  1. Ah winfixer. It's a pain. A lot of times this program is installed because people get a little pop up saying their computer is at risk! or is compromised! or is infected! That little popup isn't winfixer. It's usually the Vundo virus. From any number of the previous posts you should be able to remove winfixer. If the pop up to install it keeps coming back, try running VundoFix.exe from www.atribune.org. If you still can't seem to get rid of it after running the suggested programs you can email me at my username (which is Kiznik) @telus.net and I'll help you. -Kiznik
  2. Dang that BS Player! I use to use it a lot too, but I stopped because I upgraded to a newer version that kept crashing, and I reverted back to using MPC. I'm still using MPC, and I had actually considered trying another new version of BS Player, but not anymore. I understand the need for revenue, but they've got to know that market position outweighs whatever revenue they're getting for the adware 10:1. Oh well. Nice knowing ya BS Player, RIP.
  3. That device looks like rad. Especially because I could buy one, and then I'd never have to keep upgrading video cards as time went on, I could keep using that same hookup. I'm gonna go back and check again to see if there's a verson that's DVI.
  4. I drink it because my girlfriend likes it. I never disliked it but I'm starting to like it more. Actually, if you steep it in steamed milk and add a bit of vanilla and sugar, that's called a "London Fog". And it's REALLY good. I first found out it was called a London fog at an airport somewhere on my way back from Thailand. My girlfriend had just introduced me to drinking it like that, and I missed her and wanted to have some on the way home. The guy serving me was Asian, and had an accent, and he said "Did you know that's called a London Frog?" I was like oh okay, cool. But I didn't know if he meant "Fog" or if he really did mean "Frog". I asked a Starbucks person when I got back to Canada and they set me straight. :p

How right you are. Take it for what it's worth - not for what you wish it was worth. And I'm not demeaning any aspect of Star Trek: the "sillyness" is necessary in order for the episode to focus on the story / making it's point.
  6. I think the borg queen was a bad idea altogether. The concept of the borg as an alien swarm of cybernetic creatures was much cooler without having one creature with powers of control over it. It sort of defeats the whole purpose of the borg, if you ask me. One of the many ####ups of Voyager. Yeah I agree. It really doesn't make sense. I suppose that for the hive to make decisions that go out and effect all the borg drones there needs to be a centralized command of some sort, and I guess that's what she is. But to say that the Queen is somehow better than the drones defeats the purpose. I'd rather believe that she's only there to oversee the massive central command computers that gather the info from the rest of Borg.
  7. Good tip. Actually... the bootscreen changer did give me blue screens occasionally. I leave it turned off now. :D The StarDock bootscreen changer doesn't do any damage to the original logo in my case. It adds a .dll file that loads at the beginning of the OS loading sequence. When you disable it, everything goes back to normal. I bet there is a way to overwrite your regualar boot screen though: thankfully I haven't done that.
  8. It'd be pretty hard to blame THAT on your processor. Are you particularly interested in actually narrowing it down to see what the problem is?
  9. The only Star Trek game that I played a lot was "Star Trek: The Next Generation" for gameboy. It was fun, but it wasn't really special. But all I had at the time was a game boy, so I played what was available.
  10. That's why they'd benefit from some of my ideas! You speak the truth: I've never seen a Borg run. Did they take that out to save space in the brain or something??? Imagine if Borg moved even as well as a fit human: pretty difficult to stop.
  11. Of course that's just the ancient version, as reported by wikipedia.org. A commonly used modern version can be seen at www.pbs.org/.../oath_modern.html. This version was written by the Dean of Tufts School of Medicine.
  12. I use the utilities available at www.Stardock.com I use their programs to change my boot screen to a cool fish instead of the winXP logo, my logon to another cool looking fish, and my windows style to lots of different skins. I also sometimes use their desktop widgets they have available. My girlfriend especially loves being able to change her profile to look like a cartoon or like spring.

Heh heh yeah. And it would have insanely loud Midi music playing in the background while the crack was working, and the "no sound" button would be impossible to find until after you've woken up everyone on your deck.
  14. Nah, Borg have free will I think. They just understand that it's going to be best for the collective for them to remain in the collective. Maybe they have free will, but just aren't selfish with it, but at the same time don't really respect anyone else who is different. Getting someone to leave the collective is training them to be selfish and respect everyone's right to be selfish.
