Alot of the stuff is made up' date=' and can't really be understood except for in terms of star trek. Which is awesome.[/quote']

Of course! But I love the internal consistency of the Trekiverse. Learning how it works is fun. Reminds me of the days when I combed Tolkien to learn the underlying details of Middle Earth.

Not all, but many.

Do you know that turbo lifts are driving sideways, too - not only up and down :stare: I found that out looking at Enterprise-D blueprints, borrowed from a friend about 10 years ago.

And the whole subspace-thing is really fascinating B)

Even captain Picard did not know all the terminology.

How many times would he say during some crisis "explain, data" ???

If not in every episode, at least in every other one. But I think most of that was because they wanted the audience to get an idea of what was going on.

Most of the basic stuff, of course even crew men (women) knew. But some of the hard core engineering/scientific terminology had to be explained even to the captains.

The wonder tool of the Universe........The Hypospanner!

:D

Which, near as I can tell, is an elaborate torque wrench.

LOL!

;)

Anyone have any idea what a hypospanner would do in real life? Like, it seems to be the equilivant of a screw driver, or a wrench in the Trek world.
