  1. I am sorry, but I will begin with... BorisP
  2. In a hunt to spread meta-data, I propose a new topic Naming our peers from the past... Name a Member or User of NiteSciFi Forums. From any point in it's History: You have 20 seconds to comply. If you match a previous answer, you will be DELETED! Or we will ASSIMILATE your suggestion into conversation...
  3. [Red Faced] Oh yeh, that. We LOVE you Nite!!! I do remember some of you meeting up, at some point. perhaps we should try to 'poke the old bear' and see who is around these days. How big is the contact list TFMF?
  4. Perhaps our peers can start recommending TOS Animated episodes for you to watch, to speed up the time. [sounds like a whole new topic 🙂] As a Treker/Trekie(?) fanatic, I make my pilgrimage every few years. Watching ALL of Star Trek in order, paying special attention to the release/air dates. And there is always everyone's opinion on a 'Machete order'. i.e "Watch it in this order, minus these episodes" YES! Looks like there are many posts to make... And well before they start airing new Start Trek.
  5. I am very glad to be back. I am even happier the forum is back. Sorry, it took me a while to get the Flux Capacitor aligned... us antipodeans are very busy at this time of year 😉
  6. I thought you would have already added a background pic like this TFMF 🙂
  7. It all looking great TFMF. And everything is running smoothly as far as I can see. The only function I can't seem to find is to change my profile group or class. e.g. Academy, Command, Operations, other, etc I remember changing mine around a few times, but settled on something like anomaly.
  8. As I step through the subspatial anomaly, into the newly crafted airlock, I stop and ponder... Why am I in an airlock? Why aren't we being greeted on the other side of that airlock door? Oh no! Why is the airlock closed? I didn't dock like a normal vessel... Can someone Flush the Airlock? I think i am just going to have to transport myself to the Bridge. Or... they do have beer in ten-forward. Hmmmm... I knock on the Airlock Door. "Hello, It's me, Pete. Do you remember me? Sorry about the subspatial anomaly and all... I come from the land downunder. Is anyone home? ... " A subspatial anomaly appears... [Red Alert klaxons are heard] ...
  9. I like where the series is going, paying homage to the classic Doctor... while progressing it forwards. But I do feel like they are holding back a bit, perhaps playing it safe, and not quite going for some ground breaking sci-fi/fantasy. I suppose the Doctor has to find his her their feet, and then we will delve into a deeper (perhaps darker) story line. Although I laughed a lot during Arachnids in the UK, and raise my hat to the classic Doctor ... [I'm not actually wearing a hat] ... it was my least favorite episode of the new Doctor.
  10. BTW: My Alienware gaming PC, and my Xbox just sit there gathering dust. I'm so looking forward to a long holiday soon. I can finally start going through my 'Pile of Shame'. That's what I call of the large games we own and have never played.
  11. It could depend on the definition of Browsing the internet. My average day would be 40% Phone + 40% Tablet + 20% Work PC's/laptops/tablets. When you include things like a Smart TV into the mix and include e.g. Youtube, or news services, that would add in a fair amount on top. And then, how do you include the multi-tasking of using the Smart TV, PC/Tablet and phone at the same time (?)
  12. Star Trek Bridge Crew VR Awaiting Fallout 76... It better be good Bethesda! 😉
  13. Oh Flicky, I do remember you now. Sorry, it's been such a long time. I always had trouble trying to time the gaming, or even the old attempts at real-time chats. And the internet was so slow back then, and the server lag..... well. And the time differences never worked in my favour. If anyone remembers, I live down-under. I remember there were a few - in person - meetings across the Atlantic and Europe (?). Did anyone get to actually meet anyone else in person?
  14. I am so happy you got the Forum up and running TFMF Particularly at a time of renewal for Science (&) Fiction As a lifetime user of the Nite [shadow] forum incarnations, I have seen it (and some of its creators and users) fall, delete, fail, revive, fade and be reborn. And as you know, not just once, but many times. Through the Torrent age, copyright infringements, re-birth, Boris P., and all of the thousands of posts over the years, we've maintained a tele-present community of friends. [and I suppose a few foes as well😉] The forums have survived because of fine intelligent users, and sci-fi lovers, such as yourself TFMF. I am so happy we will now be around for perhaps the 20th Anniversary of the forums. That's only a couple of seasons of ST:Picard, Doctor Who, and who knows, maybe a new Stargate series, away 🙂
  15. I'm glad you have landed on the forum flicky 🙂 And yes, the Doctor is real sci-fi... And Asimov is one of my idols.
  16. Hey Flicky: I take it you are watching ST in the chronological release order (?!?) Will you be watching all of the films too? There is a bit of crossover, when DS9 and then Voyager commence. I strongly recommend watching the TOS Animated series. It gets a little wacky, but there were some of the best ST episodes in the Animated series.
  17. Hi all, long time, no chat. I am really excited about this new ST series, and that's one of the reasons I am happy to have this forum back. I see years of ST discussion to come 🙂 The show will be set in the 24th Century, 15-20 years after TNG. Picard will be an older, more determined man - who may have changed substantially. Many of the old cast rumored to be making cameos, Including Frakes (Riker), Spiner (Data), Burton (Jordy), Sirtis (Troi), McFaden (Dr. Crusher), Wheaton (Wesley) etc. One would assume John Delancy (Q) will also be back. And some episdes may be directed by old cast members. Jonathan Frakes and other cast have been directing ST episodes for years. Frakes has recently Directed ST: Discovery and The Orville. Like the best of the ST universe, the series will make strong connections to our current world, humankind, politics, law etc. To see how excited Patrick Stewart is about his return, I know it will have to be brilliant. Stewart will obviously have a strong influence over the series. But it may not be Picard at the helm of a vessel. And it could feature branching storylines, or take a non-episodic approach. Like "Tales from Star Trek" Honesty, which ever way it goes, I cant wait... It will be released late 2019 or early 2020. And has been fast tracked, so we may even see it earlier [fingers crossed]
  18. Hello Jonathan,

