  1. umm, I got lost... are we still looking for "T"? Tandaran (Alien species)
  2. Is he the bloke with the hunting fetish and the accent that can't decide whether its Russian, NZ, Australian or South African??? That has got to be the worst fake Australian accent i have ever heard.. ..and here i was thinking he was South African.... Max Headroom = Good Americans with aussie accents = Bad :)
  3. any news on that Web-cast BSG pre-season thingy? I think they were planning to do a ten wepisode thing.... ...can't find anything on the site.
  4. Edwardes (ship's communications officer) The Trial of a Time Lord: Terror of the Vervoids Played by actor Simon Slater that would leave an "S"
  5. Albert Einstein. Einstein: "..I zee you still do nut undarstand my friend...." [he enters talking to someone behind him] ...
  6. tis a good point though... If i have a VCR copy of eg. Galaxy Quest can i get a transcoded version of it? and yet another point may be: Its not my fault sum idiots out there also illegaly download my material....?!?! I was just trying to format shift it to my computer.... overseas....?!?! ..... I know that in Oz, we have to break the encryption to copy it, in fact adding to the legitimacy of copyprotection breaking software, in sum regards it means that (even though the law says otherwise) i have to 'void' copyprotection to make a legal backup of my DVD.... if ya see where i'm going.... I would have to 'illegaly' use anti-copyprotection software to make a Legal copy. hmmmph?!?!? gets more and more confusing....
  7. here here for stargate, also: Other Gene Rodenberry (creator of Star Trek) adventures Earth: Final Conflict Andromeda You must see: Dr Who (all 27+ seasons) maybe also depending on taste: X-Files Threshold EUReKa Dark Angel Jake 2.0 HyperDrive and the cartoons: Tripping the Rift (not for the kids though) Transformers (Beast Wars, Cybertron etc) Justice League Futurerama Stargate & Trek etc animated series (TAS) Edit: & i almost forgot: NB:Admins : We no longer have anything to do with torrents here, but a suggestion may be that we re-gather a Sci-Fi database (in a similar style to old ways) with attachments to official sites photos threads etc. (it's always so time consuming going through all the forum to find threads on shows - and i'm always interested in other seasons and comments on shows before i buy them .... ie. [in a sense] try before ya buy)
  8. Yeh.. Every disc i buy is a printable media. ,they always look a lot nicer (even if you don't print on em) The best gift i got given lately is my new 'Sharpie Twin tip' marker. It's great!!! :) (although my handwriting is still shocking)
  9. hehe... Bill Gates for World President!!! :)
  10. ...or how about: If i was in the USA, Can I Copy a DVD i bought and email it (format shifted) to my computer in Australia???
  11. hehe, It's funny to see the MPAA reply to someone who can stand up to them, I don't think they would comment otherwise. I personnally am still a little confused on this fact.... But maybe you could answer this: Being that one owns a legitimate copy of a film etc... Is one allowed to download a film that one already has on DVD?
  12. BTW : MrThumps... I thought your avatar was from 'Voltron'... what a cool show :) Fenris: as always 10 outta 10 for the big bad wolf, I wonder if youll change it to the new wolf from the 'Hoodwinks' movie? Personally... i thought i'd go back to my namesake avatars.... Stuff from subspace :)
  13. According to the USAToday: "Record label Sony BMG Music Entertainment, .... has become the first major record label to sell an unprotected digital song. Jessica Simpson's A Public Affair went on sale this week at Yahoo Music, and .... it is compatible with all portable music players. The song is in the open MP3 format and can be transferred to an Apple iPod or players by Creative, Samsung and others." Wow .. someone must have hit their head really hard or something... Crap song, but at least it's in open format. The full story is here at USAToday
  14. True!!! But... I would think (in Co.'s eyes) that buying a piece of software lisences you to use it... ... not that it belongs to you. I mean the CD and the Box belong to you, but you can't then re-use that software in any other way...
