maybe its time to turn principles on their collective heads. how different would our culture be right now if not for the roman empire and more recently the british empire. there are of course other empires but these two have changed the path of the world and the results have and will resound down the centuries as the consequences occur. rome saught to improve the world and raise it to an ideal. perhaps not the only reason for conquest nut thats what occurred in the end. the british empire was probably more about money and politics but the results have seen an improvement in standards worldwide and while it may have cost nations like india initially, they are cashing in the ticket for the big game which if not for britain they may not have had. if bush is empire building, is it a bad thing. for minor losses, i.e. financial and a few lives, wont the worlds standards improve and become a better place???????????

interestinly the crime rates are never reported and the average federation citizen is not given air time. the closest i can think of is bashir's dad who goes to prison for having bashir genetically enahanced. maybr everything is free but its not just posessions that make a crook a crook. thats why i brought up human nature some people may simply be pre-disposed to become a criminal

the issue is that iran has signed a non-proliferation treaty. korea and india (i think) have not. so the technicality is that iran is in breach of treaty. that coupled with an unstable government and doubt about whether the facilities that the iranians are bui;ding are for refining not just power generation. there SEEM to be real issues here. it also seems that iran is using the iraq invasion to try and nulify the worlds interest and sayung that they are being ganged up against. i no longer know what to think. this is a sad day because i feel unable to trust our leaders and have no clear reason to believe either side.

i ahve at one time or another on this board rattled on about the inability of humans to move on in the world and find peace. my theory is that unless human nature can change then is a trek type future possible. what do we do wrong? why do we do it? can we change? what have we learned but do not pay attention to? are we takin the right course in behavin as we are? in the west. are we on the right side? (i.e. are our causes just?) what battles should we be fighting and how do we stop doin it all wrong, if indeed we are doin it wrong? have a good day

i have been watching the channel 4 news here in blighty, the presentation is being done from locations in Iran. an interview with the minister in charge of the nuclear program categorically stated that Iran has no interest in weaponising their nuclear program. is Iran playing the game by accusing the UN that the US will look for any reason to invade? Has the UN lost so much credibility since the invasion of Iraq that a nation can hide behind the collective public of the world? if the uS and/or UN presses the issue what are the potential consequences? could Iran rally the middle east? considered opinions please. truth can only be found after all the facts have been presented and correctly evaluated
