  1. Sony's already cutting back by not including a full PS2 chipset in newer PS3s, using emulation for backwards compatibility, and the North American 360 market is probably making up for weak Japanese sales, I'm sad to say...
  2. ... I assume you're going to give us a link to follow so we can take this test? ;)
  3. Actually the whole idea of 'perceptual filtering' and people not seeing what is there due to not wanting to see it has been around for ages... the SEP of Douglas Adams and Death from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series are just variants on the theme.
  4. Y'know... I think Martha was hit with a double whammy of prejudice: colour and class. I think they were treating her as they were as much because she was just 'a mere maid' as her skin colour. As for having to hide... doesn't the TARDIS have a recharge period? Still... the new series TARDIS seems a whole lot less impervious than before. No temporal grace, and people can teleport the Doctor and co. from within it... and now, the Doctor can't hide out within against opponents. The Family seems rather stupid... or they don't sense their environment visually. If they were close enough to shoot at the Doctor as he was escaping, it would be reasonable to assume that they saw him. :/
  5. My guess is that the experience of going 'nuclear' will give him a sense of the range of his ability and possibly teach him enough about the ability to control it. As for Jericho... yet another promising story axed by a brief ratings slump. >_<
  6. I have mixed feelings about it becoming an MMO, too. Of course, the two feelings that are mixing happen to be loathing and disappointment, so my overall impression of this idea is understandably low.
  7. If there's any evidence whatsoever of Jessica 1) being anything than another personality of Nikki, or 2) being able to possess other bodies, I haven't seen any at all. Heh... I was wondering about what happened to Wireless. Time to read through the 8 page 'novels', I guess. ^^
  8. I think the democracy is hidden behind the central focus of the various Star Trek series... the military branch known as Starfleet. We occasionally get glimpses of it (the President of the Federation, the myriad diplomatic conferences, etc. etc.), but for the most part the focus is on the military because they're doing the 'interesting stuff'.
  9. It could be just me, but it seems like they're drawing from the classic Doctor Who formula in this particular episode... not that it's a bad thing. ^^ I have to admit I'm pretty curious about who Mr. Saxon is... and what were they trying to do in the back there, trace the call? It makes me wonder if this Mr. Saxon's a time traveller... *visions of intense Mr. Saxon = The Master discussions in the future come to mind*
  10. I've probably mentioned it before, but my username's the Sword of Light Gourrey uses in the anime series Slayers.
  11. If this is the same Pauly Shore I'm thinking of, anything of his is not anybody-safe material. -_-' I would comment on the nature of Isaac's and Sylar's pictures of the President, but that's revealed in the next episode or two.
  12. To be honest, I think the audios haven't been as good of quality of late as they have been. The earlier ones ranged from okay to excellent with the occasional bomb, but with few exceptions almost everything since Zagreus has been rather... bland or flawed. Maybe we'll be lucky and some really good talk-worthy ones will come up in the near future...
  13. I'm kind of surprised that they missed the 'Mah Lazer' and 'Over 9000' things in that sequence, though... otherwise, it's very comprehensive. ^^
  14. You're right about that! *aims cannon at the net slums party!* ... if I can't throw a party, nobody can! Bwahahaha! XD
  15. I'll try not to hold that against you. ;)
  16. Given that the manga's still going on and the anime isn't, I'd say that it continues past where the series ended. ^^' ... also, given that the manga's 70 chapters, I have to wonder how much of the anime is filler...
  17. Heh... don't forget that the cool energy whip weapons the Ferengi used only showed up maybe twice in TNG and disappeared, never to return except for in the hands of Quark's Mighty Mo action figures. ;P
  18. Judging from the manga, Shippuuden's going to get quite good. ^^
  19. <- adds .hack//roots to the 'must watch eventually' list. ^^
  20. I haven't seen the movie, unfortunately... but I look forward to fixing that deficiency and read through the manga when I have a chance to see what's different. ^^
  21. Well, I decided to watch through both Star Trek : The Next Generation and DS-9 of late in one long (if intermittent) marathon, and I've noticed a few things about Klingons and the Borg... namely, that they're walking, talking, running examples of horribly maintained continuity. Klingons: Initially (start of TNG): - Death ritual of screaming to notify the afterlife that somebody's coming. - Dead bodies = unimportant carcasses. - Marriage = sex, a couple of phrases, and *poof*! Married! Eventually (end of DS9): - Elaborate death rituals 'to keep away the predators' from what was considered unimportant not that long ago. - Elaborate marriage rituals involving batliffs, etc. - Kalis this, Kalis that, Kalis all over the place! - No more screaming over Klingon bodies. The Borg: Initially: - Assimilates civilizations, not individuals (from a direct quote!). - Could care less about individual people, killing them. (Guinan mentioned this bunches of times). - Are a distinct race, with breeding chambers, etc. - A purely collective race, only assimilating Picard as a 'mouthpiece'. Assimilation process took days, and required lots of machines to physically replace parts. Eventually: - Assimilates all people encountered, and not just technology or civilizations. - Has a ... queen?! So much for redundant collectivism. - Assimilation went from multiple machines and a lot of time (cyberman-like) to two tubes. Two tube pricks, and a drone is born! ... and those two aren't the only examples of constantly morphing continuity. Feel free to list other examples of this sort of thing! ^^
