  1. yay, that's fun! :D I'm up to level 11 but with a budget of $100,000 I think I will atempt it another time.
  2. I noticed that discrepancy with the "previously on..." as well, I was confused and had to go back and check the previous episode. There was also another ep with "previously on..." that showed some tension between Apollo and Dee when working out that I dont remember seeing in an episode. Or was I just not paying enough attention in that case?
  3. cant really have a balanced argument these days, when everything gets forced into being either black or white....."you're either with us, or against us"
  4. Under the circumstances I think you should keep them. We all get screwed around enough in life by others mistakes, you might as well benefit from this one. If it were an individual selling his personal stash I would return it. But it is a large group with heaps, and to whom the mistake wont make a difference. If they had been really friendly to you, despite cancelling the order I would return it, to reward the excellent customer service. But they were snooty jerks who have shown they dont care about you. Go ahead and keep it, and enjoy it. edit: LOL, there is a google ad for albert einstein action figures! they're all the rage apparently ;) maybe he could get together with barbie to teach kids science is hip ;)
  5. You've asked a question, it seems only fair to let people post their opinions. The topic isnt heated, noone is being abusive. Let people have their say.
  6. Iran wont use a nuclear weapon to strike anyone first. They know it would be the end of them. Israel alone would be capable of totally wiping them out. It isnt realistic to keep saying they are going to be the ones to attack, it is just scaremongering. let them have a nuke and some peace of mind that the US isnt about to invade. That's all this is about.
  7. I am not surprised if they want to develop a nuclear weapon. With the US attacking their neighbours and labeling them as part of the axis of evil, having nuclear weapons is probably the only thing that would ensure the US wouldn't invade. the US foreign policy is what has pushed them into this position where they feel they need adequate defence, a guarantee of their national sovereignty. They have as much right as any other nation to nuclear weapons. Israel has an ongoing policy of attacking their neighbours, a great source of instability in the region, and yet they were allowed to develop nuclear weapons. There is no way Iran is going to attack the US or Israel, they would be obliterated....especially if they used a nuclear weapon or provided one to terrorists. A nuke will only benefit them as a deterrent to invasion. If I were in their shoes I would be building a nuke. World War 3 has already started. It's up to the US where it goes from here. I predict things are going to go downhill...fast.
  8. That system looks great. Cant wait for it to be available to the public. Kinda reminds me of minority report. If this technology were around when trek was made I bet they would have used it for the consoles. They talked about modifying layout of consoles, but it wasnt anything we ever saw happen.
  9. I agree, that art isnt particularly high quality. and I think DC comics has a right to prevent people from profiting from their ideas. I am sure there are plenty of unauthorised depictions of well known characters (including sexual) strewn across the web, but unless people are profiting from it I dont think DC should be bothered to do anything about it. Nothing stopping the artist from depicting gay supercharacters of his own creation
  10. No way I'd join a forum if I had to lay out all my details
  11. in 30 minutes? wow...that's 30 times slower than hacking windows isnt it? ;)
  12. geez 14 credit cards? I cant say I feel particularly sorry for him. like everyone else he made choices. He should get into prop design though, he seems to have a knack for it (in the trek theme anyway)
  13. it could all be much ado about nothing...but until a proper study is conducted we wont know for certain. Such a study should have been done when concerns were first raised, before it was approved for human consumption. stitchintime is right that sugar isnt a primary course for weight gain, however the term "diet" on products containing aspartame is meant to appeal to people who want to lose weight, or avoid gaining it. It is the fact that it could be doing the opposite that I find somewhat amusing. ;)
  14. Aspartame should not have been approved for human consumption in the first place. The circumstances of its approval stench of corruption and vested interests. scientists have been warning off its affects on the body (see below), and the effects of the chemicals produced while being broken down in the body. There have been many indications that it can lead to cancer and other dissorders yet authorities in the US have refused to do a comprehensive study. Why? apparently they dont want to know one way or another. For all I know a proper study might prove that aspartame is actually harmless.... the fact they refuse to do a study makes me think otherwise. This is scary that the people that we are supposed to trust to safegaurd our wellbeing are prepared to stick their head in the sand for a price. the argument that we should not ban dangerous things because we allow cigarettes is just insane. Why not let children play with radioactive waste while we are at it, sure its dangerous but so are cigarettes and we allow them, and it even glows in the dark! On the other hand, maybe you are right...cigarettes are dangerous, lets ban them!
  15. that's hillarious stuff, I wonder if the copywrite owner will sue
  16. I *want* to be able to pay to download the latest eps. I am rarely free to watch things when they air on tv. I am pissed off at the lack of legitimate services available to people. There is clearly a demand, why are they wasting time when they could be making heaps of money! When I heard that itunes was providing BSG I was thrilled, as it wont be shown on tv here for probably 2 years, and even then there is no garuntee I will be able to watch it (or that it wont be pulled from the programing for sport like all other sci fi in the past). Except that service isnt available to me because I am not in the US!! My money not good enough for you frakkers?! An ISP locally has started advertising it is making movies available on the net, once again I thought "GREAT!!", checked out the service to see what sort of movies were on offer and their sci fi section sucked, only had about 7 titles and I dont think any of them were made after 1980. "They" should stop wasting people's money sueing children and dead people (or anyone for that matter) and take advantage of the new market. Obviously it is going to exist and flourish whether they want it to or not, so they should get involved and make legitimate alternatives widely available.
  17. I would prefer to see something like a social democracy or welfare state, such as in Sweden. Social democracies work for the wellbeing of all their citizens, providing free health care, education, higher standards of living, lower cost of living, reduced unemployment. Sweden achieved it through higher taxes, critics claimed this would stifle their economy, but it has infact prospered. I think if this could be implemented on a global scale the world would be much better off. Life saving drugs would not be denied to dying people who cant afford to buy it. Drug companies will no longer be able to oppose the cheap production of generic copies... (how can they put profits ahead of human life). We could overcome the hurdles poor people face by lacking access to higher education due to finances. People wont starve while developed countries waste food (I recently saw huge crops of food being destroyed because they couldnt be sold......hello!!! give it to those who need it!!!) law and order remains, as does a democratically elected political system, but money becomes less of a focus, taking a back seat to the wellbeing of the citizens.
  18. Nah, by minidisk we mean MD edit: Had they come out a decade earlier they would have done much better. But with "hard drive" based systems (mp3 players etc) obviously around the corner most people didnt see the point in investing in half measure technology.
  19. My flatmate bought a minidisk player (I told him to wait for a HD based sysyem!) it was certainly better than tapes in that you could skip tracks like cds. But they were smaller and dont hold anything other than music. Also there were restrictions that were a major pain in the arse... I borrowed his player on occasion to record dj sets, but the software would not let me copy music from the player to the computer....ended up having to play the MD and record the sound input on the computer.....not convenient! You might be interested to know that the two companies that were behind betamax and VHS all those years ago are now working together to make the HD-DVD.
  20. geez, this is meant to be a lighthearted discussion of our visions for the future. lighten up.
