    The BBB Poll

I voted for bob morane ;) master of fellatio would be a compliment for any sexuality. I'm sure there are plenty of wo.... anyway, as much as I miss the various controversies that surrounded boris, the fun gets sucked out of it (no pun intended) when you are dealing with someone, whose inability to keep an open mind to alternatives prevents them from engaging in a discussion without personally attacking people.
  4. Yeah I am a bit confused as to what you are asking.
  5. Prices in Australia are at $1.50 per litre. Not quite as high as the UK fortunately. There have been a number of protests about the prices here lately and calls for inquiry into the dealings of the petrol companies with regards to price fixing. A report here recently was saying that the price we pay at the pump has no bearing to what the oil is costing on the market. Apparently they raise the price for the consumer because other countries are raising prices at the pump. I guess they figure they can get away with it because people expect it. The government doesnt mind of course, the higher the price, the more tax they get. Infact the prime minister was wanting to raise the tax a bit. Petrol companies have also been posting record profits. IMO we are getting screwed.
  6. Yeah I am starting to think they have been wasting money for decades. They should be looking into the future and take bigger steps. Like the mining and processing of minerals in space to allow construction up there, of craft or stations. That would save money of lifting materials into space in the long run. From what I have read of NASA's plan so far, they arent bold enough. If the US keeps dragging its feet I hope other nations will step forward as the pioneers of space technology. btw we arent doing too badly with fusion technology. The theory has been well researched and tested. There are plans to have the first large scale reactor completed by 2016, based on the brilliant russian invention, tokomak. The test reactor will be 500MW which is large compared to the US' test nuclear reactor which was only 0.1MW. Also there is no oil on the moon, or any celestial body that has not supported alot of life. Oil is created from the decaying remains of plant and animal life under pressure and heat...............oh this is interesting, just read this. Apparently there is infact a theory that oil can be produced without life, in environments with methane. Although this still rules out oil on the moon.
  7. There are some researchers here at my uni that work with lasers to trap small particles in air and can move them around. Works on the principle that when light is refracted while passing through an object it exerts a force on the object. On our way to developing tractor beams maybe? as long as the objects are transparent hehe
  8. I hate it when people tell me to "Smile!"... If I'm not smiling already, telling me to is likely to get you a punch in the face :cyclops:
  9. In a rush, so I'll have to keep this brief. A couple of things in that article stood out to me: "more energy output than input" "theoretically possible" "engineering problem" engineering principles such as the laws of thermodynamics clearly state that such a process is impossible First law of thermodynamics: "energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change forms" so based on engineering, any such device is theoretically impossible. I wonder who the examining experts were to say otherwise.
  10. It does get put on free-to-air in AU, just never consistently. I hate it how they are always willing to drop sci fi from the programing whenever any sport is happening. Chan 9 is due to play season 3 or 4 of enterprise soon I believe. In theory...
  11. I voted sovereign also, gotta go for the newer technology *drool*. galaxy class was my second for nostalga :D I had a feeling it would be you making the polls testuoshima, I was thinking of your website when I suggested it :D
  12. I voted the romulan D'deridex, nice design and being able to fit a galaxy class ship "inside" is impressive :) second choice would have been the klingon K'Vort
  13. what does this have to do with startrek? :P I voted Satan to be contrary. who voted for bush?
  14. oh, and if I hear the word "whimsy" one more time, I am going to freak out!
  15. "I'm gonna open a can of woop ass" I hear this occasionally on US shows, sounds like either a really lame threat, or someone has a questionable diet
  16. No they only blew up the first defiant I agree that the general design hasnt changed alot since the nx-01 (defiant being the exception), I would have thought they would have learnt some good designs from other species they encountered, if not hundreds of years of ship building. I personally wouldnt put the bridge on the outer hull, they use viewscreans anyway, no need to be near a window that can blasted open, venting you into space. I think someone should start a poll for best ship design of all the species ;)
  17. I want to be borg to match my avatar, although I'd rather not be banned to achieve it hehe ;)
  18. delightfully arrogant :P I give you a 4 hehe
  19. interesting, so I guess that puts the eastern part of russia on the north american continent hehe

    Funny Quotes

Support bacteria. They're the only culture some people have.
  21. Dont forget they had other races in the fleet as well. But they did start building up the forces until they were at war, which I think is too late, they should have learnt from previous experience to be prepared. To be well defended doesnt turn them into a conquering race or compromise the philosophy. they could still continue to explore, and in fact, with more ships they could explore more, safely. btw, defence is the UK/Australian spelling, and defense is the US spelling :P
  22. here is Ask Yahoo's take on it from what I have see there are varied opinions on the definition of an island. We are taught here that Australia is and island continent, and with a larger land area than any other island. The guinness book of records also agrees. I guess it is similar to the argument of what defines the tallest building, habitable space, tallest point? infact there are 5 different categories for tallest building. My original comment was part national pride I guess. If you are really wanting to deflate that, I can take solace in the fact that we are soon to complete the worlds tallest structure at over 1km high. :D
  23. What do you think of the federations defences? Personally I think they never really made enough of an effort to build up the fleet with a large number of strong ships, just incase they need to defend themselves. They had plenty of scares that should have made them think, xindi, borg, klingons and the romulans to name a few. consider the defences the federation had in "best of both worlds" where the borg attack. The extent of the defence they could put up was 20ish ships which were easily dispatched by one cube, and then when the borg got to the sol system the defences there consisted of 3 missiles. That's all for starfleet headquaters? Even after that threat I dont think they put enough resources into really beefing up the fleet.
  24. If a borg were there, it wouldnt bother to comment on the sound. I voted this post is irrelevant because it is such a tempting option... you shouldnt leave an opening for us to be silly ;)
