  1. I figured it couldn't really hurt (I have enough email adresses ;) ), so I put in my vote. If anyone who lives in the area can record the report and put up a torrent (I assume the report will be on TV, not on the website), I'm sure there are a lot of people interested in seeing it.
  2. Before the Klingon characters from TOS appeared on DS9, it was assumed Klingons didn't have or need a very long lifespan because of their aggressive nature. Most Klingons would love to kill a legend like Kor, Koloth or Kang in combat just so they can tell great heroic tales about it for the rest of their (probably) short life. ;) So I would have to conclude that those characters still living in the 24th century is not very realistic, but most references to TOS like those were just for fun anyway.

    Gay Trek.

It would appear that the symbionts don't have a gender and the hosts presumably usually decide to have relationships with members of the opposite sex. I suppose most hosts would be quite confused about their gender and sexuality because of the memories and experiences they carry through the symbiont. Or maybe the writers are confused. Or it could just be me. :p What I find more interesting is that at first Worf is embarrassed when Jadzia talks about her past hosts (the male ones like Curzon in particular) while Bashir is actually turned on by it. But back to the original topic... I would definately support a gay character on Star Trek. I like controversiality and Star Trek hasn't really been controversial since the first interracial kiss on American TV in the sixties. Naturally a lot of people would be shocked by it and it would turn quite a few viewers away (while attracting some new ones), but Star Trek would once again be groundbreaking. Sadly, that's why it will never happen and why Gene Roddenberry got tired of his own creation. The producers say there will be a gay character on a future Trek to keep the gay community happy, but by the time they do it they will have missed their chance to go somewhere no-one has gone before.
  4. They were in the news a few years ago when they claimed the first cloned babies had been born. They never provided any kind of proof that the babies had in fact been cloned. I guess we just have to believe them huh?
  5. Just $144k was donated. Tim claims that the money is in a non-interest account, but considering he is a convicted criminal and just about everything he has said over the past few months has been a lie, I'm not sure if I should believe him. The donations will (should) be returned - minus 5%. I don't know how much the Paypal/bank fees are, but I think he'll make a few bucks there. The announcement on TrekUnited is filled with a whole bunch of claims without any sort of proof (and my guess is they'll never attempt to provide any). Nevertheless, it's nice to see some truth in the title. They've finally ended the campaign.
  6. Oh man, that sounds as bad as any of the speculations I've read. Is there going to be any point to Riker recreating this 'historic event'? They might as well have sent Daniels over to congratulate Archer. "Congratulations, Jonathan. You did it exacly like I told you a few years ago. Well, gotta go, I have to save your @ss last week." After that the camera pulls back, showing earth and then the rest of our solar system while yet another crappy remix of the main title is played. In the last few frames we may see Brannon Braga's reflection in the window spaceship with tears rolling down his cheeks. I must admit I found this bit amusing though:
  7. Shit dude, what the fuck are you talking about? :stare:
  8. Comments like this one and others from you are why I didn't take you seriously when you padded yourself on the back for your open mindedness. Sorry for the off topic comment.
  9. Nothing will happen with the money donated to Trek United. Not until Mr. Tim is convinced that Paramount is not interested in un-cancelling Enterprise. Mr. Tim received the above letter about a month ago, so apparently he is not convinced. Tim continues to insist he is in discussion with Viacom/Paramount, but John Wentworth (executive vice president for communications at Paramount TV) denies all claims. "There are no talks going on with anybody at Paramount and the decision to end the show is final." According to Trek United "it's probably a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing." Of course, Tim can not say who he is talking to because it would jeopardize the 'secret discussions'. More here: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=30834
  10. None of those technologies existed in the 2150s according to the timeline established by the original series and The Next Generation. The Romulan War, which took place over a hundred years before TOS, was fought with nuclear weapons. Introducing phasers in Enterprise is not innovation, it's rewriting Trek lore. The original series episode Balance of Terror also mentioned that humans and romulans never had any kind of visual contact until Captain Kirk and his crew met the romulan commander. Just so everyone knows what's in store for us if that rumored movie about the Romulan War is ever made.
  11. AFAIK, the boxes are all the same. Same packaging, same contents/extras. The only difference you might find is the region they are made for. The same is true for the 3 other Treks currently available on DVD. If you are looking at TNG DVD boxes on eBay that do not look like the boxes sold by Amazon (the silver colored plastic boxes with a Starfleet logo on it), it is highly probable they are bootlegs.
  12. You are open minded? :stare: Now that's funny! I read a lot of books when I was a kid, though not many of them were sci-fi. These days I find there are a lot of things I'd rather do than read books, so I only read a few a year.
  13. The woman is obviously riding a mechanical bull! It almost appears as if she isn't wearing any clothing, but she's probably wearing a strapless top. I mean, who would ride a mechanical bull naked? :stare:
  14. To the Batcave, Robin! We have a mystery to uncover!
  15. I agree. In Voyager the Borg were no longer the all-powerful beings who didn't have any weaknesses and couldn't be defeated. Voyager ruined the Borg. I voted for the Dominion (which if you can remember actually included the Cardassians). The diversity made the Dominion so fascinating. The alliance between the different species and the frictions when things didn't go smoothly. Weyoun and Gul Dukat were great, Jeffrey Combs and Marc Alaimo really made them work.
  16. So I was right about seeing Archer in the future as an old man. But I do wonder, will we see him rock climbing with grey hair?
  17. And then they get worse again. In my opinion season 7 of TNG, DS9 and VOY were all pretty weak for the most part. I suppose if Voyager is your favorite Trek, you'll think Enterprise is great as well. Sorry if I offend any Voyager or Enterprise fans here. ;)
  18. While I would like this site to be able to offer every sci-fi movie and series, it's probably better for the site to limit itself to content that doesn't attract any unwanted attention. At the rate torrent sites are going down, Niteshdw will be targeted at some point if the site continues to grow.
  19. First his hard drive, now his mainboard. :stare: He just doesn't have any luck, does he?
  20. I hope Activision will hire some capable game development studios to make future Star Trek games. Why does it so often seem like Trek games are made by a bunch amateurs in dad's garage?
  21. At some point T'pol will have a sex change and changes her name to Sarek. Yes, Spock is half Vulcan, but not the half he thought! If Berman or Braga ever reads this, they're going to be so pissed off that they didn't think of it before shooting the finale. :cyclops:
  22. 'All good things' and 'Endgame' with the future stuff... that's typical Brannon Braga. I wouldn't be suprised if we see Archer rock climbing (possibly with Captain Riker on the holodeck) as a 90 year old man in the Enterprise finale. Not that 'What you leave behind' was all that great, but at least it managed to wrap things up pretty nicely. If I have to pick one of these episodes as the best, I pick 'The best of both worlds'
  23. I liked Pulaski. :D She was so bitchy and she thought Data was nothing more than a sophisticated calculator. Granted, she wasn't as nice to look at as Dr. Crusher. ;)
