  1. well, if you ask me its good for watching from 4th season on - when worf comes on DS9. its much more fun :) and you can see why/how dominion war acctually started. just ignore bashir and you will be ok ;) (just couldnt resist; ok that was a joke - I dont need some bashir lover to rant over me:))
  2. I belive sly12 is trying to say is that we are only humans and if you like one thing (women in lesbians case) you will naturally incline to present your case in better light. Its totally normal becose we know things we like best, the most (who wouldnt if we choose to integrate them into our life). its vice versa also. and yes, we are "assuming that liking men is the default option" - in nature it is so. "that if you don't like them, then you must be a Lesbian" - :) well that is not entirely true, but it is most likely however. instead being a lesbian you can be a pedofile, animal "lover".. but lets say this are deviations not worthy of thinking/mentioning..
  3. - cat toy (instead of a mouse or a fluffy stick), more pieces there are the better (cat will go nuts - tested:)) - nibble toy for hamsters and ginnypigs (never tested, I belive its harmful) - creative jewelry for women (ingredients: uncooked spaghetti, some string and glue)
  4. I cant belive that nobody has at least mention Stanislaw Lem! :( Ijon Tichy in Memoirs of a Space Traveller or The Star Diaries are classic. not to mention Solaris and The Invincible.. why I like him so much? becose of his depth - he is satirical, philosophical, and science fiction writer. edit: I just found some fragment from THE TWENTY-SECOND VOYAGE from The Star Diaries: Why is Life on Earth Impossible? This was a great day for the Andrygonians; in all the schools final examinations were just now being held. One of the government representatives inquired if I would care to honor the proceedings with my presence. Since I had been received with exceptional hospitality, I could hardly refuse this request. So then, straight from the airport we went by wurbil (large, legless amphibians, similar to snakes, widely used for transportation) to the city. Having presented me to the assembled youths and to the instructors as an eminent guest from the planet Earth, the government representative left the hall forthwith. The instructors had me sit at the head of the plystrum (a kind of table), whereupon the examination in progress was resumed. A Wurbil The pupils, excited by my presence, stammered at first and were extremely shy, but I reassured them with a cheerful smile, and when I whispered the right word now to this one, now to that, the ice was quickly broken. They answered better and better towards the end. At one point there came before the examining board a young Andrygonian, overgrown with ruddocks (a kind of oyster, used for clothing), the loveliest I had seen in quite some time, and he began to answer the questions with uncommon eloquence and poise. I listened with pleasure, observing that the level of science here was high indeed. Then the examiner asked: "Can the candidate for graduation demonstrate why life on Earth is impossible?" With a little bow the youth commenced to give an exhaustive and logically constructed argument, in which he proved irrefutably that the greater part of Earth is covered with cold, exceedingly deep waters, whose temperature is kept near zero by constantly floating mountains of ice; that not only the poles, but the surrounding areas as well are a place of perpetual, bitter frost and that for half a year there night reigns uninterrupted. That, as one can clearly see through astronomical instruments, the land masses, even in the more temperate zones, are covered for many months each year by frozen water vapor known as "snow," which lies in a thick layer upon both hills and valleys. That the great Moon of Earth causes high tides and low, which have a destructive, erosive effect. That with the aid of the most powerful spyglasses one can see how very often large patches of the planet are plunged in shadow, produced by an envelope of clouds. That in the atmosphere fierce cyclones, typhoons and storms abound. All of which, taken together, completely rules out the possibility of the existence of life in any form. And if concluded the young Andrygonian in a ringing voice-beings of some sort were ever to try landing on Earth, they would suffer certain death, being crushed by the tremendous pressure of its atmosphere, which at sea level equals one kilogram per square centimeter, or 760 millimeters in a column of mercury. This thorough reply met with the general approval of the board. Overcome with astonishment, I sat for the longest while without stirring and it was only when the examiner had proceeded to the next question that I exclaimed: "Forgive me, worthy Andrygonians, but : ... well, it is precisely from Earth that I come; surely you do not doubt that I am alive, and you heard how I was introduced to you ..." An awkward silence followed. The instructors were deeply offended by my tactless remark and barely contained themselves; the young people, who are not as able to hide their feelings as adults, regarded me with unconcealed hostility. Finally the examiner said coldly: "By your leave, sir stranger, but are you not placing too great demands upon our hospitality? Are you not content with your most royal reception, with the fanfares, the tokens of esteem? Have we not done enough by admitting you to the High Plystrum of Graduation, is this still insufficient and you wish us in addition to change, entirely for you, the school program?1" "But ... but Earth is in fact inhabited ..." I muttered, embarrassed. "If such were the case," the examiner said, looking at me as if I were transparent, "that would constitute an anomaly of nature."
