  1. is there a question or point to this other than googling girls?
  2. I thought it was just a tribble that got stuck
  3. some interesting points there. Some developments locally here have addressed a couple of issues with hydrogen at least with regards to storage in saturated metal. The more efficient hydrogen production methods that requires only sunlight hopefully can be setup relatively cheaply at people's homes. With any luck in the long run people can save. I'd be curious to know exactly how much various governments are providing for further research into these and other technologies.
  4. I agree with taz, they should use the larger dvds, that way we can have best quality plus extras. Or like some released have the extras on a seperate disc. theaveng, maybe the artifacts you see are in your eyes ;) or perhaps those releases you have bought have been pirated.
  5. Sorry but reading one person's opinion does not necesarilly make you informed. He could have an agenda for saying alterntive fuel technology is flawed. What are some of the problems that Robert's has outlined? From what I have seen the technology is ready to go. The hydrogen can be produced using sunlight without converting to electricity, and there is an efficient hydrogen storage method that doesnt involve using high pressure gas cylinders.
  6. technically EVERYTHING is a transient technology, it is only a matter of time before something new and better is created. By that logic we should never use anything because it will only be replaced sooner or later. Obviously dvds will be replaced, but in the meantime they have relatively high storage capacity and versatility, you can't stick a VHS into a computer and MDs dont work with my tv, so dvds is the best available. At less than 50cents for 4.7 gig it is cheaper than the hard drive I would need to use to store things on waiting for better storage technology. I think you have made more torrent requests than any other member on this site.

i just want captain, no more no less, they have all the fun ;)
  8. wow that's some essay you have there :P I think it is going too far. I agree that if you have bought the product you shouldnt have to watch ANY commercials. Crap like this is going to make more people want to send them a message by not buying the products. The industry is clearly not adapting to the change in demands, they should be providing a convenient reasonably priced internet based distribution system if they want to discourage downloading illegaly. They are going in completely the opposite direction. I wonder how rules like that passed in the US will affect people in other countries. Maybe any movie make over there will have these restrictions imposed. I wonder if Bollywood is making any sci fi films ;)
  9. Lets not forget that the US was involved (out of fear of communism) in the overthrow of the Iraq government that put the Baath party and then Saddam in power. Donald Rumsfeld even sold Saddam weapons of mass destruction including mustard gas, sarin, 14 viruses including west nile. The material UN inspectors found years ago was traced back to US companies. The thousands of iraqi's that died under Saddam died from US weapons. Wikipedia: US providing Iraq with weapons for Iran war Rumsfeld & Saddam CIA involvement in Baath coup Having an ally would gauruntee access to oil.
  10. rofl, I wasnt going to say anything ;)
  11. wow, certainly is different. got a question for those in the UK, in one of my first year subjects the lecturer talked about a bridge, referred to as the blinking eye, crescent shaped and it lifts up. Anyone know the name? edit: ok it's called the Millenium Gateshead Bridge, in Newcastle wacky engineers :P
  12. wow, you certainly went a bit off-topic there! baud refers to the number of signals sent per second (100 baud=100 signals/second). If a modem sends 4 bit signals then 100 baud=400bits/s. I found this out by typing the word "baud" into google. Sometimes I wish people would try this before asking questions :P It actually takes less time and effort.
  13. why are the ships in startrek designated "USS Something" ? United States Service? shouldnt it be like UFS: United Federation Service. I doubt it is United Starflet Service.
  14. ignorant people who believe everything they hear religeous people who will stop at nothing till the world believes as they do people who buy the cheapest car on the market and give it a big exhaust and spoiler. people who ask questions in forums/irc when they could easily find the answer if they did a simple search people who cannot admit they are wrong under any circumstances people who complain about something they get for free *hint* *hint* people who get pissed off for having to stop at pedestrian crossings people who complain about politics but don't vote I could go on forever... Edit: oh and how could I forget, telemarketing phone calls. They are getting agressive with their sales methods. Shame I cant play a brown noise (ala southpark) down the phone line
  15. there is a push here for greater levels of ethanol in the fuel to reduce the price. There are some people saying that it damages cars, others say that isnt true. I dont know if it affects mileage, but it is possible they are diluting your petrol with ethanol.
  16. i'll have to add the new bsg theme to my selection, dramatic, fast paced, well suited. looking at all the posts, Dr Who is the favourite ;)
  17. hilarious. I reckon the more you give people, the more they expect. I hate it when people complain about something they are getting for free! c'mon get a grip on reality.
  18. I hope your politicians read things carefully before they vote do they usually just vote the way their party wants, or do they come to their own conclusion on issues?
  19. I have often wondered why they don't hook up gym equiptment. The gyms could sell the power and make more money! Shame having all that energy go to waste.
  20. I can't believe you left out the Danish empire :P they ruled a large portion of europe for a while including england, sweden, norway to name a few :P so I voted British
