I recently downlaoded Style XP (If you don't know what it is click here to visit their site), and amazing program that skins your windows!

I got the torrent with a keygen (because you only get a 30 day free trial) from torrentspy and my Windows now looks a bit like Mac OSX Panther. I love it. There are 1000's of skins to download and try out, with about 10 being included with the download. Try it out!

BTW :- for the torrent with the keygen in it go to:-http://ts.searching.com/torrent/469869/Style_XP_v3_14b_WinXP2003_ECLiPSE

NB: To use the keygen you have to enter a hardware ID thing that StyleXP generates when you install it. To get it load up style XP, go to Help > About style XP, and it'll show you.

But be warned, i have been told that there is a little spyware in it. I did an up to date Virus, Ad-Aware, spybot, Windows Defender scans and only got tracking cookies, so i think it's okay.

Sorry about that Nite.

The good thing about Style XP is that you don't have to do any messing around with DLL files.

I'd rather let a program do it for me.

Thanks for the info MrDad - i haven't downloaded any skins anyway. I'm using Panther (Mac OSX lookalike) skin.

Why use a third party app like style xp when you can just use a modified uxtheme.dll to unlock your already built-in theme support?

You'll be able to use the exact same themes that you're using with style xp right now, without having to use a third party app. No contest...

I use it for my kids benefit. It's easier for them to use, I have enough system overhead and I don't have to worry about them messing in the bowels of the OS.

I use the utilities available at www.Stardock.com I use their programs to change my boot screen to a cool fish instead of the winXP logo, my logon to another cool looking fish, and my windows style to lots of different skins. I also sometimes use their desktop widgets they have available. My girlfriend especially loves being able to change her profile to look like a cartoon or like spring.

WindowBlinds (Stardock software) is basically the same as StyleXP, but i have been todl by a few people that it didn't work on their PCs, so si never tried it.

Oh, and make sure you be careful if you change the Boot screen from the WinXP logo - make a backup. It can screw up windows.

Good tip. Actually... the bootscreen changer did give me blue screens occasionally. I leave it turned off now. :D The StarDock bootscreen changer doesn't do any damage to the original logo in my case. It adds a .dll file that loads at the beginning of the OS loading sequence. When you disable it, everything goes back to normal. I bet there is a way to overwrite your regualar boot screen though: thankfully I haven't done that.

I used it back in the day to change my load screen. Somehow I must have done something wrong, it fubared a critical dll for loading Windows (it would POST then just give me and error, I could reboot that was it). Back then I didn't know of any options to replace the broken/corrupt dll.

Maybe I'll check it out again sometime.