  5. some of the favorite problem-solving "suggestions" for all occasions from computer illiterates: "Right click it!" "De-connect!" "Fix the cookies!" "De-boot it!" "Defragg it!"
  6. I have yamada 6700 (yes, europe is kickin butts:)) and I havent meet a file I dl-ed that wouldnt play on it - ok, mkv/matroshka files excluded of course.
  7. me too - a mirror universe version of Voyager; lots of fun :) doesnt DS9 have it also?
  8. ditto, voyager is the best for me! :) DS9 after worf came on board was also good. but I cant stand bashir - who is seeing him as "atracitve" is beyond my perception.. now worf for example is another matter ;)
  9. there are some studies which point to that might be some genetic predispositon but some concrete evidence? no(t yet). the human genom is a vast unknown aeria we have yet to research.
  10. I voted never but I suposse thats becose I find it unnatural. I know many lesbians and dont have anything agaist homosexuals, male or female (designed some flyers for them mind you:)). I just see it as a sort of copying of the heterosexual nuclear family which happens/occurs naturally if you let our species to form the most close bind groups. and Im all for natural - so I voted never, no offense to anyone..
  11. I dont see why the theory of evolution/big bang would absolutelly deny intelligent design behind it or for that matter why creationism (genesis) wouldnt be to a degree some part of it. and vice versa. point is that we really know a very small part of the hole picture and maybe some of this things overlap each other in some places.. about string theory - there is acctually one unifying string theory (from edwad witten) which combines all 5 string theories in one; and in that case we would have 11 dimensions to consider. so, heh; if that is really the case (it doesnt matter if you use evolution, creationism or intelligent design behind it), we will still have a lot to understand to even begin to imagine the hole complexity of the universe and what is behind it (or not?:))
  12. anyone seen Stargate Atlantis ep 13 yet? now, that is a really good episode in my opinion :) I cannot open a thread on it (I get some weird error) so Ill wait with other comments till someone does..
  13. well, as a U.S. Government gimp I think he should be dressed and treated as such till the rest of his life :)
  14. yes, flox is the most exotic one of the bunch; werent there some sort of alien bats on the loose and flying around the medical room in one episode? pretty funny :)
  15. BSplayer all the way (www.bsplayer.org) and video on yamada dvx 6700
  16. I had only opera for a while but so many pages werent loaded properly (sloppy programers I suppose) and as a designer I had to see them as they were originally ment to look, so firefox was the next option in line. surely better than IE? :)
  17. I agree, rape isn't funny at all - its in the same category for me as choping the animals apart. never funny!
  18. EMH all the way - the guy (pardon me - fotons:) has a lot of dry humor but whats cracking me up is how funny is he when he is cranky. remember the starship vortex and voayeur? :D fotons be free!!! ;)
  19. just watched the cam version and its not that bad - it acctually has a storyline which I followed till the end :) I give it 7/10

    Voyager...:(

impulse0066 welcome here and yeah - what were they thinking (enterprise ending).. maybe they thought that this will sort of connect ent. more with other startrek series. becose of all other misses they introduced into enterprise and it didnt work very well (that temporal issue with WW2 for example - didnt like it at all).. so they went with the recipe that worked before and has credibility. but I may be wrong, you never really know whats in producers heads.