  15. well I'm not Canadian, But... They are definatly the finest country in Northern America. OK, minus the Baby Seal bashing thing!!!!! ... Tradition my ass!!! :) It's funny I just watched Mike Moores doco "Bowling for Columbine" It contains a whole lot on why Canada is superior to their Southerly Neighbour :)
  16. hehe, wow i hadn't seen this one before. I especially like this "...the MPAA may have been within its rights to make copies of the film. Given that the MPAA's intent isn't financial gain and that the whole situation may rise above the level of trading barbs through the media into legal action, making a copy may be justified." LOL :) Does that mean that I can make a copy too? I'm not planning on selling it, just showing it to my work mates in the media industry :) Hey, actually, can i make a copy of Star Trek and show it to my workmates too? .. they are Scientists and Navy Cadets :)
  17. so did anyone watch this? The promo's look really really cool... (especially the one where they build a new house from a pod) ..but as stated above.. the blurb for the show puts me off a bit. Is it a Sci-Soapy? Or is it a sci-fi? Will it go the way of Threshold and Odyssey etc? Or does it seem to have legs?
  18. Yeh .. i remember someone talking of: "..the journals of Cochrane explaining about some cyborg aliens from the future, but it was dismissed by everyone as drunken ramblings and forgotton..." or words to that affect :)
  19. I'd even go further and think that: ...thinking entirely hypotheticly though.... El-Aurians (having special Temporal abilities) may be a little beyond Q's basic abilities... ie. They may have means of counter-acting Q's Space-Time abilities. In the Q Continuum books I remember Q referring to a few of the other "higher species" that the Q have little interaction with... I'd love to read more about it, has anyone read any ST books with more info on Guinan?
  20. Hey, I know that girl. Yeah, she doesn't like you so much anymore... ohoh someones in the doghouse :) ..... ...... A lot of people on this site are extremely knowledgeable, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back--to find out what's going on--because I am not very savvy at all, by comparison to some of the pros we have on here. here here ;) and after reading C4's opther thread on this topic i am still wondering... Should a Software company be allowed to do this sort of thing? I mean it IS their software... and they have to protect their interests......
  21. oh crap..... I already have pay for my meal 'before' I get it ;) :) actually thats how i started doing electro music... ('bout 10 years ago) ..lots of DJ's are 'finally' starting to take in their laptops to gigs, and play live samples with their LP's the Conference was interesting, but hardly resolved any issues, it just opened up more discussion. But many points were raised on all aspects of music & technology etc. I'm waiting for the 'notes' and recordings to be sent to me and i'll post them here for reference and discussion later :) thanks for ya help :)
  22. ^ I love that Data clip Arktis ^ 9.9 outta 10 (i think it should be bigger)
  23. yeh good point, I wonder how many people buy second hand DVDs/CDs... and that figure compared to 'illegal' downloads... We may find that E-Bay is the biggest copyright conspiricy in the world. You would think that MPAA would've jumped on this first (before the torrent fiasco) edit: BTW on a similar theme, I'd love your advice on this topic about music downloads
  24. I'm speaking at a conference in Australia this weekend about the past present & future of music. The forum: "Download or be Damned" will discuss many issues involving music and recording. My main discussion points will be: *A comparison between Analog & Digital Vynils/tapes vs CD/DVD vs MP3/iPods etc. *The past present and future direction of music. *Virtuality vs actuallity (software vs hardware) *The ethics of Downloading Copyright, patency, torrents etc. I know (particularly) the last topic has been in heated discussion on this forum for a while now, and so I'm asking for opinions, points of discussion, facts etc on any of this. I'd love to discuss a global view of the current situation (involving downloads etc) If anyone has any opinions on these or any ideas on other topics I would love ya feedback :) Maybe especially about what you think will happen to copyright in the near future....... :)
  25. According to the Seattle Times a second class-action lawsuit has been filed against Microsoft, Stating that Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) amounts to spyware.... The story is here at the Seattle Times Is this SPyware? Has anyone seen or been affected by WGA? I have irradicated the Sony Spyware from my system (installed by Bought CD's) but what about this new Microsux trojan?
