Isnt it the record companies taking out the advertising for the artists in the first place? I would like to see a large group of artists take steps to change the industry and get rid of the dominance of the record labels that are getting most of the profits. In my opinion the artists should be getting the larger cut.

I'm not adverse to the idea of a female doctor. But I do agree with s0vi3t's comment that she shouldnt be stereotypical hollywood eyecandy. I wonder what sort of companion a female doctor would have? a female friend or maybe a male to have the odd bit of sexual tension.

it's a really tough choice they all have their good points. Troi is uber caring. 7 of nine has a soft side to her but can certainly hold her own and oozes self confidence. Jadzia and b'ellana are intelligent and headstrong, b'ellana is somewhat fiesty hehe. Kira is headstrong as well and also caring. I think I would have to pick T'pol though. She was intelligent but her character really developed with the relationship with Trip and also after her addiction to that mineral her emotions were showing through from time to time. Was well written and acted imo. But lacking her in the poll I picked seven of nine.

how can a star system with a prewarp civilization be federation space? Surely the arent part of it until they join up

hehehe. I am curious what design flaws the defiant had, both of the ships named defiant appeared to run fantastically and kicked butt, dont remember the shields powering down at a critical moment or anything like that. I dont see the justification for scrapping the design

eeep Grand Nagus Rom....I thought that was a stupid decision on the part of the writers. my choice would be Picard definately. Runners up would be Worf. Seven of nine was also really good imo, I also have alot of respect for the actor after that episode where the different assimilated personalities were coming through, that was really well done.

atkinsdiet, that is the low carb one right? I saw some show that had people try various different diets to see which works best, the low carb diet kicked butt! except they said it is only healthy for short periods (couple of months at a time). but I must agree, people who believe everything they hear/read s&$ts me

I wonder if the artists who she had downloaded would support such action. I would love to hear their opinion! If they do/dont support they should publicly say so and be judged accordingly. If the RIAA win, do the artists get the money?

awww I was hoping for discussion :P what if another race were interfering with a prewarp civilization, would the prime directive prevent you from interfering, or would it compel you to interfere to prevent interference? hehe what if you discovered a planet far away that had ummm lets say voyager (the NASA one) crash on it several millennia before you arrive. And it has altered the development of the society, maybe not in a bad way. Would the prime directive require to try and fix the problem and in doing so break the prime directive?

I suggest you explain, "How is admiring beauty = objectification"? To me, it's no different than admiring the majesty of the mountains or the beauty of a deer running through the woods. troy Objectification is the focusing on physical attributes while ignoring other attributes such as inteligence. Admiring the physical beauty of a person is objectifying if that is all you admire. Even if you are not thinking about sex. The character in your avatar has no attributes other than her physical appearance. That playboy movie you were ripping, I wonder how much personality was there to admire. The thread about alyssa milano or merrin you didnt mention anything but their physical attributes. So by definition that is objectifying. 22 democrats voted for him? I think it's good that they didnt feel they had to "tow the party line". Polititions should be thinking for themselves and voting based on their judgement not what they are told to vote for. Makes me wonder if all the republicans voted for him because they were told to.

OverlordQ: how rude! this is an open discussion. I don't remember seeing "US opinions only" when I came in. To get back on topic, even though the US laws dont directly apply outside the country, it does apply to products produced there. So if this law were to pass I would expect dvds of movies made in the US to still prevent us from skipping the adverts, even though it wouldnt illegal for us to do so.

When was the prime directive introduced to the story? Did it follow a huge intergalactic incident? They often talk about the directive as though it is a definite rule that must never be broken, yet they do anyway when it is more or less convenient. Should the directive be reviewed to allow for exceptions? Is there a Secondary directive? ;) Who should be fed to targs for constantly breaking the prime directive? My guess would be Kirk, but was it even around then?