    My name is Pete.

Pronounced = 'Peat' to you Scottish fold.

This will be  the only time we speak out of character....

    So, TFMF...

How is the new forum going?

      [?!?]

  19. He is indeed a brilliant Captain. Hard and clever. But (after watching DS9 again lately) Sisko does get a bit annoying. e.g. as mentioned with his hatred of Eddington, that within two minutes turned to respect. He also goes on and on about what's important to him. Bajor this and Bajor that, I am of Bajor BAJOR .. Build a house on Bajor. ...just shut the hell up and kill those dominion troops already. Alright i got carried away there, what i mean is: Within his brilliance he is rather self serving and anal. But I love him non the less. :)
  20. hehe, I twas indeed a fantastic run of special FX. I agree with most; I think they rushed the storyline through.. ..but it must have taken them all year just to get those Fx rendered. Now, i can't seem to find the old post, but.. .. i remember, during the first season I/we was predicting that Atlantis would launch into space. It always seemed the logical progression to the series. Atlantis, a city lost at sea / in space (Oh Oh, Danger Will Robinson...) I can't wait for the jokes next season.. .. I can hear it now. "Danger Dr.McKay! DANGER!!!" ;D
  21. woot woot, ...now thats exciting news. I haven't been this excited about a new game for eons, (well i was excited about Legacy - for a month) Oh gods, please let it be a brilliant PC game!!!!
  22. wow, So they can't win against one member of the family, so Try another one... and another. Hey i'm sure they've got aunties and cousins and grandparents too... Why not make a claim against his unborn children. They could one day make a copy of the pirated music.... Ok maybe thats a little absurd, ...but so is suing a child.
  23. I gotta agree with bones on 'some' of these issues. -2100: China invents Gunpowder - 2000: China Launches Rocket Fire works 1985: USA becomes first nation to destroy satellite in orbit. 1987/2000+: US, After public disasters in space exploration decides to halt/stall it's space explorations. 1990+: Space Race Ends 1990/2000+: Russia/China/EuroSpace assist US in launching Spy sattelites and continue space Exploration. 199?: USA refuses to sign Kyota accord. (yeh Ok my dates are way off) 2000(odd): Deep Impact & Armegedon screen. Current Reign(couple of years ago): USA reinstates accord to perceive any other countries weapons tests in space as a threat against US National Interests. Fact 1: US Spy Sattelites are about 850km up. About the same distance the Chinese Missile reached it's target. Fact 2: Ok.. I don't know where i'm going here... ??? But This is a larger issue than Race & National Security.
  24. I think.. ...research in nano-tech is definatly the last bastion of medical science, with many cures for diseases etc. They could replace anti-biotics and radio/kemo therapies. But then... ...If the 'nano's' start mimicing Bacteria (or fungus) behaviour we are all in big trouble. In that case... "I love the Nano's.. future creator... and God of man...etc ...brownnose etc ...." ;D
  25. Scream of the Shalka the animated webcast 'A' .....
