a new house from a pod) ..but as stated above.. the blurb for the show puts me off a bit. Is it a Sci-Soapy? Or is it a sci-fi? Will it go the way of Threshold and Odyssey etc? Or does it seem to have legs?
slug
I know nothing outside that blerb but it sounds a bit 4400/invasion like, small town scifi soap, I watched a few 4400, I have the rest but just don't feel motivated to watch them. I'll watch any scifi, if its scifi rather than just supernatural shash, but a lot of it seems too soapy these days, maybe its a backlash against scifi not being character driven enough, something dealt with well with Galactica, but then these characters need to be people you care about in interesting situations, which I don't find with say, 4400, does that get going? I only watched a few so far.
Guest Mrthumps
I caught the first and based solely upon that it's definitely not a soapy and more closer to Xfiles in Northern Exposure. I like the ep and I think I'll continue watching the show. It shows plenty of promise.
Antipodean
Man - I LOVED the episode! It's looking good, and I'll definately be watching out for the rest of the series.
Amnot Borg
It has Matt Frewer!!! Max Headroom has another job. Yay!
Tenebrae
At least we know that the Russian guy from SG-1 didn't die - he just got sent to another universe and changed naionality. Well, it didn't pull any punches when it came to cheesiness. We had the classic passing-through-the-town-and-getting-stuck there. The dysfunctional father/daughter, the hard ass ex-military chick (who seemed to have raided the props box from MiB), the military being all bossy, the promotion at the end... the traitor in the midst, the threat to the world - narrowly averted by the new guy. There's potential but it didn't wow me.
Antipodean
It has Matt Frewer!!! Max Headroom has another job. Yay! Is he the bloke with the hunting fetish and the accent that can't decide whether its Russian, NZ, Australian or South African???

Is he the bloke with the hunting fetish and the accent that can't decide whether its Russian, NZ, Australian or South African??? Yes! Exactly right. He's the biological containment specialist with the fake accent. The guy that found the back end of the RV in the forest. I'm glad he's working tv again. I missed him. His last movie AFAIK was the new version of Dawn Of The Dead. Tiny part, too. :cyclops:

That has got to be the worst fake Australian accent i have ever heard.. ..and here i was thinking he was South African.... Max Headroom = Good Americans with aussie accents = Bad :)

Tenebrae
Out of interest - how's it going? I've not watched it since the first two episodes and I can't be bothered to investigate it without knowing it's good.
S0V13T
I'm really digging this new series. It's exactelly my kind of sci fi, instead of focusing all the attention of the alien of the week, fancy ship battles / combat scenes, it's an all earth based human series, based on when experements go wrong, and the people that have to deal with it. I really like how it isn't star trek / stargate, as in they have to rely on aliens, impending doom or what not to make stories entertaining. Amnot Borg
nah, Eureka is funny. the humor takes away the weird stuff from the freaky science. jack Carter, the sheriff, is hilarious because he's the normal guy, trying to keep things in order for all the geniuses in town. Tenebrae
I may go back to check Eureka out when the 1st season is finished but it really didn't do much for me. It comes off as a more sedate SG-1... Except, you've got Sheriff O'Neill and a whole town full of Sams, Rodneys and Daniels.
